I still think you should run these challenges with a printing pod mod that disables dupes and only offers resources. While it might be a tiny bit easier that way, it is also more interesting, as you have a better chance to last till cycle 75.
This is a pretty good idea, but wouldn't folks think we took an easier way out?
@@EchoRidgeGaming I think people will prefer to see you struggling on the edge of losing a dupe for the full 75 cycles with the help from a printing pod, rather than have it happen at cycle 20 and end the challenge.

I was trying this with 25 dupes and it was going amazing until cycle 40 when Max got pissed off and punched a wall.
That wall happened to be the wall to the infinite CO2 containment cube, releasing a kiloton of CO2 into the base and rapidly outpressurizing the vents and oxygen production machines, i couldnt dig fast enough to diffuse the CO2 and EVERYONE DIED
Great effort though. This made me laugh. 😂

Here's a couple of suggestions. Duplicate time efficiency, food and oxygen are your three priorities. Put in a power spine and put all the hamster wheels together. This will reduce travel time. Put only the minimum number of hamster wheels on the power grid to keep up with consumed energy. This will keep the duplicants on the wheel all day and reduce more travel time and use less dupes. Get hydroponic tiles down right away and plumbed in. Any new seeds can be planted into those. Get into ranching next because 249 bog buckets would be needed to keep dupes alive otherwise. Ranch everything and anything. You also need 10 grills to cook all the bog buckets. Only 6 micro mushers are needed to feed all the dupes. I've taken into account that 1/4 of the population might consume more calories.

One other thing that this challenge requires - minimizing the height of the rooms. Meaning only 2 and 3 tile high rooms. This saves dupe travel time a bit, which for this challenge snowballs quite quickly.

For food with the goal of 75 cycles I'd try to start an automated pacu farm. Dupes can start with mechatronics engineering so if you gun for the research you could reasonably set up multiple pacu breeders that start their free food output by cycle 30. 15 breeders would provide 10 pacu every cycle. You'd need about 1k pacu to feed your dupes entirely off of free cooked seafood so with 15 breeders you'd have 1% of all future food needs per cycle. Just remember that it takes about 20 cycles for a pacu egg to hatch and die of starvation so each breeder will take 20 cycles to start producing its food.

Hey there Echs, if you really need food for the 75 dupes, spindly grubfruit (or tended grubfruit if possible, better morale AND the food dropped by the plant at harvest is wayyy more than spindly) is the solution. All you need now is a pip, which sadly I don't think you can get one fast enough. Luma experimented with other x dupes/x cycle challenges, and pretty much all of them over 50 resulted in deaths after 30-40 cycles

An idea on oxygen generations, is to make "offgassing layers":
- Make layers, 2 empty tiles between layers
- Add a block on both ends, so water can stay on there 1 tile high
- on one end, also add a Bottle Emptier (make the layer above smaller to fit it). Alternate the sides of the bottle emptier for easier fitting
- Fill the level with polluted water, up to the endstops height
- as one end is not pathable (1 tile height), Dupes will not path through them. While surface area for polluted water to offgas is maximized.
- once done, fill the next level
- bonus points if you can make it so one levels overflow will fill the level directly below.
You should get 1 offgassing layer every 3 tiles height. And it easily stacks.

I don't know if it's still a thing but dupes used to breath less o2 when they had to hold their breath. I haven't played in a few months but I used to use it to my advantage.
Francis John made a prison for dupes where he abused that "feature" to make dupes consume very little O2
I love you're challenges, please do more of those with more "modifiers", like more dupes, science tree completed, i dunno, but would be fun! :D

If you find magma, drop polluted water on it to make sand.
You can spawn dupes by holding alt or ctrl and hitting F2, no need for debug mode, I have accidentally done it a few times trying to get the automation overlay up while having fat fingers and no dialling wand

Hi Echo! Not my main account, but just wanted to say I enjoy watching your videos. I've been playing this game since close to it's start, and I'm still struggling to learn proper energy and labor distribution. It's better now but always a learning experience.
That said, I was wondering if you're ever planning on doing a video about Shove Vole ranching. More specifically, Delecta Vole ranching. I know it's not the most sustainable until maybe late-game, but I just can't get Delecta Voles happy enough to start producing Tonic Roots; that's despite the food they eat is right and the right temperature.
Again, just wondering if that's in your plans anytime soon. Either way, it's a joy to watch you play challenges and make tutorials on various aspects of the game!
I do have a vole tutorial on the list. I wish I could tell you when, but each video takes planning and prep. Thank you for watching and good luck with your game!

