It's crazy to see how many views she finally getting on older songs. I remember when no one knew who she was and she had a small close knit fan base. I'm glad to see that she's finally getting recognition and people are becoming fans
i heard her before, didnt really get to feel her the best until "the worst" she is the best female out imo, she picks great beats as well like n.o. id who produced for jay and common, very underated
In an interview Jhene said that 3:16 for means many things to her. She said "I always catch 3:16 it’s crazy because its my birthday & 3:16am is the time of night when I’m in my deepest darkest thoughts". She also said "3:16 happens to be one of the most translated scriptures in the Bible which is John 3:16." She stated "3:16 is about addiction and losing something that you love. It’s not just about addiction with drugs or love or anything, I wrote it to be interpreted however the listener wants to take it. For me it was just confronting my darkest thoughts regarding losing something that I can’t live without".
Us super pisces ,born on march 16th, we are very heightened spirits... we always catch the time at 316... our souls are tied to John 3:16, for God so loved the world, he gave his son... we are here for a special purpose... spoke with a spiritual medium and he confirmed everything...
felt this entire song. it feels good to know that you're not the only one that has these type of thoughts cus people would really call you crazy for feeling this way. The fear of not dying & wanting to b gone. The pain & betrayal from someone you thought loved you. & then on top of that, you're going through worser problems..
Rashaiya Coleman Damn, 2002, I MUST OF BEEN UNDER A SERIOUS ROCK, SWEAR MY BLACK ASS NEVER HEARD OF HER BEFORE 6 MONTHS AGO, SHUT MY MOUTH AND CALL ME SALLY, NOW MIND YOU, I HAVE HAD A LOT OF TRAUMA, HELL I MIGHT AS WELL SING A SONG RIGHT NEXT TO HER, HER VOICE MOVES THE HEAVEN AND EARTH, putting her right up there with Aaliyah, I never ever thought I'd be able to put someone in that category, ENOUGH SAID
This particular song of Jhene Aiko's hits extremely close to home for me because if some of you aren't yet aware; apparently 3 16 was written as a tragic result of losing her brother Miyagi to cancer on July 19, 2012. 3:16am was allegedly the fatal, recorded time when Miyagi lost his battle and when the family was alerted. My heart just mourns for her loss every time when I hear her lyrics in this heartrending song because I simply couldn't imagine losing my own wonderful brother so suddenly and untimely as she did. Jhene also describes 3:16am as the bewitching hour when you're thrown into the demonic parallels of your own type of hell. If any of you have ever seen 'Amityville Horror' you might've noticed the precise time when the sinister madness would consistently repeat itself every night and the husband would awake to was, 3:15am. Jhene documents and identifies with almost the same, identical time of Amityville Horror with only a minute's difference - The reason being; There's a lot of superstition surrounding the belief that 3:15am is the time that you will experience your own personal hell. I'm assuming it's become the haunting hour for her as she conveys how hopeless and lost she is in her sheer desperation to once again be with her deceased brother by seriously considering taking her own life. You can just feel the raw emotion coursing through this song and the way she 'acts' out her pursuit of insanity in the video is too real to just shrug it off as dramatisation. You can clearly see and hear that she herself has lived this hell and how much of a truly tortured soul she now is from losing the light of her life, her own brother. This is why 3 16 reduces me to tears upon listening to it each time, and why I adore Jhene Aiko so terribly 💘 She has been through it all, yet continues to belt out her emotions and turmoil the only way she knows how, by the art of her music. So much respect.
So well put! And this is why I love her darker songs because I can feel her pain through the song and lyrics. This is amongst one of my favorites along with "Mirrors", and "Drinking and Driving".
BananaBoat First off; love your username ;) Secondly; thank you! And I completely agree that her darker songs can easily resonate prominently with people, there's just something about the profound composure of them and how perfectly she captures and conveys life's poignancy. I don't think I've actually heard of her other songs you mentioned..? I'll definitely be looking them up now :))
Cymopoleia Wow! I didn't expect to create goosebumps from my write up, but it's certainly a welcomed reaction ^.~ hehe. Glad I could stir some chills, means I did Jhene's song justice because 3 16 always gives me ultimate shivers ❤
Unearthed Dancing Thank you! Lol it was my nickname in high school. 😂 But I feel you. I've always found sadder songs more relatable because to me, sadness is constant. Everyone has been sad before. Plus to feel sad is because you lost something beautiful ... so I guess I appreciate it more.
Marie Benton You and me both, Let the tears flow, TRUST me, nobody's gonna beat our Asses for crying, please don't let that be the crime of the century, lol. as my 16 year old daughter says- CHEER UP BUTTER CUP
this is what happens when parents don't teach their kids to accept and explore diversity among cultures. personally--im blessed to have grown up mixed being black and filipino and its something I will NEVER take for granted. It's a shame some people have this mindset because of the color of someone's skin. It doesn't affect you if people are out here making mixed babies. So keep your rude comments to yourself. Being apart of different cultures is beautiful and unfortunately something you'll never be able to experience. The least you can do is show some respect to the people who have enough balls to date someone out of their culture...
***** I get where you're coming from but like he said most of her songs aren't like that, if you listen to her lyrics they're about finding yourself... thats the kind of artist she is and another reason she titles things "Souled Out " or "Sailing Souls "
I have just fallen in love with her sound and relaxed vibe. She is content in being herself. With a beautiful sound and her own style, not following the trends like most of the lemming artists that are out now. Keep making those hits and I'll keep buying them!
I read up on her and I found this really interesting... "Aiko is of Japanese, Spanish, Dominican, German Jewish, French, Native American and African American descent".

