I'm arts student and I took honours in political science and all of my mates in honours were toppers . All of them including me were an aspirant of UPSC ( IAS). Without arts the country would be impossible to maintain. Respect all the stream, don't discourage the upcoming generation, stream is basically based on our interest. Even I'm the topper since during schoolhood and all teachers recommended me to take science stream but I follow my own interest.
You do realise that you DON’T need an arts degree to run a country. UPSC ke aadhe se zyaada toppers eng, medical ya koi aur stream se aate hai. Besides, cracking government jobs is almost close to impossible even for toppers. Every school has a topper. Every city has like 70 such schools, every state has more than 29k, and you can only imagine what the number goes to when you take the entire country into account. Please humble yourself, modesty will bring you a long way. no genuine topper goes around bragging they’re the topper. I was at the same position at one point in time but giving competitive exams humbles you down immensely. That you’re just a small part of this big world. Having even a little bit of security, a backup plan of sorts with a “safe” degree helps a lot. I’m saying this from experience.
UPSC has a success rate of barely 0.1%(further there is reservation so it reduces your number of seats to 40% out of 100 even if you are confident in yourself) Please don’t make it your only option in life. There was an IIT Bombay topper who spent his entire 20s trying to pursue the very dream of becoming a civil servant. Running on the hope of becoming a civil servant with a non-employable arts degrees is useless. Especially degrees like political science, philosophy, sociology and history which do not prepare you for the corporate world. It is not worth it unless it’s from the top few colleges of DU or JNU. In the end you’ll have to join some courses or do another degree to actually get a job outside of teaching(not to mention, teaching in itself pays very little). Please don’t run on the high horse of “we run the country” when arts graduates don’t. ANY degree is eligible to get you government jobs. Both my parents are UPSC qualifiers (my father is in IAS and my mother in CISF) and they both were in engineering and medical field respectively. the people who qualify come from ALL backgrounds. In case you’re talking about politicians who run the country, most of them barley managed to pass 10th grade

It's not as easy as you say. You can study science or commerce just on the surface as an art student, but going in depth would be difficult. Science is not what you see in random CZcams videos or movies, it's much more complicated. I say this after passing 12th grade this year.

RIP for engineers those who are graduating from either tier 2- 3 colleges or get themselves involved in engineering without any interest and knowledge or passed their whole 4 years in fun. Then
they've to open some panwari shop, food stall or some other low grade job and they shouldn't be called engineers just becuz they are having degree.