Hey Echo. I have a challenge for you! The "All Facts, No Printer" Challenge! Start a new game, now roll for the Spaced Out scenario with the most frozen friends you can find. Spoiler; After an hour, the most I could roll is 3 frozen friends among the 7/8 planetoid variants. Now the moment you load into the game, disable the printing pod. NO PRINTING ALLOWED. Now, colonize all asteroids with your limited crew. With the hermit story quest, expect to only have 7 dups work with by endgame! Should be a challenging experience.
Let me know if find a seed with 4 frozen friends, I don't have anymore patience beyond rolling 3! I have a notepad of seeds if you want~.

I'd definitely would be using the flower pot food plant exploit to grow the Bog Buckets, as long as I can get a Pip in the early game. Might have to teleport to the second asteroid and hope it has a forest biome with Pips and Pip eggs to bring back to the main asteroid
does that even work with bog buckets? if i remember right, that exploit only works with things that require solids to grow, but not liquids.
@@janekpriimagi Ah yes you're right, instead of Bog Buckets I'd use the exploit for the Grubfruit. I keep getting those two mixed up!
He ran across pip eggs already... don't know if he let them hatch and eat the pips though, didn't show that in the episode. I would've let them do their thing, so I could get free food in the long run, so no more feeding plants. Guess he needs to find some Dreckos.

You have a lot of dirt, just boil the pWater. Of course, you'll have to get plastic and such to do that. But, with the CO2 skimmer, and a CO2 vent, you have an endless supply of dirt, along with that pWater vent. Of course, most of that would be later game... and you'd have to find it first. But boiling Pwater using that minor volcano would be perfect...
Of course, you should be food sustainable long before then I would hope.
The Carbon skimmer doesnt produce extra pwater

A great hall can +6 morale and is really cheap to get by to alleviate some dupe stress. But 75 of them needs like 5 lol.
I think he mentioned that it will not be super great because the dupes have to bring the food all the way to the hall before they can eat. Then it’s gonna increase chance of death by starvation. I suspect that now he’s more stable he’s for sure gonna put those in next episode
IF we get to some sort of stable point, as Squishat said, I would consider it. As of right now, someone would die walking to the great hall with food in their hand ha.

what's bad with abyssalite breaks? i heard they suck but idk why
Abyssalite usually contains the temperature of the biome. But when the string of abyssalite is broken (usually by a Point of Interest room), it lets heat leak into the next biome, which is usually ill-equipped for a different temperature.

have you considered doing the opposite? like a mini-series challenge with not 50 or 75 dupes, but just one. not a survival challenge, but to see how much a single dupe could manage, and maybe end it with say, getting to space, or if you're committed, the temporal tear. just an idea, though chances are there'd need to be a lot of cuts since projects would take a lot longer.
I have considered it and plan on doing something with it some day. The problem is everything would take a long time.
@@EchoRidgeGaming yeah it will. I'm doing it rn actually, started a few days after making this comment, and I only barely got glossy dreckos on cycle 170. plus the matter of skill points, needing to constantly respec for sweepers or mining or whatnot

9:16 with 75 dups have idle dups is SO BAD...you should q up 10-15 dup wheels...5-10 more o2 makers..and 10-20 more massage tables..+ set it HUGE HUGE digging plans the whole map..and it is really late now but still needs to be done you should lay out HUGE food plots of everything...i mean at this point you should Q up like 200 planter boxes...AND like 10-20 grills and mush bar makers.
23:00 64000 kcal is less than 1 cycle worth of food
So far so good. My guess is cycle 75! 🎉
