  • In this video, we're going to be taking a look at the Vevor Thickness Planer. This planer is a great tool for woodworkers, but is it worth the money? Better than Ryobi?
    If you're looking for a planer that will handle a wide range of thicknesses, the Vevor Thickness Planer is a great option. It's also easy to use and has a lot of features that make it a good choice for beginners. Based on this review, it seems like the Vevor Thickness Planer is a solid investment for woodworkers who need a planer that can handle a variety of thicknesses.
    I use a thickness planer to turn all my rough sawn lumber from my sawmill, into nicely planed lumber to build my cabin with or do other projects and having an inexpensive thickness planer that does the job without spending a ton of money is important to me!

    Thanks for showing us this Vevor tool. I came looking for a suggestion of a planer since I need one. I don't have a sawmill but I purchased some old rough lumber and I am going to repurpose some more of it from what I salvaged from an outbuilding. I like your explanation and think I will give the Vevor a try.

      Thanks! I'm still making use of mine and it continues to do the job!

    Can you tell if it uses standard 13” blades. Or. Special order required.

      I have no idea. When I bought my Ryobi, it was my first, so I had to dig around but found them on eparts online. Vevor may be the same way, but in a dozen years, I only replaced blades on the ryobi once.

      Blades can be purchased on the Vevor website

    The 2 speed you talk about, is it for the feed of the board, or the cutter speed?

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That is avgreat question! I believe it is cutter head speed

      @TheOldJarhead As a machinist, I could see a smoother finish coming from a slower feed rate, since the material would be passing the cutter at a reduced inch-per-minute. But, I'll take your word for it!

      @@mikecarroll3132 I could be wrong 😉 but I thought it was cutter speed. I'd have to look it up

    I am surprised you support and like the Vevor products. Vevor is a marketing company and buy all this stuff from mostly China factories and slap their label on it and do a great job of marketing. The problem is there is NO Service or Parts available for their products. Something breaks and you need service or a part to fix yourself. Good luck. You won't get it. THE Vevor BBB rating is F. 450 BBB complaint files in the last 12 months. Read some of them before deciding to buy Vevor.

      Thanks for sharing! That's something I hadn't heard. I just reviewed the planer which I compared to the Ryobi I've had for a dozen years. I will do some research and follow up. Thanks

      To second this... I have basically this planer from vevor. It doesn't have the 2 speed. I don't think it has 100 bft through it and the feed roll sprockets have stripped off the feed rolls. They are very thin and the first feed roll drive chain is incredibly tight and no way to adjust the chain tension. This is coming from a millwright, not a random joe. So yeah... don't get rid of the ryobi. You might need it soon!

      @TheOldJarhead  Před rokem +2

      @toyota22redude Thanks for that. If I have issues, I will let everyone know. This one has the 2 speeds, so maybe a different unit, but I'll be putting it to the test for sure!

      @@toyota22redude There are two versions of the machine. 1800 W two blade and one speed, and 2000 W 3three blade two speeds.
