  • This video explain how to find out the support reaction for frame structure and how to draw shear force and bending moment diagram for a frame. Frame consist of one beam and two columns beam has been loaded with uniformly distributed load of 4KN/m and column is loaded with transverse point load of 5 KN. For more details please watch full video.

    Question
    I have got confused with BMD why moments on the column B should not be zero like column A ,I know because of the point load of at column B but only when you doing the Area bit confused,could anyone explain to me thanks

    I thought the UDL would create a positive clockwise moment

    • @jumbleofjargon
      @jumbleofjargon Před 3 lety

      Ali Mohamed Remember, the moment is taken about reaction B so B is a fixed point. Imagine holding the frame in one hand at Reaction B. The 4 kN/m uniformly distributed load can be represented by a 40 kN point load at the center of the horizontal beam. If you’re holding a model frame in the air. Your left hand holds the frame at the bottom of the column supported by Reaction B. If you use your free right hand to push down on the center of the horizontal beam, what would happen? The left side of the Beam would bend or tilt counter clockwise.
      Hope this helps :)

    this is a strange way to do it, it appears wrong if you run it through a simulation like beamguru

    OBJECTION .
    Given that beams A (8m) and B (4m) have different heights and therefore should NOT be represented as having the same dimension.
    The diagram is misleading.

    • @jumbleofjargon
      @jumbleofjargon Před 3 lety +1

      LGL_137 No Name Both columns are the same height. The horizontal point load on column B is located in the center of the column, 4m away from Reaction B.
