    *Cries in Claw of Karanak battle trait*

    These traits are all over the place. At least one gives a warband a new Triple - an odd choice for a so-called passive trait! The Splintered Fang one seems good (get a bonus use of their Poisoned Attacks double every round), which given they're considered to be struggling is nice to see, but then the equally struggling Cypher Lords might get a couple of wild dice out of theirs each game, which seems much less impactful.

      I agree there. Whilst some are VERY good, others are lacking or try to push playstyles that aren't actually all that effective.

    I'm super happy with the Sylvaneth and Seraphon ones. Teleporting Kurnoth Hunters will be amazing. A free upgrade to Tearing Bite is great, or the option to help Skinks survive ranged attacks is good too. However, KO doesn't feel great at all. Using it in the last Battle Round is essentially free, but during BR1,2,3, the free Wild Dice could be more devastating than just taking the damage. I would have liked to have seen the battle trait have a reference to their boats. Something like a bombing run that deals X damage to all units in a straight line across the map. Ah well, can't win them all!

    The Gloomspite Gitz trait needs an errata as well. Currently the timing doesn't work because you'd use it before rolling initiative.
    That said, I think it's very good, the big downside being that Gitz have a hard time in faction without allies. Not every enemy Warband will be affected, but just having a chance to turn a Value 6 rampage into a value 2, or turning your own abilities to higher value (depending on RNG).
    Some of my favorites definitely benefit, Shroomancer & Boggleye potentially buffing their out range, or Snorbo being able to secure a higher Charge.

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před měsícem +1

      Oh yeah for sure the GSG trait needs an errata also. I think that once its fixed it will be real good

    I’m not sure about possibilities every warband has. I mean for example:
    I play chaos legionaries and they have their own trait, they can choose chaos trait instead, but they are something like specific fraction from slaves of darkness (I might be wrong). It’s mean I have 3 traits to choose from or 2 or I have to choose chaos legionnaires one if my band only contains models from them?

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před 5 dny

      You only get access to your battle trait if every fighter in your warband shares the same faction runemark; in the case of Chaos Legionnaires, if everyone has that runemark then you get access to Master Manipulators OR the Grand Alliance battle trait Aspire to Glory.
      They don't have the Slaves to Darkness runemark so don't get access to that unfortunately.

    I know that Idoneth are in a bad state right now, but their battle trait is pretty nice. Every model geting a +1move/strength is like having a free blessing on every fighter, 0 conditions needed, no dice-rolls. I don't know if that will help them, but having around 120 points worth of free blessings is definitelly something :D
    Also, the skaven one - the more you look at it, the WORSE it gets! And is of course badly written.
    So, When you ressurect a minion, it allways says "remove X damage points" or the "fighter has no damage allocated to it" etc. There is not a word about it here, sooo... just looking by the GW consistency, you ressurect a 0hp skaven. Hey, their words, not mine!
    But let's consider obvious, they mean that the rat has fully recovered - look at the conditions: at the start of 4th battleround you palce a skaven that can't activate (as every ressurection in Warcry per FAQ "raised fighters"), is far from objective/treasure/enemy, and just stays there at the edge of the board. Sure, there are some random Victory Conditions, that will make that a nice play, but in 95% of the games, you just place a traffic cone in round 4.
    Anyway, by just having 1 free skaven in 3rd, that maybe is far away from the action, but can activate in the last round with his 6" movement, the trait is cool enough.

    • @kidzurag
      @kidzurag Před měsícem

      The Skaven come back at the end of the second and third, rather than the start of the third and fourth, so you still only get two guys, but it gets around the issue of not being able to use them right away - at least based on how it's worded on Warcrier
      Editing, because I just read the ability again, and I'm wrong 😅 - they really did word it about as poorly as they could have 😂

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před měsícem

      It's worth noting that though the skaven that came back to life cant activate or use abilities of it's own, there is nothing stopping you from using abilities from your other fighters to have them get bonus actions; For example using musk of fear for bonus move actions.

    As a Beast of Chaos player, this is awesome. But ive got a buddy who plays Deathrattle Soulblight and he's gotten entirely shafted.
    These are clearly not intended for tournament play and should stick to narrative for an immersive experience. We're doing slidecrown sundering at the moment and they will be added to stage 2 of the campaign.

    These traits are nice and good for the game, but the balance between them is missing.. some are too good, and some too bad 😅

      Yeah, that's strange; Reading over them I would have thought that they would be WD rules or something. Though I've heard other YT vids saying that the book indicates that this is the last of the Gnarlwood story so maybe that's why.

    I only play casually (i play mainly aos), but why my opponent would use a wait action instead of a 0.1" movement?
    I play IJ

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před měsícem +1

      It's because if they move, they then have to use their second activation to do something or else their turn is over for that fighter. Using wait pushes back the priority to your opponent so that you get to see what they are doing first before committing your stronger pieces - every fighter who waits is potentially two enemy fighters who have to go before yours.

    What about Ossiarch Bone Reapers?

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před 21 dnem

      The OBR battle trait:
      Ranks Unbroken By Dissent: If a friendly fighter with this battle trait uses an ability that requires the Ossirach Bonereapers runemark and has a range, add 1” to the range of the ability.
      tbh you will probably be using the Death Grand Alliance Battle trait because most of the good OBR abilities have no maximum range.

    This change feels completely out of the blue and honestly not well thought out. The traits don't look balanced and some of them affect core game mechanics in a significant way (like the Ironjawz one). It seems like a solution looking for a problem and doesn't actually address the main problems affecting the game.

    • @OffMetaMusings
      @OffMetaMusings  Před měsícem

      Like I said in the video; I feel like these might have been written over a year ago considering some of the factions are old/not present so I guess that says something about GW's lead times and responsiveness to whats going on in the game.
