Can’t believe I am still watching…it’s past midnight and my finger is on the stop the whole time…just can’t press it! Thanks CTA for this one. I started watching TV coz of how I loved Jimmy Gathu on Kiboko Club. The one I will never forget is when he presented the show in the hospital with his co-host Lorna Irungu when she was hospitalized 😢! May she rest in peace🙏🏾! Jimmy is a legend.

Grew up in Kariakor, went to St Teresa's Girls, this is so relatable. Knew of Jimmy both in school and in the estate. Yes the coup of 82 was traumatic. Great to hear his journey from yet another angle.

Jeff Mwangemi used to bring 'yours for the asking' on KBC English service on Wednesday. The montage was Jive Soweto by Sipho Mabuse. Good old days!!

The coup event was so traumatizing. I was 8 yrs and was so confused by seeing grown ups running around in chaoric manner. I remember seeing military land rovers filled with military men holding AKs . My parents grabbed us and locked us in the house and told us to lie down completely. Not to even walk to the bathroom so that no stray bullet could get to any of us. Very dark day i remember 😮.

Lived in Ngei Phase 2 Langata during the coup. Our househelp walked out of the gate to go to the shop and promptly returned with an armed military man behind her. I had never seen my father on his knees outside of prayer until that man entered our home. My sister and I were banned from marrying military men.
