이 곡은 '이어도 사나'(제주 해녀가 노를 저으며 부르는 노래) 민요에서 주요 선율 중 '이 물에는 어-어-이 사공아-아-아' 4마디를 모티브로 작곡된 곡이다. 중간중간 숨어있는 '이어도 사나'의 선율들이 돋보이는 곡이며 민요의 메기고 받는 형식을 사용해 원곡의 오리지날리티를 살렸다. 특히 한국의 정서를 나타내기 위해 전통 5음계 선율을 사용했으며 팀파니, 스네어드럼 등에서 중중모리 장단을 일부 사용하였다.
This piece was composed based on verses(Uh-Uh-Eh-Eh-Sagong-ah-ah-ah) of the Jeju folk song. The outstanding part of this piece is the melody of IEODO SANA, which is hidden in the middle of the song. The listeners would find this fascinating song's originality by feeling the hidden rhythm of 'IEODO SANA'
And it also uses special rhythm "Jungjung Mori" to make the most of the folk song's originality. We used traditional five scales for the melody to express sentiment of Korean. In addition, Timpani and snare drum are used as a part of the "Jungjung Mori" rhythm.
