I have my grandmothers china and I remember ,as a little girl, loving the very spots and stains on her beautiful china that she used to complain about way back in the 70’s when I was a child.i love all the little burn marks and stuff. We ate on those dishes every holiday. I still use them at holidays and display them all the time!!

I, too, have autoimmune disease and at 70 years old, I don’t get out very much and am not very active. I’m truly living vicariously through you so continue thrifting, crafting, and decorating your home for both of us. I love it! I’m not quite sure why you started your channel, but whether or not you realize it, you have a ministry! You share your faith and God’s love through your joy in thrifting and creating a warm home. Paula, when I started this channel, it was something I wanted to do just as an adventure for myself. I did lay out some boundaries for the channel, including
1) it needs to be fun to do. If it starts to feel like I'm doing homework, then that defeats the purpose
2) it needs to be spontaneous, with no pre-written script, like a chat with friends
3) I would make no attempt to avoid sharing my faith, or to be "politically correct"
4) if my creativity can be used to glorify the Lord, then that's what I hope happens. I want to breathe life into anyone who spends time watching me

Just love the blue/white dishes with a touch of the fall colors.
If you’re interested in trying this....this past winter I was gifted some real pomegranates & 2 of them sat in my fruit bowl and dried out. Well don’t you know they are just beautiful & now I’m using them in my fall decor. They didn’t rot, are somewhat leathery in texture but maintained their color like your figs on the mantle. Who knew!

I have no problem with the signs of age on my pieces ….in fact I embrace the imperfections because it gives things history of times gone by and it adds character that’s not duplicated. I really enjoyed watching your video and seeing your decor. My daughter and grandkids live in Sweet Alabama. ❤️

I collect swans..your goose is a swan..😍🥰 a goose has a smaller length neck.they cannot bend it as log as swans do. 💗 some think ducks are swans even geese.. 🤣😂 it’s all in the feathers & neck.. 🤗😬❤️ just a little fyi, beautiful home..beautiful ❤️👏
Ahhh!! You are right and I totally do know it's a swan! I did the voice over for this video in our hotel room at 11:30 last night with Ben in the room so my brain wires got crossed! 😄 That swan is extremely heavy and solid wood. Can't believe someone sold a swan that big for $25! 🙌

They're from the 1950's! When I first saw them in a thrift store, I assumed they were something recently made, maybe from Hobby Lobby, but I looked up the label on the back and they're truly vintage 😍

Hi Marla, Happy Anniversary and Happy travels to Williamsburg, VA. Your home just looks so beautiful. There is something about the old vintage items used as decor that looks so charming. I love your camper in the yard. I grew up with a pop up camper. We had great vacations and wonderful memories. I love it being setup in your yard for the granddaughters. I think it is so funny how you inherited the barrels from your Mom. I like to do that too. I say hey Mom if you need this back for something let me know! She just smiles and says enjoy it I will!!!! I love the way you use items in different ways (ex: the bed over a curtain) I also think you are so kind how you share what you have with friends. You are so kind. Blessings to you my dear. Oh I almost forgot...I LOVE the pheasant glasses!!!!! May I ask...where do you store all your dishes in the in between seasons when you display them? Do you actually use them or just for decorating? Sandie, I have a metal shelf meant to hold medical folders in a doctor's office. It's in my hallway, and it's currently holding about 200 plates, which is OUTRAGEOUS for any one human to have hundreds of plates, I know this!! I also store plates in the bottom of my 2 china cabinets, my buffet, and in tubs strategically shoved into odd corners, artic, etc. It's ridiculous! 😄
I do use my dishes. The 200 mixed vintage floral plates were used at two of my daughters' wedding receptions. The blue willow, asiatic pheasant, and Denmark plates (all blue and white) are my everyday dishes. I also use other patterns seasonally as my every day dishes
The last time my momma was at my house, she pointed to the barrels on the back steps and said "hmm, I used to have some barrels just like that..." with a wink 😜 😄

Marketplace is a great place for thrifting! I just bought an amazingly framed large Modigliani painting for $80 inclusive of delivery. Thats Canadian dollars so maybe just about $50USD. I bought a decent size blue and white ceramic of a chinese girl ..a vintage of the Bombay Company and they were Cad$12! I love all my vintage finds...one cant find them in big box retail making them more precious.
Oh, you're so right! To get the kind of vintage collected look I love, I have to find my treasures "in the wild" (thrift stores, yard sales, side of the road 😄)

😄 well I assume you were doing voice to text or either autocorrect did a trick on you... but the answer is that I switch out my decor so frequently that it doesn't get too dusty before I take it down and put something else up 💃
