Spike 150: Sesquicentennial Celebration at Promontory Summit

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Golden Spike National Historic Site at Promontory Summit transformed into a hub for thousands of people to gather May 10, 2019. The entirety of this ceremony has been documented for public consumption and viewing pleasure. The main anniversary event kicked off with speeches from several notable Utah figures, a keynote address by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham and the world premiere of As One, a musical-theater reimagining of the Golden Spike event.
