I love this. My wife and I went through a similar process. Costs and issues change exponentially the larger you go. Slip, fuel, range, general maintenance, places you can go, dry dock/haulout availability and handle ability. We love that you review the decision process. I went back and watched the old video of the Bering 77. I remembered it as being a really great explorer yacht, and now I am really impressed. At 80 years old, I have always had to pinch my pennies. I would like a solar powered catamaran at least a 40-footer it's just me and my husband but we have four dogs that will be traveling with us. I took a lot of sailing classes in Clearwater Florida and I think I have faith in myself I would love to have me a definitely possibility a Cummins generator for extra power, of course a couple great motives on the back just in case there's no sun for a couple days but I have just want to get out there into the ocean sail the world when my bamboo is growing on my land

I guessed right. I was suspecting it when you where doing the B77 video actually. I am both envious and very happy for you. The B75 is my favorite yacht and im really excited to see how yours will turn out. Also it would be an awesome thing to see you cruise in it. Also what i would like to see is how a 24hr period would look like, watch and checking the engineroom and so on nothing really in depth but enough so one can see what goes into piloting this magnificient boat over a 24hr period without docking and or anchoring. If its bad, then the purchase is likely going to move on to new owners sooner rather than later. None, alot of those things I still own and probably will till they get passed on in my will.

Surprised you went with the icebreaker, but to go with power over sail, especially if you're staying in LA makes perfect sense. When you look at the size of the Bering and your getting under 1.5 gal burn per nm at 9 knots, drop that to 7 and you're probably closing in on 1Gal/nm, which is bloody amazing. Your biz write offs will dispense of 80%+ of costs .......... maybe more, should have gone for the 145? Next time. You guys work hard, and smart, you earned it, enjoy.

So funny…. My wife and I went through the same process you guys did in buying our boat. The more boats we walked on, the more clear we became on one hand and more confused on the other. First, I don't know anything about the boat business, so I would need advice! Too big and I need crew, too small and I have to learn it all myself! Could be fun, but it could also be dangerous! Also I feel quite excited at the thought, since I have been in Thailand for 20 years! First thought, if I bought a boat in the USA, how to get it here and are there taxes to pay on top? Perhaps buy one here? The dream is to spend as much time as possible on and by the sea!
