(His dad does home renovations and they take the old materials and reuse the scraps all the time) It's not crazy big or anything, it's just a small ramp with about a foot drop and a rail, and the surface is maybe 20-30 sq ft of plywood. It's still cool asf, he can practice ollies and kickflips off his gap and he can practice grinding on a rail

From someone who did a lot of 43s, 86s, no complys, no comply flips over planter boxes, step off shove-its, qtips, qtip shove-its, etc. You don't actually "step off". The pop happens by "slipping-off". You must learn to slip your toe off the board. Only then will you learn to FLY...
When the front foot is removed to make the foot plant the rear leg has the knee touch the front of the board to guide it while doing the fast plant that's what a real no comply is.
Go back to when the first no complies were being done and see what those are they are nothing even remotely like what you think they are.... It is a thruster and Ollie with a foot plant and the knee from the back foot rides above the front truck to control the board and it's an inline move there is no 180 involved....
