- Even with the size and crowds of Tokyo, you can find hidden gems. In this video we show you a few popular spots, but focus instead on the out of the way and off the beaten path places of Tokyo where you can escape the crowds of Tokyo. There is the G-Gans, or taking a Tokyo Water Taxi, or the Small Worlds Miniature Museum, or perhaps enjoying a snack on the Yaesu Terrace of Tokyo Midtown overlooking Tokyo Station. Visit the new TeamLab Borderless which is a must see thing to do in Tokyo. Each of these represent some of the best things to do in Tokyo. There is so much more than Shibuya Crossing or the Ginza.

Thank you for your compliment. This video work and editing are all very new to us. Until a couple of months ago, I had never used editing software, so to know that the videos are of good quality, that is very encouraging. Thanks for watching and please share the channel with others as we attempt to grow so we can continue helping visitors find the undiscovered parts of Japan.
I have been to Tokyo many times, but you still surprised me with a few of these. Thank you. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for watching, and its our goal to share unknown places throughout Japan, so I'm glad to hear we succeeded! More to come today with our Kyoto video, and next week from Nagoya. Always great to meet another Japan frequent traveler! You can read our story on our website at www.unchartedjapan.net.
The Small World Museum looks so interesting
It was a surprise. We could have stayed there a lot longer.
Superb video! So professional…looking forward to many more!
Thanks for watching! We're definitely novice video creators, but enjoying the learning process and sharing our knowledge of Japan with the world. Next stop: Kyoto!
Oh man!! This is an amazing feat- I so want to see!!
Pack your bags and come along! Its a lot easier than you may think! Thanks for watching and commenting. Next week, we visit Kyoto.
Fantastic video and production, keep it up.
Thanks for watching and commenting. This YT stuff is all very new, so we're slowly getting the hang of it. But what we do know is Japan, and we enjoy sharing that knowledge. Up next is Kyoto!
What a beautiful video! Now I can't wait to visit Tokyo!
Thank you. There's so much to see and do in Tokyo! No way to see it all, even in a lifetime. That's one reason we keep returning. Thanks for watching!
Have a trip to see our son in March 2025, so these videos are amazingly useful and informative!! Thanks.
Thanks for watching, and hope you have a wonderful time with your son and experience in Japan! Glad to know you've found the content helpful. We enjoy sharing our knowledge of Japan, especially those places that are less known.
Love your insider view of Tokyo and especially some of the less touristy locations. My grandson is planning his 2025 Graduation trip to Japan and I can’t wait to share your videos!
Thank you! We love discovering the hidden gems. There are a lot more than most realize. Congratulations on your son's upcoming graduation! Tokyo and Japan in general will make for an amazing experience. Next week will be about Kyoto, followed by Nagoya, one of our favorite less visited cities. Thanks for watching!
This is a great guide! I was just in and around Tokyo Station recently and never knew these places nearby existed.
Thanks for watching and commenting. This CZcams thing is still very new to us, but we definitely know Japan and love sharing it with the world. Watch for our next video: Kyoto.
I really enjoyed the videography and commentary on Tokyo. Such unique and beautiful museums, architecture, and landscapes. Thank you for sharing your love of Japan with us.
Thanks for watching and commenting! Yes, the Japanese love their museums. There are many that are very small showcase unusual subjects. Am working on a video that will include a visit to the Toto museum which chronicles that company's history of the toilet. It was pretty impressive.
Hello. nice to meet you 😊🇯🇵
Thank you for the wonderful video. I'm glad you enjoyed Japan💖
We love Japan. Josephine was born and raised there as were three generations of her family before her. We have a deep connection to Japan and the family still owns a house north of Nagano. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Thank you for the wonderful suggestions… these items are just my speed!! will be there in September 2024! Great job !
Glad you found them helpful and I hope you'll be able to visit some of these hidden gems. We enjoy getting away from the crowds, and you can do that even in places such as Tokyo and Kyoto, but we encourage folks to get outside the big three: Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, and explore other areas. Thanks again for watching.
Loved the video! Great job, .... now I've got to plan a visit!
Thanks for watching and commenting! This CZcams thing is very new to us, so we appreciate the compliment. Definitely put Japan on your travel bucket list.
Aloha! Just found your channel and enjoy it. With the over tourism crowds these days, the “hidden gems” places where you can chill are a great find. 🤫Thank you!
Yep, in some places, the crowds can be overwhelming, but there are still plenty of hidden gems if one looks for them. That's our goal: to help people find them so they'll enjoy their visit all the more. Thanks for watching!
Each time I watch your videos I see something new and interesting. Great job!
Thank you for watching! We try our best! Watch for our upcoming video on the Askashi-Kaikyo Bridge
This is well-timed for my October visit to Tokyo, which seemed overwhelmingly scaled. Nice to know about retreats for an introvert like me! Looking forward to Kyoto!
Glad to hear it! October is a great time to be there. Check the autumn color reports for the best viewing spots for the leaf changes. The ginko and maple trees are stunning. Another hidden gem in which to relax is the terrace just above the Yaesu Central exit of Tokyo Station. As you come out the doors, look for the outdoor escalators to the right and go up. Most people don't know it exists, but there are sitting areas and a couple of restaurants. Thanks for the feedback.
Just found your channel and wow, your videos are so interesting and informative! Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Liked and subscribed 👍
So glad you found us and are enjoying the videos! This whole CZcams thing is new to us so we're learning as we go, but we know Japan. Josephine's family has 163 years of history living there since 1861 which gives us a different perspective. Thanks for watching, subscribing and sharing the channel with others! Enjoy our Nagoya video which comes out at 9 AM eastern time today in the U.S.
The best video yet! 🎉
Thank you! Working hard on them. Trying to get better and better. Appreciate you watching and any ideas for future videos.
Thank you for a beautiful video of Tokyo's landmarks! I had read about the 'Tokyo Cathedral', an impressive & huge-scaled system to regulate & manage floodings for Tokyo, but wasn't aware that it is open for public tours! What makes me very happy with Tokyo in particular, and Japan in general, is the harmonious co-existence of tradition & modernity -- some time within the same neighborhood. The Japanese have also realized that it is NOT enough to simply build (structures, high-speed rail system, etc.) but also to properly maintain such structures for optimal functionality!
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, the G-Cans experience is unique, and there are several tour options. Takes a little effort to get there from central Tokyo, but worth it. The website says that someone in the group must speak basic Japanese, however, they have printouts in English and we've never had the need. I have often said Japan is unique due to the ancient temples and history, yet at the same time having the most advanced rail system and architecture in the world. It is a land of contrasts. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Please share the channel with others as we're trying to grow,. Have never done any video editing or CZcams videos until five weeks ago, but we're having fun sharing our experiences with others.
Just found your channel! Have been to Tokyo and want go back - the train museum and small worlds are now on my to do list!
Thanks for watching and glad to meet another traveler to Japan! Its a wonderful country. The SCMAGLEV Museum is a great train museum, and just one of several in the country. The Small Worlds Museum was a real surprise for us, and we could have stayed there for several more hours.
👍
Thanks for watching!
