There's nothing 'wrong' with Bob besides not havng a family so he relentlessly stalks opulently wealthy tightly wound psychiatrists whom are uncomfortable communicating with their own children to get an'in' with them. Bob is the villain of this film. He 'knows' what he's doing and he does it to perfection. He deliberately ruins Marvin's life, and ends up permanently a part of his family which will now become his own. It was too dark for audiences to understand so Bob became more sympathetic in a goofball comedy

    • @afriendofbean
      @afriendofbean Před 6 lety +7

      +Jordan Carrington I think the beginning part of his vacation was actually work related because "Good Morning America" was coming to interview him on the book he was the author of. Then after "Good Morning America" left was probably when Leo could start having a fun and relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, Bob messed things up for Leo having people having their attention on Bob only and not Leo making it sound like Bob was the author of "Baby Steps" and not Leo. However, I feel it's kind of Anna and Siggy's faults that Bob is with them because Bob mentioned that he's spending his vacation in New Hampshire with the Guttman's and after Bob left Leo's home after quickly dropping by to deliver flowers to Fay, Bob was probably going to head back to the Guttman's but, Anna wanted Bob to go sailing with her and out of coincidence Bob saw Siggy who offered to help him dive with Leo trying to drown Bob but, the whole family (except Leo) invited Bob for dinner and then invited Bob to sleep over because of the rain even though Bob mentioned that he was hoping it wasn't too much trouble for him to sleep over.

    • @idanoreilly
      @idanoreilly Před 2 lety +9

      Agreed. Bob is really overstepping the boundaries. Leo should’ve called the police to get Bob’s attention after Bob failed to leave after being told.

    • @afriendofbean
      @afriendofbean Před rokem +3

      @@idanoreilly Somehow Bob is assuming Leo telling him to get out of the house was Leo's way of trying to cure his problems which is why the moment when Bob said "is this some radical new therapy?" was Bob's way of saying "that didn't work to cure my problems." Regarding the police, probably even if Leo called them, maybe they would have refused to arrest Bob after seeing him on "Good Morning America" because that one security guard at the mental hospital saw Bob and was very happy to see him and said "you're Bob Wiley, I saw you on TV you were great" and that police officer who gave Leo a ticket said out loud "hey didn't I see that guy on TV?" Plus, Dr. Tomsky would have been surprised with Leo calling the police (even though she hasn't met Bob yet during this scene) because after Leo tried committing Bob to the mental hospital having Dr. Tomsky as his new psychologist, she said that she was giving Bob back to him explaining that it's okay for a patient like Bob to communicate with his psychologist.

    Bill Murray is a class act but Richard Dreyfuss made this movie. “It feels right because you’re here and it feels right because you’re leaving.” lol

    i agree with you. this comedy is much better. my favorite line: " but i'm not like the other doctors bob, the only difference between me and them is that i'm going to blow you up"

    I always imagined an episode of “The Big Bang Theory” with Richard Dryfuss as himself. Sheldon is a big “Jaws” fan and wants to meet on of his movie idols and as usual starts to harrass Dryfuss and drive him crazy.... try to picture this scene with Sheldon... in fact the episode would be called “What About Sheldon?”

    I love folks from other countries loving what Hollywood has given to the world over the decades. It has truly blessed so many with humor and emotion. Of course, our country owes a lot to England for the acting-bug, but the film industry is purely American, and has made probably a half trillion at the box office LOL
