Made my way out of religion years ago. I still tell people this is the best song I’ve ever heard. I just recommended it to a friend and had to come back for a listen.
@@caseyparks3954 Same, this is my favorite song of all time. You don't need to be a religious person to appreciate the emotion it adds to the song, especially if you've been religious in the past. And besides all that, it's just plain beautiful music.
Theres always a chance. Even if you call out to God on your deathbed he can still save you. Eternity or the endless void Deny God the source of all life and you'll never have existed. He knew you before he formed you in the womb then he says I never knew you. If God says he never knew you... well you never existed you fade to nothing no pain and suffering no eternal fire you simply just do not exist. God gives you the blessing of never having been created never born. Thats hellfire. Different cultures have changed perceptions and imagery but hell is non existence Ultimately you choose. Eternal life or never having ever existed. Its as simple as that no preaching no long winded bible verses. Your choice non existence or eternity
I'm not a religious person, but Relient K has been my favorite band since I was sixteen and it's never changed since then.... By far the greatest musicians/vocalists all in one band All the members, old and new I'll never forget the times I spent listening to their whole discography Don't sleep just cuz theyr'e a Christian Band.... 👌🏾👌🏾
The last minute of this song gave me such great comfort during a near death experience I recently had. I thought once again how important love freely given to ALL is the greatest calling and the greatest gift on this earth. I am not religious, but my near death experience strengthened my love of Jesus Christ in a way no church ever could. It's all about love. Thank you for sharing your amazing gift freely given.
This this song is what sung me to sleep before my heart stopped beating I woke up in the hospital 3 days later out of a coma still my favorite song it's gotten me through some sad times and some good times I appreciate you guys a lot
To be clear, Relient K is a christian band. I don't think they care what you are or what you believe in as long as you feel the connection to divinity. I hope everyone finds what they needed here.
I love how, even though Relient K has some strange and funny songs, but they still have these few songs that have a deep meaning. In other words, 10/10, would sing again
I was so scared of Jesus But He sought me out Like the cancer in my lungs That's killing me now And I've given up hope On the days I have left But I cling to the hope Of my life in the next Then Jesus showed up Said "Before we go" "I thought that we might reminisce" "See one night in your life" "When you turned out the light" "You asked for and prayed for my forgiveness" You cried wolf The tears they soaked your fur The blood dripped from your fangs You said, "What have I done?" You loved that lamb With every sinful bone And there you wept alone Your heart was so contrite You said, "Jesus, please forgive me of my crimes Sanctify this withered heart of mine Stay with me until my life is through And on that day please take me home with you" This got me today (as it does everytime) :(
Relient K - The greatest rock band of all time, who bring joy to so many people and can go right from a song about being on the "Up and Up" to your last day on earth sitting in your "Deathbed." It will continue to cease to surprise me how amazing these guys are and how underrated they ALWAYS have been! Love you guys! :)
Feeling this line realizing that the person I love is losing love for me and taking to another guy more than she does me and there’s nothing I can do it’s a hurting feeling
This song was such a damn important part of my young-adulthood as a 90s child, I will always treasure it like it's gold. I do not go to church anymore, but I consider myself a religious/spiritual person, so this song hits me right in the sternum, even if the story in the song has nothing in common with my family's story, lol. The thing that gets me is that two bands/artists came together to make this amazing track.
For me, this song reminds me of my favorite person in the entire world. My grandmother. The parts about smoking and death make me think of her because she quite literally smoked herself to death. She had COPD, but still smoked. Whenever I hear this I cry because I wish I could hug her again and smell her. I just hope she's proud of me...
2021's here....this song is one among my favourites!such a soul searching song and indeed true Christian gospel🤍💫God bless Reliant K and everyone else who drop by to listen🙏love from Nagaland,North East India.
The 7-10 split sounds like my life currently. "You "cried wolf" The tears they soaked your fur The blood dripped from your fangs You said, "What have I done?" You loved that Lamb With every sinful bone And there you wept alone Your heart was so contrite You said, "Jesus, please forgive me of my crimes Sanctify this withered heart of mine Stay with me until my life is through And on that day, please take me home with You" Is the best part of the song for me.
Literally can't listen to that phrase and not cry, even after having thought the same prayer myself. It speaks to so many ppl then to end with "I Am Love"
@Birick same my brother. Sometimes a rude awakening brings out the real man out of us, the one who is on fire for truth and love. I am more committed to be a better man now, than I was before the big split. I believe that pain is a necessary step towards growth: "growing pains". I am blessed to be able to stand and continue this journey through life, with God on my side. To all of you guys, don't lose hope. As long as there is life, there is hope. Romans 5:1-8
Genuinely the most poetic and emotional couple of stanzas I've ever heard in a piece of music come from the second verse of this song: Got married on my twenty-first, eight months before my wife would give birth. It's easier to be sure you love someone when her father inquires with the barrel of a gun. The union was far from harmonious. No two people could have been more alone than us. The years would go by and she'd love someone else, and I realized I hadn't been loved yet myself.

I cannot emphasize enough how this song is pure art. Beautiful message, amazing storytelling (I love how Matt really does sound like an elderly guy telling a story) and the Holy Spirit clearly very much guided the songwriting process. God literally used this song to help me forgive someone I know who passed away from cancer (something that's been a stronghold for at least a couple years.) This is like Christian rock music's Bohemian Rhapsody, and us millennials didn't deserve music like this but needed music like this.

I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can't believe this is the end
But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I'll be home
The year was nineteen forty one
I was eight years old and
Far far too young
To know that the stories
Of battles and glory
Was a tale a kind mother
Made up for her son
You see
Dad was a traveling preacher
Teaching the words of the Teacher
But mother had sworn
Went off to the war
And died there with honor
Somewhere on a beach there
But he left once to never return
Which taught me that I should unlearn
Whatever I thought a father should be
I abandoned that thought
Like he abandoned me
By forty seven I was fourteen
I'd acquired a taste for liquor and nicotine
I smoked until I threw up
Yet I still lit 'em up for thirty more years
Like a machine
So right there you have it
That one filthy habit
Is what got me where I am today
I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can't believe this is the end
I can hear those sad memories
Still haunting me
So many things
I'd do again
But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I'll be home
I got married on my twenty first
Eight months before my wife would give birth
It's easier to be sure you love someone
When her father inquires with the barrel of a gun
The union was far from harmonious
No two people could have been more alone than us
The years would go by and she'd love someone else
And I realized I hadn't been loved yet myself
From there it's your typical spiel
Yeah if life was a highway
I was drunk at the wheel
I was helping the loose ends
All fall apart
Yeah I swear I was destined to fail
And fail from the start
I bowled about six times a week
The bottle of Beam kept the memories from me
Our marriage had taken a seven-ten split
Along with my pride the ex-wife took the kids
I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can't believe this is the end
I can hear those sad memories
Still haunting me
So many things
I'd do again
But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I'll be home
I was so scared of Jesus
But He sought me out
Like the cancer in my lungs
That's killing me now

I can hear You whisper to me,
"It's time to leave
You'll never be lonely again"
But this was my deathbed
I died there alone
When I closed my eyes tonight
You carried me home
I am the Way
Follow Me
And take My hand
And I am the Truth
Embrace Me and you'll understand
And I am the Light
And for Me you'll live again
For I am Love
I am Love
I, I am Love
