I went to a Catholic parochial school. The teachers, for the most part, were nuns. If they were armed, Sister James Carmel would have shot me 500 time during 3rd grade.
If nuns are packing, watch out 😮 particularly the nun that taught my third grade, she was already beating on kids and throwing are locker cloths around to name a few that has stuck with me 😅

As a former career teacher, I have to say that if administrators or the Board would have told me to have a gun in the classroom, I would have quit on the spot. What a horrible idea! Dangerous idea!

Kind of reminds me of where I used to live. 4th floor apartment. The front door had 3 locks. But I never locked the back door leading out to the patio. And someone told me once that I should always lock that door. I said why??? They said, what if someone climbed over my balcony and and like tried to steal my 62 inch tv or something. I said if they can get up to the 4th floor balcony, grab the VERY heavy tv and take it back over the balcony railing, they're very welcome to it.
As a former teacher of 23 years, I can tell you right now, terrible idea. Not to mention, WHO IS PAYING FOR THAT? Teachers have to buy their own classroom supplies, but yea, the districts are gonna buy guns for them. DOMINION, DO NOT SETTLE!

You have teaches that absolutely should not be in a classroom. Me and my spouse grew up together we went to the same schools. Really great area where everybody know everybody. The one thing that me and my spouse never repeated what many parents did back then, was take the word of a teacher over our children. There were absolutely teaches that had very big issues mentally. Teaches some of them many years later arrested losing their pensions. They should do background checks and mental stability on every teacher. We had great kids honor students, but our children know mom and dad always had their backs never would we allow our children to fear a teacher. And the teachers were very well aware of it we stayed very active with that education and very active in the school. Starting with PTA then getting on the board of the PTA volunteering constantly so they know who you are and who your children are. You have teaches and it's very sad for the child but they don't connect and that child either act's out or becomes depressed low confidence. There was a story not too long ago third grade the teacher had some kind of a breakdown and they found the teacher in a coat closet! Give teachers a gun? No way. Fight to get the schools secured like you would secure your home.. because of what is going on School should be like Fort Knox. Talk about kids having anxiety because they had to wear masks is ridiculous. These children go to school knowing these shootings are happening constantly I can't even imagine. Many parents are taking their kids out of these dangerous environments because now teachers who have had it opened up K through 12 ..online.. in your own neighborhoods teachers who are getting permits doing construction on house and teaching your children right out of their homes.. care about the safety look into all the options. And that governor in Florida because of the smart teaches that got out unqualified people going in the classroom to teach your children. Not a chance keep your children safe👦👧👨👩👫👪👬👭🙏🙏🙏

As a visiting nurse, I went to a lot of senior buildings, all the doors were locked , at front door, There was an intercom system you had to buzz in, and you did not get in unless they knew who you were and why you were there. I’m not really sure why the schools cannot do this, And addition to that why can’t the classrooms all just have a lock on the door for extra security. Has no one thought of this? If all the senior buildings have intercom‘s and lock the doors, they are all safe. Why can’t we do it with our children in the schools. All anyone does is talk about guns, guns, guns, arming the teachers, security cops at every entrance. Why not just a locked school with an intercom system no one enters unless someone knows who they are or where they are there.
My daughter is a teacher. She says she will quit the day some of her fellow teachers are armed.

As a former grade school teacher, I will just point out that in order for teachers to keep kids from getting their hands on the class handgun, they would have to lock them up well enough that if a gunman showed up, they wouldn't be able to get at the gun. That's if teachers should have to carry guns, which isn't their job. At all. As for those few teachers who want to do this: One teacher who brought a concealed carry gun to school in Utah shot the toilet in the faculty bathroom, injuring herself with the shards.

I find it interesting. One teacher I know placed his gun on the desk during his 2nd week of teaching after being threatened by a student. He was an immigrant who taught child development at university and teachers College before teaching in New Jersey in the 80s. He proceeded to win many awards for teaching. Until I immigrated to North America I did not understand. North America does not have bad education systems. Just really bad students. Check out the immigrants who excel in every discipline while North Americans lose their ability to understand words

I had a teacher who would regularly leave class to go do something in the hall. Some of my classmates said he had a little anger management paper that he would repreat to calm himself, and a few years later, we had a teacher who literally told us we were the reason she was quitting

I had a teacher in high school and then a different teacher in college decades ago before I knew what dementia looked like that clearly had dementia. They definitely seemed past the early stages. Unfortunately my stepdad taught us all about what it looked like as well as all the support groups we joined. It takes lots of testing to get that diagnosis but my gut says they had dementia after living through it with my stepdad.
My fear is you are putting the problem at the issue. A teacher will leave one out and a kid will get it.

Arming teachers is such a terrible idea. You can’t plan for an active shooter, there’s no warning it just happens. If people know the teachers are armed then they will just be the first ones shot. Not to mention every time the classroom door opens the teacher has to make a split second decision as to whether the person entering the room is a danger or not. Do we need to add accidental shootings by teachers to the toll? Wtf!!
