  • Watch Sovereign Innovations: • What is an Indigenous ...
Climate change impacts our natural environment, but it's also a racial justice issue. Communities of color in the US and globally are impacted first and worst by flooding, heat, and pollution. That's why environmental justice advocates from these communities in South Carolina are working toward solutions-from monitoring the water in their neighborhoods to lobbying their local legislators.

So, is it possible to be civically engaged outside of formal activities? Citizen Better will follow KJ Kearney as he finds the ‘informal’ ways to be civically engaged in everyday life so that viewers can feel empowered to make a meaningful impact on the reg rather than just on election days. Like shoes, one size does not fit all, “trying on” various types of informal civic engagement KJ will find what pairs suit him to make a footprint in our democracy.

Thanks for this series! It’s really nice to have some direction on how to be involved and make changes in my community. I love learning about ways that I as an individual can combat the climate crisis & environmental racism/injustice. I have information processing difficulties so having a “this is what’s happening, and this specifically is what you can do about it” approach is really helpful for me. ❤

T'm proud of these young, Southern African-Americans being empowered and taking action to make a difference in their communities and the world.

This is important to be covering and boosting! Antidote to total doom starts in places, and with actions, like these.

I’m glad for the kids getting involved. Yet the wider system they- that we all are in- just isn’t sustainable

A good start to help stop climate changes negative effects is to stop cloud seeding using dangerous chemicals.

People need to update their parlance. It’s not global warming or climate change, it’s a climate crisis.

It's nice that young folk are involved, but simply testing your local water and spreading some knowledge is not enough. You won't find solutions this way. We need to get money out of every equation. As long as politicians are being bought by lobbyists and corporations are making billions of dollars, the environmental crimes responsible for our ongoing climate disaster will continue. We do not have enough time to vote our way out of this catastrophe. Rise, rebel, resist, eat the rich.
