    Could you give me any ideas why a bolt carrier would jump one of the guide rails on the receiver and jam up? This has only happen once, but now the weapon is having problems charging a shell, sometimes grabbing a shell from the magazine and sometimes not which it didn't before(I've used several different mags with same results).. My Ak only has about 350-400 rounds ran threw it and no issues until this happen.. Any response is much appreciated!

    I'm noticing a lot of scoring and pitting on the cam channel groove. Is that normal or should i get a new bolt carrier and if it does do I need check headspace or can I just drop it in and go?

    What if your firing pin retaining pin refuses to come out? I've been hammering down on it the past little while now and it just doesn't want to budge from the bolt.

      You tapping it from bottom? The Pin is on top wider than on the bottom, upwards is the only way out.

      @@jayblast1697 I sure did! I ended up buying a Wheeler punch set so I'd have a proper 1/16th punch and it came out with ease. I guess the pin punch in my buttstock cleaning kit is just a tad too thick.

    Good video, but I'm not sure why it was necessary to remove the furniture. I have never had to remove the furniture on mine for anything and certainly not for cleaning purposes.

    • @BiggumsMcHoney
      @BiggumsMcHoney Před 3 lety

      In part 2 he dunks the gas tube in water, for the case of dissolving residue left by corrosive ammo. I don't think it would be good to dunk the wood furniture in water. But yeah, I don't use corrosive ammo and I don't remove the furniture from the gas tube when cleaning. (Also not dunking parts in water during the cleaning process like in part 2)

    • @richrhocks
      @richrhocks Před 3 lety

      @@BiggumsMcHoney I mean yeah, water does help in the case of corrosive ammo. It dissolves the salt so your gun don't rust. I mean pretty much every one just shoots wolf or whatever these days. Probably not to many spam cans to be had with corrosive stuff these days, but who knows?

    Do what I do wait until you shot around ten thousand rounds then clean it with brake cleaner then use WD40 to lubricate it. And if you're afraid to do it then buy a ar15.

      Buddy, it was a chapter in firearms technology. I seriously can’t stand people with the mindset that firearms like the AK47, the 1911, the M1Garand, etc etc etc -are still just as useful today as they were *decades ago* against modern firearms. at least I can admit that *my* favorite guns were replaced for valid reasons. I love my Beretta 92FS, my 1911, my ar-15’s, my SKS, my Mauser, my M70, etc but I’m not gonna cry and say that they’re better than modern rifles/handguns. The AK47 is nothing more than a chapter in firearms technology, they exist now as inspiration for others to improve on (just like the SKS) to innovate and to make “the better gun”. There are modern firearms out there that I do personally dislike and with good reason but that’s not the point.
