    i think the hero statistics are super interesting. the most likely explanation why they make so many tops and then fail to finish is just that the deck environment in tops is not the same as in the earlier rounds, so they end up having to face more of their problems in the laters rounds - just a probability game. bw and vayu don't struggle with this, since they - as you mentioned - have fewer vulnerabilities. that being said, i don't think hero has been optimized yet - the numbers just don't entirely work. imo a 35 card approach with 3 upstarts and 2 yatas makes the numbers work much better (imo the same is true for bw, but no one is ready for that discussion yet, since bw does fine as is). hero seems very consistent at first, but spark + alius, blast + alius, mfusion + hero + water are a lot of dependencies that add up. there's one thing the draw power would not fix though - the deck runs out of steam a bit faster than bw / vayu, especially if they hit your mfusion or stratos.
    i think resilience is the #1 factor that makes vayu and bw the top decks. you mentioned the side deck, but even in g1 it just feels like these two always have multiple lines of defense, and are much more free to not overcommit out of fear of not applying enough pressure.
    i think none of the top decks struggle with "internal consistency" (bar maybe dragons), where they get beaten by their own hands - especially if heroes go that final step of optimization. but "external consistency" is what puts stuff like zombies, and even hero frogs to some degree a bit below bw and vayu - they're just a bit more vulnerable to interference

    Heros having 40 tops and 0 wins exemplifies it as the definition of consistency but low power, low risk low reward. Aka using flamethrower(hero beat) instead of fire blast(dragon turbo, u auto win if u draw the god combo aka the spells)

    2 you always go +1 or even when you lose a monster since you can sum your synchros for free from grave where other decks need to use more resources to do something similar

      @@beastmode123 there are cards that benefit from crows discard, like avarice, dad, chaos sorc, and im sure more that i havent found yet. Set ryko pass isnt exactly a big tempo play, and the chances of milling vayu(base 40) is only 7%, depending on the outlying support in the main deck, I would argue that crow has a better chance to be net positive than negative. Also can chain to discard. Grepher and plaguespreader are inherent neg ones or 2s on their own

      @pr-pc8fq Před 7 měsíci

      i suppose the sample size is still rather small + decks can perform well if they have a higher ceiling, even if it comes at the cost of being less stable - there's a bunch of lower tier decks that are stable, but just stable at a meh level, while something like dragon turbo is arguably less stable but can blow you out of the water when it works. but imo edison is at a point where you need to be stable + have a good ceiling to do well consistently (imo dragon turbo will fall off, not just because it's degenerate), so i suppose that is not a relevant point. i fully disagree with bw being more stable, but yea, sample size makes arguing with results a difficult endeavour.
      in the end i think both decks are very very stable

    • @algirdongas1
      @algirdongas1 Před 7 měsíci +3

      In a head to head matchup, I'd take blackwings, it's more consistent and stronger overall. Vayu is a better OTK deck though. Most things are decided by luck and skill in such a matchup, though blackwings are less punishing to suboptimal play.

  • @KompletterGeist
    @KompletterGeist Před 7 měsíci

    Hero decks just get stopped too easily by oppression and rugs. You play against any vayu deck in top cut, they can side 5-7 cards that downright end your turn and invalidate your hand on resolution. Hero beat can trade better but lacks top end power but when you switch to Diva Hero, you will eventually lose to bricking. Those factors stop heroes from being truly s-tier imo.

      I see tengu format as the opposite side of the coin. Like with fighting games, when they do balances you got buffs and nerfs. Edison is so diverse because every deck is equally nerfed allowing more decks to compete. While tengu got the buff patch, every deck is stronger than its edison version.
