liverpool v man united 1988 with united 3-1 down and with ten men they come back to earn a draw thanks to a deflected bryan robson and cool gordon strachan!
I went to this game and remember the whole day vividly, it was mental inside the stadium - a deafening crowd and goals being celebrated by pitch invasions. Hard to believe it's 25 years ago.
united only won 2 titles before both world wars in 1908 and 1911. the next one came in 1952 1956 and 1957 then 1965 and 1967. then there was a 26 year gap till 1993 . even with this gap and lack of winning trophies consistently united remained huge all over the world. even when relegated into division 2 in 1974 packed house at old trafford 63.000 every match. barcelona are an exceptional team and no shame in losing against them. but even with that united remain the worlds best loved club AMEN

I agree with you about houllier and Benitez ,Kenny has got more out of the players in his short time as manager than the last couple of jokers,he will get them playing football the Liverpool way and get closer to the top teams
I was stood in the away end. When strachan made it 3-3, loads of scousers in the seats by us streamed for the exits, cue a few thousand United sending em on their way with a gleeful chorus of: "Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio!" Our double decker back to lime street got ambushed at traffic lights that day. A scouse mob came out of an alley and lobbed half the contents of a pub at the windows.
Did you know Liverpool are releasing a dvd showing all there best matches from the 1980's. Ive read that it's so in depth and concise that it's going to be released on Beta Max!
@zzzaaa0990 i couldnt agree more liverpool vs utd were nearly classics all blood and thunder ,no quarter asked or given ,it sorted the men from the boys, as a liverpool fan i always thought man utd under achieved in the eighties they had a very decent side with a great captain in bryan robson ,they always gave liverpool a great game
@nattydress One of the lucky few like me that had an away end ticket, all 1000 and 1000 seats. Piss take seeing as we used to give them all scoreboard right round into United Road. Bin dippers are still at it banning us for standing now
zzzaaa0990 2 years ag "Let's hope Kenny can restore pride and play to the Liverpool ethos again" So, you Norwegian gloryhound, how did that work out for you ?
Still sweet 30 years on. 😊
Strachan’s celebration. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

not packed but utd support always been the best bar the odd season
@@martinhowarth81 fair play mate 👍🏾
@@redflag8970 yeah can't deny that....bigger crowds in general all over the country...but defo utd have always had the numbers
half the world's modern players would have dived at 1:59. these were real men.
Love the pace at which this game was played.
liverpool struggled against man utd in the 80s.had a pretty lousy record against them
Was at this game, One of the best games Ive been to live. Mind you Not long after half time I wanted to go home. Only being at the City 5 Utd 1 game was worse. Only the pie n coin throwing in the Kippax was entertaining that day (and the fighting before and during)
Knocker Norman flying in. What a legend!!
Some good tackles in there even for a highlights package. Proper game.
I can not believe I can’t find a single comment about his celebration
I watch this on match of the day and remembered the celebration more than the goal to be honest
another great match between these 2 rivals
united was in the kop taking the piss haha good times
Liverpool - Man.Utd is always a classic!

A different time,a different game.
3:25 Terrifying tackle by Norman Whiteside on Spackman!
Gordon Strachan,
Great player..
Chris Turner, dodgy keeper
Beardsley ❤️
Nice one Gordon.

I don't know where to start with that embarrassing nonsense.
Don't miss that shitty corner you got a Anfield,can't believe no one was seriously hurt in there.Great game & again the dippers couldn't beat us.
The Steve McMahon goal! oooosh.
@BadEggCymru
Mullered? The match was fixed. Beardsley's supposed 'offside' goal, and Grobbelaar's non-attempt to win the ball for Wimbledon's goal.
Davenport - the Ashley Young of his day job

@masstransit2 Have you forgotten the 1990 FA cup final? He didn't play for us again after that
Easter 1988. Remember this well!
a great match
Utd always a match for Liverpool in the 80s. They just couldn’t get themselves up to beat the rest consistently so never won nothing.
ah how i would have loved to at this talk about atmosphere
scouse busting classic
Liverpool have been... Sounds good.
liverpool were great then but the good mullered at the cup final by Wimbledon and mcmahon got smashed by Vinnie Jones
@slouchpcs72
So tell me again, who won the league that season?
Was at game beating my fist off roof of main stand liverpool should have been 5 or 6 ahead
@ps07857 Jim Leighton came to united at the begining of the 1988/1989 season and he was terrible at dealing with crosses lol
@nattydress
One of the lucky few like me that had an away end ticket, all 1000 and 1000 seats. Piss take seeing as we used to give them all scoreboard right round into United Road. Bin dippers are still at it banning us for standing now
@SugerBoyMo
So ? His goal kicks were worse than his crossing. Anyone who went to games in that period would tell you so
And your team are where ?
lol we stil won the league that year
@SugerBoyMo
He wasn't all that bad with crosses, His goal kicks were fuckin atrocious though
