I think what is remarkable about this scene..this is the happiest Vhagar looks in the series. Laena Velaryon treated Vhagar like a close friend.
And we can see that Laena and Daemon was happy.
Yes, she knew how to communicate with Vhagar really well, different from what we see with Aemond.
I think Vhagar had a gentle soul even though she is a dragon. I think she truly liked Laena, maybe she reminded her of Visenya who she had a really strong bond with. I think Laena really saw a friend in her and not a weapon like many did
Laena was good for the old war dragon. She was kind and knew dragons are wise and not slaves. Having a kind person as her rider probably had Vhagar very mellow, plus laena was said to fly with vhagar like everyday.

I know that Daemon singing to Vermithor is a major league display of badassery, but flying through dragon fire is a whole 'nuther level.
ive seen tons of people saying things like "he must be fireproof like Dany was" after this episode aired but honestly it's not much different than jumping over a fire pit or waving your hand through a flame, but i agree still looks cool all the same! 👍🏻

Facts. Targaryens are heat resistant and, while Dragonfire is extremely hot, at such heights and speeds, its not much of a danger to Caraxes and Daemon.

I think Vhagar was just happy to have another rider. Her bond with Visenya was well known, and she was extremely reluctant to kill Laena.
Aemond is literally Visenya reincarnated in male form. Laena also had that adventurous touch that Visenya had, which is what Vhagar seems to choose in riders. Rhaena is softer, Vhagar wasnt the right dragon for her.
This scene is important in a way not a lot realize, because in the end those two dragons who seem to bear no ill towards each other will end up being the death of one another due to the agendas of their riders.
It’s tragically poetic, really.

I do like the variety the showrunners gave to the dragons, and this scene pretty much demonstrates that perfectly. You can tell just by watching how they fly. Vhagar, being the largest dragon in the world, is essentially a tank. She's all power, moving in smooth, fluid strokes. Caraxes meanwhile is a lot leaner and more aerodynamic, so he's able to pull off tighter turns, steeper dives, and can be a lot more acrobatic.
Yh like example vhagar doesn’t even fold her wings when diving she spreads them out and bassically glides
While in the other hand caraxes folds his wings then open them up when he reaches close to the ground …I also like fluke every dragon is unique

I would give anything to ride Caraxes. I know dragons aren't real, but if they were I'd claim the blood wyrm. He's by far the most impressive dragon I think.

@@anatoldenevers237 It's just my opinion, but I don't think Balerion was all that impressive. All he had was his size really. They don't say he was a great flyer, he wasn't loyal or anything, just that he was big.
Vhagar & Caraxes, two extremely powerful Targaryen Dragons, flying together just like the days when their riders were brothers Baelon & Aemon Targaryen. Tragic how circumstances eventually pushed them to opposing sides of a nasty civil war.
I love caraxes screeches and roars.
One day this video will be lost because everyone will be watching a completely different Vhagar and Caraxes video...

Love this scene, the music goes so well with it.
People in Essos would be surprised. they are the remnants of Valyria. But the dragonlords that should've been perished long ago are successing its blood and maintaining the spirit of dragonlord in Westeros... And they are called the kings. Not even Valyria had monarchy. But the small dragonlord family fled in a small island of Westeros is now ruling a big continent.

The scene where Caraxes flies through the fire of Vhagar is interesting, makes me wonder if Daemon is a true dragon like Dany in GoT where they say "fire cannot kill a dragon". Or is it just that Caraxes blocked the flames? I do recall reading somewhere that Daemon was referred to as the last 'Dragonlord' (not dragonrider) of Old Valyria.
The fire couldn't hurt him because of the speed. But what you say is interesting.

No.. point that they wanted to show, is that Caraxes is THAT fast.. he can fly through ring of fire without burning his rider. Which will be important later in the show.

All he sees is an amazing ally in the fight against the triarchy threatening Pentos.
They are terrified as much they are amazed. This display evokes the power of old valyria who once ruled them. Back when the behavior tolerated in westeros now would have triggered a the freehold sending a dozen or more dragon riders with army behind them quash any displays of disloyalty.
Vhagar is huge.

It's interesting how Caraxes has webbed back legs. Seems almost like a fighter jet. And the speed/aggression she took those G forces in that dive was really cool. I have a feeling she's going to be vicious in the dance of dragons.

My complaint about this series is that it feels so rushed, I don’t have enough time to really care about the characters. Adding more moments of Daemon and Laena would have made my care more that she died tragically. I wanted more moments of Ser Strong as well.

Edit: OK, just to clarify a few things! I have a problem with the way they punctuate the syllables in _Dracarys,_ not the actual volume itself.
It's realistic IMO. Whispering commands at a dragon while in flight doesn't really make sense considering winds and all.

Consider episode 10 is 20 years later from the episode 1. He should be about twice as big as younger version of himself
Caraxes was almost 70 years old during the dance of the dragons
While vhagar was around 150 to 200 years
i thought that too but if you go back and look at Leana on the back it's just as the shot is coming from Caraxes they look similar but when Leana asked Vheagar to dracarys her to death it did seem a lot smaller in that scene!

@@Not-Ap they both were warrior queens, makes sense. Laena was calmer with her and she was happier in general, also considering her age, but that doesn't mean she completely changed. Her last rider was a lot more unstable than Laena, it probably contributed to it, there is a magical connection between the dragon and the rider after all. Like Vermithor. Although he was the Bronze Fury, when Jaeherys rode him, he wasn't at all furious by himself. Only when his master required it. Aemond has no control over Vhagar whatsoever, which led to all this. I'm just sad that Vhagar had to suffer so much. Because of one stupid kid the whole generation of dragons and their dynasty was gone, Including himself.
@@-_-ligmaThat wouldn't have happened unless Laena has the emotional range of teaspoon like Aemond does. Laena had impulse control. As bad as Daemon is, so does he. Aemond does not. His actions led to that interaction with Luke. They weren't just flying and Arrax attacked her. Aemond started it.
