Wow. That was cool. My cousin studies Hung Gar. He showed me a little of it, a while back. It's a style that can give you a certain type of strong build. Never seen really good demonstrations of form application. This was well done. I know Marc Singer studied Hung Gar, as he was doing movies like 'the Beast Master.' I remember seeing a flyer at a martial arts school. He was going to do a demonstration with a lot of well known kung fu people near San Francisco. The 5 animals, in Hung Gar, is this cool idea for a martial arts system. From what I've heard, one animal is for developing bone strength, one is for like strong tendon, another is into flesh strength. The training is very exact in what it tries to give the practitioner.
Yes, Marc Singer did study Hung Ga Kuen at the Seattle Kung Fu Club. He also worked out at the South Bay Kung Fu Club in the Los Angeles area with Sifu Richard Cunningham (a senior student from Seattle Kung Fu Club). I very much like the videos I’ve seen so far of Sifu Kanishka. If only this sort of information sharing was around when I was a boy! Unfortunately, everything back then was regarded as a closely-kept secret, such that even “advanced” practitioners might not really understand or be able to implement the forms that they had been taught.
It’s great to see someone who actually knows how to apply Kung fu for once on the internet. I’m tired of all the other fake Kung fu videos and fake Kung fu masters that are making the art look bad.
This guy was dropping gems the whole time. Of course there is the obvious stuff he was showing, but you have to listen to the minor notes and almost self commentary he was doing to put it all together. Examples: "people don't do finger tip push ups anymore." and my favorite, "Learn the form, strengthen the body, and then learn how to use it." I know kung fu and karate are cousins, but this is like kata, hojo undo, and bunkai. The form, the strengthening exercises that make you able to apply the techniques of the form, and the breakdown of the form into pieces that you can use. "There are no bad martial arts only bad practitioners." Great video.
Thank you shifu! I didn't know all of these applications could be found in Hung Ga, especially those techniques. Your instruction always highlights new aspects of a technique.
This is one of the best videos I've seen on realiatic form application and the end message about finding a proper instructor who will teach you not only the martial aspect but how to be a good person and use your martial knowledge for self defense and not to be a bully was very well said. Thank you for sharing 👍🏾
Very nice, Exactly what I was looking for. Too often you see slow motion replays of “What if“ situations with any martial art really, Whether it be eastern or european, Unarmed or with a weapon, But this is actually a great demonstration of the art against an unwilling target. Very realistic, Thank you.
Thank you shifu for sharing. It would be very interesting to hear your point of view on your particular strengths/ strategies with others such as shifu shi heng yi and grand Master Jiang yu shan.(if you are interested in sharing knowledge with others of course).
Hi Sifu. Do you find that pak sauing jabs works well? I noticed you pak-ed then tan sau with the same arm. Does this work well for you, and do you try to move to the outside/off the line when possible? Thank you.
This is some good shit!!! I like your tree too, now I want to make a hanging log planter hung from a dead branch. Quick display of landing your relax to bounce his power, very nice. If Jeet Kun Do is Intercepting Fist then this is Intercepting Body.
Just some suggestions. Pak nearer to the elbow, not too far out. Try to intercept/control with tan. The lower kick should be done on the weight bearing leg and it can also be used as a kick defence.
Shifu, apart from duan da, can we categorize northern Shaolin styles like changhuxinyimen and qi xing under close quarters?? Also, please discuss much more about the northern system in the aspects of mid and close range fighting. Even though they were alot about long range. Regards.
Kungfu as all ranges..forms are blends of different ranges...few specifically has close rages , Chang Hu Xin Yi Men is Takedowns, Throws so i generally treat it as medium range
Very nice. Good sifu. I would recommend maybe to use a "green screen", edit and make some Hung Gar demo's and insrtuction. It may add more "modern" vibes to it 🤷♂️
Dear Sifu Kanishka, What I appreciate is your devotion and true enthusiasm to show it as best as possible. Yet small pieces of methodology could do a better job: Before introducing Hung-gar, no the technique but principleoor range of githing would be more infromative, especially to a beginner. I have once heard a great truth of Martial arts that members of schools do not like to mention, as it reveals the possibilities and the limitations of their styles : Range arrenges things in order. Another aspect , you started , in my opinion, from medium distance, for self defence puproses, let me recommend from the Long distance, as I have already written to you. But, I really appreciate your , as recently dealing with all the three distances. - Long distance is the only one offering escape fro a real beginner. The closer you are, the more experience you need! where one has to watch the distance, - At the medium distance, as you put it right, the Centerline is to be watched. -At short distance - in my experiecne one is simply a victim or survives if he/she makes the first move. - either to parry, , or step , duck or hit . When Ia was in an instructor training course som 3 or 4 decades ago, already then it was taught taht.: Reaction time is cca 0,2 sec, while hitting time is shorter o,125-0,5 Seconds. Is there any need for close range blocks? No, Not really. The only one, who survive are those with the so called Multisignal level of percetion- refer to Novák and Špička Czech self -defence theory. Dear Sifu, I was writing you so long out of respect. Acdpt my apology for taking your time, but the LD-MD SD line is a thing I will never decline. Bewst regards. Paul, 66,retired instructor of Goju-ryu Karate.
3:04 that FOOK SAO you use (covering crane) is exactly how I do my #jkd but you know. They’re all experts. 😂❤I do it the same way in a different style. Says a lot.
I love hung gar...if you can get such complicated movements out in a real life attack...then you're an awesome master! I do wing chun...what has helped me survive were the principles and not the techniques....the techniques went out the door with my adrenaline dump...the principles of movements and constant pressure worked best...well for me anyway....ground fighting?? Now that's another animal...no disrespect....this Sifu seems very knowledgeable!
Please show us some applications of Hung Sing and Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut, especially about Kwa Choi, Sao Choi, Nao Choi, Chap Choi, Phao Choi and Kap Choi
I like a lot of this, it feels pretty solid and you're clearly comfortable with more intense drilling at the very least, but I wanted to raise an issue with the kicks and armlock-style movements. Are you really that confident those techniques would reliably break a limb? I find it more likely they're intended to hurt and move a person, setting up follow-ups. To forestall the obvious objections, I acknowledge that those movements could certainly break someone's leg when done from just the right angle, in a strongly dominant position and with maximum force, but that kind of perfect moment seems more likely to come when, well, you're the bad guy; to set that up properly you would need to have already dominated the fight to the point where it was no longer the only option.
100% agree. I have applied these in combat and can say that these motions, at best, dislocate joints. To break something you need really strong force and probably a lever of some kind - like when breaking a piece of wood on a curb. Most often joints just over-extend then pop right back in place. Not as useful as one might hope. - Hung Gar practitioner for 36 yrs.
Are you sure that the "crane's beak" is used this way? Will this strike be strong enough? Why is he needed at all, such a strike? What benefits can we get with it?
Sifu , I like to learn martial art, but I have heard that muay thai is more helpful for actual combat , since it is used for the ring. Is your Kung fu can be used on the ring and real combat?
Fighting in a ring is not actual combat, it is a sport. Most all of these techniques are not used in sport fighting, breaking someone's leg is super brutal and super cruel and should only be done in combat. Unless you think like Jon Jones, anything to win mentality. Also in the street, you can wrist control but not with kickboxing gloves. Same with a snake strike to the eyes and such. Imo mui Tai is great for sport or mma, but hung gar was made in and for the streets.
Iwant to learn online martial art from you will you teach me sir.i have also taken blackbelt but ,it is not sufficient for me .that's why iwant to learn from you thankyou
About time a Kung Fu instructor is able to show usable techniques. Awesome