Fell in love with her after the Manifesto concert in toronto , i liked her before but her performances are straight up fun. Such an underrated song/artist christ..stay undiscovered please Jhene. All this talk about Rihanna, Lady Gaga and the rest of those fools and Jhene Aiko is right here killing shit! When I put together my first album I'll be getting at her for a feature, no doubt. She has one of the best voices out right now. Listen to "Wth" feat. Ab-Soul if y'all haven't already.
Jhene's birthday is on March 16 3/16 is the day she was born I think 3:16 a.m is symbolic of her being "reborn" she says in one of her other songs "at 44 mins to 4 (3:16) an angel walked up to my door, opened the window to my soul told me he thinks that I should know there's no slowing down" that was the rebirth
Her album is marvelous, wait no... HER ALBUM'S!!!! There we go. No matter what song she sings, they each have a diff perspective on me, but like heaven gosh! They all have a certain part in my daily life... kinda struggling with my parents arguing.. sometimes i feel im not worthy to be loved because... idk i just dont know... im prob overreacting :(
no you're not overreacting. you have every right to feel whatever emotion your feeling. but please do know you are so worthy of being loved. God loves you more than you could imagine. He's not the person people told you he is. He isn't some greater power somewhere far away judging you. He's a loving spirit who's been right by your side since the day you were born. This girl does not get enough recognition as a female artist. She should have way more songs on the radio before the ones she features in. Her voice is amazing, her songs all have deep meanings, she tells stories in her music. She's so much better than so many people. She deserves more attention.
Braden Rikli I personally don't care when a person finds Jhene Aiko, just as long as they find her. I know I'm always trying to spread her name around.
The weeknd is more sexual if you out haven't noticed in most kind of all his songs. I don't think they won't make a good song unless she is the background singer. Just saying.
This song describes my life. It makes so much sense and has such a deep meaning to me. I find so much beauty in the lyrics and her voice. This song completely describes what I'm going though and its amazing how cool it is to connect with music in that way and let it help you. The song has a different meaning to everyone one even tho its truly about the death of her brother I bet almost everyone could connect in some way. I love her she gives me hope that one day things will get better, hopefully. Much love to all the good in the world and the music that saves lives and keeps people moving forward. Just felt the need to express my thoughts
Yea, i can connect to this song too. I lost my dad last year & it still feels like a gun just shot threw my heart. But this song is sooo beautiful & gives me hope to feel happy again.
God... I love this woman! She's phenomenal! She needs to consider a serious acting career as well as her singing one. She's always so convincing in her emotions, perceptions and portrayals. Damn!
I bet none of you knew she a mixture of Japanese (hence the name Aiko), Spanish, African American and bunch other races like her mother who is a mix of japanese and several other races while her dad is African American (he's also mixture of a lot of other decents). Her songs are about terrible heartbreak, emotional pain it has caused, the death of her brother, and a lot of other situations that hurt her up to this point. I enjoy her music because we get to understand her and why she feels the way she does.
this song speaks to my soul. i have been and still am where she is speaking of. the pain of loving your soulmate and being abandoned by the very person who knows you on more than just the physical level is devastating.
The way that it is 2923 and I am 33 and have been listening to Jhene since b2k days....this is and always will be the best song of hers to me. I resonate because I feel her emotion.
This explains exactly how i felt a couple of years ago when someone I loved left me for someone else. It was my anthem for literally months. It hurt so much. But beautiful song, meaningful, and just perfect!
Been almost a decade since I’ve heard this. I listened to this a lot when I was younger. So many bad memories and this song would get me through hard times.
It's crazy to see how many views she finally getting on older songs. I remember when no one knew who she was and she had a small close knit fan base. I'm glad to see that she's finally getting recognition and people are becoming fans

