Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is an exaggerated response to excess hormones. It usually occurs in women taking injectable hormone medications to stimulate the development of eggs in the ovaries. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) causes the ovaries to swell and become painful.
The cause of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome isn't fully understood. Having a high level of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) - a hormone usually produced during pregnancy - introduced into your system plays a role. Ovarian blood vessels react abnormally to HCG and begin to leak fluid. This fluid swells the ovaries, and sometimes large amounts move into the abdomen.

I just found your channel today. I'm so happy for you! Congratulations on such an incredible outcome with this retrieval! Looking forward to cheering you on to your next little ones.
Aw thank you so much for such a beautiful message 🥰 that honestly is so kind x
Thank you so much for sharing, I’ve been through 3 egg retrievals in the past year and the last one I did recently was so so difficult, I feel your pain!
It will be my first and last ivf, I just had egg retrieval yesterday and this morning I had diarrhea and the worst pain ever, I started crying and regretting ivf .. nobody prepared me for this, watching your video is so comforting, I had 34 eggs retrieved waiting for the call today .. hopefully everything will be fine on the next days and that I’ll have some eggs left since I am not planning to go thru injections etc one more time.. thank you for your video ♥️ I hope also that I will not feel this pain again ..
Aw hun I am so sorry you had this experience. It’s such a difficult journey both physically and mentally and in sending you all the love. You will be in my thoughts over the next few days ❤️

Sorry you are experiencing OHSS, the pain really is indescribable. It was hard to eat as there wasn’t much room from all the bloating.

Hello just came across your video. This is my first IVf journey. I had a Er on Friday and ended up in the hospital that very night going into Saturday morning. They said I had fluid in my abdominal going to my right side ribs. That's why I have had such pressure and discomfort. I followed up with my fertility Dr that Saturday and he said he saw blood clots as well. We were schedule to do a fresh transfer but opt out and decided my body is just not ready. I'm still in pain. Bloated. Pressure and it hurts to walk breathe laugh yawn etc. Do you recommend me taking anything and what to eat and drink? Thanks so much. Have you had your transfer yet?
Aw beautiful sorry you have been in so much pain, it’s such a uncomfortable and painful thing to go through. I hope you are starting to feel better, I know it can take weeks for some.
I would follow what your FS has said, for me I electrolytes for a life savour as I could fit much in.
We have done a frozen transfer now and am currently 16 weeks ❤️
Wishing you lots of baby dust beautiful and rest up xx
my partner got ohss after transfer, hospitalized 2 weeks, drained 5l of fluid via catheter. crazy pain. But luckily it also meant pregnancy was taking off and now expecting a baby this March. But crazy how so few know the full risks of this.
Congratulations on your growing little one ❤️
Yes, not told much about it during the process but my goodness it’s a horrible experience to go through.
Any foods you ate at the time,,, the pain is horrible
Along my painful IVF journey now… how long did it take for you to start feeling back to yourself after egg retrieval?