You're fake too so what's the big deal? 🤷♂️
Try check out: 808 FRONTLINE
he has videos on Kung Fu application
Even more tired of all the backseat martial arts critics who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag thinking any martial art besides BJJ is fake.
Try to watch Master Wong
Steven Segul type shit 😂
ONE OF YOUR BEST VIDEOS!!
Very clear presentation, useful, and a really cool style. Please more!
Thank you Sir! 🙏
Thank you for doing your part to preserve the traditional arts and bring awareness to the masses of the effectiveness of Hung Kuen.

Hi Sifu. Do you find that pak sauing jabs works well? I noticed you pak-ed then tan sau with the same arm. Does this work well for you, and do you try to move to the outside/off the line when possible? Thank you.

For the crane's beak you can also use hammer fist, palm facing up. Its nice and powerful from the hip. Its like swinging a baseball bat.
Good alignment, good usage
Magnificent Butcher poster for the win. ;)

There is some vídeos made four years ago from Hung Gar Grandmaster Sigung Lam Chun Sing, Lam Jo’s youngest son, showing those Hung Gar applications.
You are best in the world
Muy interesante.
Nice sir
Will you come to HK sometime soon?
Good job.
Are you sure that the "crane's beak" is used this way? Will this strike be strong enough? Why is he needed at all, such a strike? What benefits can we get with it?
very interesting
⚠️EXPERT ALERT “Wow.. that was impressive. The moves 💯😉💥percent realistic. The form. 💯🤛😉percent on point. I’m gonna finish n leave a another comment.
👍👍🙏
Ps. Subscribed 😊
Good
Nice reminds me of Baraka From MK.
4:00 I noticed that elbow to the head works well also in this combination
Nice
That was some nice earthbending.
Which style is practical for street fighting. Wing chun or hung gar?
I find it cool as a WING CHUN n Jkd guy, that you use PAK SAO and PO PEI. We have both of them. 💯🙏😉
Wah, berapa genre kungfu yg sifu kuasai? Saya lihat shifu menguasai wingchun, lalu hunggar juga
Fucking brilliant!!

wait this guy is good sheesh!
I want to learn this style. Something about it. I wonder if it'll go well with JKD?
Muchos dicen que no sirven...para peleas callejeras me parece feroz....👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do you know Choy li fut?
What is the first technique that he explains in the beginning?
I like Wing Chun but I believe the Hung Gar style is much more complete and powerful.
How did you get Sub Zero to be your training buddy?
Will these be effective against someone like Francis ngannou or Jon Jones ?
2:13mins That says everything about Kung Fu, as a combat system in today's modern world.
😃💪
Plz sir explain about wing chun dabble hand strike ...chi sau...
for this to understand, you will need to experince it yourself(you need to touch the hands with teacher)
@@cryptonewbie3699 ohhh ok....sir but I will try to learn your movements in wooden dummy

#trapping hands,

How does this art differe from wing chun?