Lyrics
Out of place, out of space and time, wide awake
Out of papers I am, not okay
I am out my mind
Outer space, that’s where I been goin'
To a place where, place where nobody knows
Floating at a pace where now you see me now and now you don’t
I do not feel the fear of fallin, I wanna fly
If it all goes well then I will
But what if I don’t?
Ill be right where I was before
But I’m not alone, you said take my hand
And we go (and we go), and we go (and we go)
And I hope that we don’t overdose
Cause we don’t (cause we don’t)
No we don’t (no we don't)
Ever know when we have had enough
Wait
Now my thoughts so cloudy and my hearts so crowded with pain
I am so frustrated like my souls been taken away
Broken promise of everything that I thought you were
Thought you said this would never hurt, that’s what it did that is all
I do not feel the fear of falling
Thought I could fly
It didn’t go well and oh well
What do you know
I’m right back where I was before
But I’m not alone, you said take my hand
And we go (and we go), and we go (and we go)
And I hope that we don’t overdose
Cause we don’t ('cause we don’t)
No we don’t (no we don't)
Ever know when we have had enough
I'm a be so cold, need some more
I’ve never felt these things before
I’m a feind for sure, please don't go
How could you not need me no more?
You're the only thing that I loved
You’re the only thing that I want
You’re the only reason, the only reason
I do not feel the fear of fallin', I wanna fly
If it all goes well, then I will
But what if I don’t?
Ill be right where I was before
You're all that I know

She already did it's called "Runaway" also Frank Ocean is in it,
Ximena Sanchez That wasn't a real song. Somebody mixed it like that with there songs.
Agreed.
The weeknd is more sexual if you out haven't noticed in most kind of all his songs. I don't think they won't make a good song unless she is the background singer. Just saying.
^Yess
This is so cute when she talks , relatable when she sings and beautiful when you watch her
Why does her Voice speak to my Soul
This song describes my life. It makes so much sense and has such a deep meaning to me. I find so much beauty in the lyrics and her voice. This song completely describes what I'm going though and its amazing how cool it is to connect with music in that way and let it help you. The song has a different meaning to everyone one even tho its truly about the death of her brother I bet almost everyone could connect in some way. I love her she gives me hope that one day things will get better, hopefully. Much love to all the good in the world and the music that saves lives and keeps people moving forward. Just felt the need to express my thoughts
JoJo Online Ehem, YOU don't care not the rest of us. And apparently you care enough to have read it. You could've kept that to yourself.
Yea, i can connect to this song too. I lost my dad last year & it still feels like a gun just shot threw my heart. But this song is sooo beautiful & gives me hope to feel happy again.

This song is so underated
God... I love this woman! She's phenomenal! She needs to consider a serious acting career as well as her singing one. She's always so convincing in her emotions, perceptions and portrayals. Damn!

My favorite song from her is The worst and Bed Peace ❤
She is like the female version of the weekend ! loveeee her vibe ! sends chills ! loveeeee you jhene ! ♥
She's been hurt so bad..her songs touch my soul.
all of jhene underrated songs just hit so hard
2024 wya?
In soul crushing abusive relationship... Always Loved it.
Hits different. No pun intended 😔
Yes I knew that
I'm sure you did but many of the other people didn't
She's so beautiful 😩😍
This song ends 3:16. Nice detail ms. Aiko. 👌🏾
this song speaks to my soul. i have been and still am where she is speaking of. the pain of loving your soulmate and being abandoned by the very person who knows you on more than just the physical level is devastating.
The way that it is 2923 and I am 33 and have been listening to Jhene since b2k days....this is and always will be the best song of hers to me. I resonate because I feel her emotion.
*2023
You know what I meant 🤣
2023 who’s still here❤❤
That beat is crazy, plus her voice rides to it.
Love her, and her voice.
shes so real for this
Been jamming this since 2013
this always gives me the chills, but i still loved it from day one of listening to it. one of my faves from her. i love her energy.
It's ironic how the song is 3:16 am and the video is 3 minutes and 16 seconds long.
Nadasha Frazier -- Except that's not ironic at all.
It's ironic how people mention irony when there isn't any. So ironic, right?!
So enigmatic and incredible.
Great for dark and rainy nights
The way the song is 3:16 is the most iconic thing about it.
Natural beauty. From inside out. And still hold a room in her heart that keeps hurt & pain. Similar to Aaliyah may she forever R.I.P
this song deserves more
my most favourite song
2:21 Cold
This is vậy dramatic to me. The presentation is nice.
Very dramatic content
I have been hitting repeat for 6 years
This is deeper than you know
her videos are so powerful
💚💚3:16 has been popping up for me . First time listening to this song👍💚💚.
Does any one realize this video is 3:16 mins long lol 👌
This explains exactly how i felt a couple of years ago when someone I loved left me for someone else. It was my anthem for literally months. It hurt so much. But beautiful song, meaningful, and just perfect!
Been almost a decade since I’ve heard this. I listened to this a lot when I was younger. So many bad memories and this song would get me through hard times.
Fav one of hers
I've been in this song for a minute and I must just say that she's a quite underrated talent.
I listen to this song every night before bed, relaxes me i love it and i kinda relate in a way
LOVE HOW THE VIDEO IS 3:16 MINUTES LONG
You could never get enough of her voice it's so soft and gentle-like 🎧
I love how the length of the video is 3:16 as well! But I'm hitting 0:00 for a repeat!!!
Who's here in 2022 because they're still feeling this song and the entire EP it was in

Jhene I want you to know its 2023 and I love these old songs still 🥺🥺🥺
I remember when I first discovered her about 7 yrs ago... And she helped shape the memories I have today. I was alittle sadder back then, she helped
