Sonor Product Manager Frank Boestfleisch describes the brand-new AQ2 Series, the features, the construction, available setups / single drums. Find out more: www.sonor.com/aq2
I treated myself to the AQ2 bop kit in white pearl wrap.. Its a stunning kit! Seriously Sonor have done something really incredible with this range. I couldn't get over the build quality and most importantly the sound! I compared it to my other kit and it blew the thing away. Anyone in the market for a new kit I would strongly advise giving them a demo. Well done Sonor.
I would say Sonor, Tama, and Yamaha have reached the pinnacle of drum building in the modern era and can offer so much more for the money than most other companies do in terms of build quality, consistency, and sound. While the SQ2's are still the best drums money can buy, the AQ2's certainly aren't anything to shy away from. Excellent drums.
I've had two SONOR kits and really enjoyed them. I've thinking about the smaller kit(s) lately as I've played more often in smaller venues. These changes align with the needs of drummers who play either kind of venues or appreciate how you can option your kit to match your performance needs. Impressive design, use of the woods, and commitment to excellence. I like 'em.
there's little reason to spend over $1,500 on a 4-5pc drum kit these days, unless you really want or need something custom I also noticed the Ludwig Neusonics new at NAMM around $1,000, they are fine drums USA made and sound pretty close to any "high-end" Ludwig kit I'm sure the AQ2's attempt at this mid-range price point is not a coincidence
2:01 “...add a second rectum…” 😂 - love the kit, though I wish there was an option to *not* drill the bass drum. From what I hear the shells are made in Taiwan, and the rest of it including the hoops and the hardware, is made in Germany.
On their website they are offering add-ons .. smaller toms and snare and bigger floor toms .. www.sonor.com/fileadmin/hohner_group/sonor/00_website/minisites/aq2/AQ2_Broschuere_A4-Einbruchfalz_final_lo-res.pdf
Ever buy a low to medium priced kit to gig with while your good drums stay home? Ever wanted to add on to that kit with another drum, but they don't offer it/can't make it? Did you find that size in another range only to know that it was in a different finish or a different shell material? ALL the other manufacturers do this, and their answer is the upsell. Nope. Sonor finally realized how dumb this is and did something about it . Congratulations. I'll be ordering the Studio kit and extra bass, toms and snare later this year. Can't wait.
Definitely. My main kit is a Tama starclassic bubinga hyperdrive kit that stays at home and only use for big shows or studio or practice at home. Bought a Tama silverstar barely used for 400 bucks and it’s an amazing kit for the price and is built like a tank and takes the abuse of the road no problem. Definitly doesn’t have the starclassic/star top of the line robust hardware but sounds and feels great and gets the job done.
Hey Sonor, I have the AQ2, and expanded with an 8 inch tom and an extra 14 floor tom. All toms and bass drum sound phenomenal, even like the SQ2, but the snare drum is crap, sounds very loud, with a lot of "snare" and impossible to tweak . the same for the snare itself ,which tend to sound like a marching drum. IU tried from low tuning to high tuning,,raising the batter head with smaal incrementals from 1/8 turn till cracked up , changed the drumheads several times , but the result stays the same. The sound even does not change, or very little, between low till high tuning. Buying another snare drum is the only solution. I know that the Sonor sound is different from others, but for the snare drum I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL.
I had a Sonor Force 3007 kit (circa 2007) and was basically the same as these but with different finishes and lugs. I really didn't like the stamped steel bass drum claws, and they're still using them. They really need to dump those things and go with something cast. They really bring down the overal quality and modern aesthetic of these kits. Time to upgrade guys, been using those way too long now. Probably still using the 1.7 mm rims also.
@ Th0mas2471 good luck getting add ons I've been waiting over a year for a replacement bass drum lug that was bent when I took delivery of my Infinite kit. Talk is cheap Mr. Frank Boestfleish !
@@SonorDrumTube - I’m so glad I saw this. I was planning to buy one of these in Stage configuration with a 22” bass drum once I moved to the USA, so that I could replace my Mapex Saturn V that I’m selling in Australia when I leave - the Saturn is a top quality kit. However the lack of Sonor spares in countries outside Germany is a serious concern - cheers, @stickman5454
roberts If you’re going to criticize people on their english, probably time to learn the difference between “your” and “you’re”, dumbass. 😂😂😂I bet he speaks English better than you do, and it’s obviously not his first language. Way to make an ass of yourself, knucklehead.
roberts you’re an idiot! You need to work on your grammar before you even attempt to bash on someone else. You just made an ass out of yourself. Ass clown!

…what make/model/configuration is your ‘other’ kit 🤔
I really like the white marine pearl! Its like Benny Greb's drums at an affordable price.

Yes, but Mapex is also good I think
Pearl is also in that group for me, but yes! Those brands are doing good stuff with the high end drums and the more affordable stuff
Well said.
Sonor's lower level drums surpass some high end drum lines from other companies..
Just bought the Martini kit in aqua silver fade. These drums sound absolutely great!
These are great drums. Thank you for the video.

I think it's great sonor is reaching out to mid market consumers. I own a high end Delite kit and it's the best set I've ever played.

Oh dear I need this 😭
Love sonor

Love the tune in the background
Chris Coleman?
Yes, the master.
It’s a Kaz Rodriguez song, I forgot the name. It was written for Chris and he performed it on Meinl’s CZcams channel.
Love it...
A smart move 👍🏼
Are these shells made 12mm short like the vintage, sq1 and sq2 series?
Hi. I'm very excited about new series :-) How about add-ons? Is it possible to buy separate drums (toms or bassdrum)? Thanks
On their website they are offering add-ons .. smaller toms and snare and bigger floor toms .. www.sonor.com/fileadmin/hohner_group/sonor/00_website/minisites/aq2/AQ2_Broschuere_A4-Einbruchfalz_final_lo-res.pdf
Absolutely. All drums in the different setups (www.sonor.com/instruments/drums/aq2-series/) are available separately. Happy combining! ;-)
You guys are planning new series AQ1 aren't you? :-D
Is the SQ2 still available?
Absolutely! The AQ2 is there to replace Select Force and bring the Special Edition Kits (Martini, Safari and Bop) to a new level of quality.
yes absolutely .. now you have the 3d configurator..
Is the White marine finish wrap?
Yes.

Why don't you guys make drums with Mahogany?

how about sonor lugs?

AQ2's are actually much different. Lugs are cast, 2.3mm hoops, and the claws are pretty good as well.

Hey - please contact us via info@sonor.de and forward us the original mail thread so we can look into. Thanks!
@ Sonor drum tube. That's another thing this web site that you want me to use is not available in Canada. Strike 3 !!!

Sonor PLEASE make a 13” rack tom
They do Jack Dejohnette plays a 8-10-12-13-14-16
Are these made in China or Germany?
Shells made in Taiwan, and hardware, hoops, lugs etc. in Germany
Great. After SQ aka superb quality (SQ2, SQ1) now AQ aka average quality. Makes sense to me ;-)
The Marketing Dood prefers "Advanced Quality"... ;-)
Average Sonor drums are still superb.
@@SonorDrumTube "Average" for your drums is a cut above the rest honestly
Aq2 series spend less money than an SQ2 series kit, and still have a superb quality drumset.

I'm handsome.
dear franck your great but as a global Player you must learn to speak english perfectly..
roberts - How well do you speak your second language? I can easily understand Frank's english.
