my heart found peace for the first time back in the 90's in the CH. From there I knew what I wanted to be. It was so warm in the winter in those rooms. RIP CH.

@@johndough3125 yeah! Luckily i got to stay there for like 3 nights! really not too long before they were bought out again & closed down for "renovations!" my ass imho they are destroying the place & it's been in a never-ending sad limbo state for years now! & even if they do restore it to what ever generic five star wannabe hotel that they have in mind! They are KILLING the Vibes of the Chelsea!!! they arr killing the one of the very very last remnants of the old NYC!! ending an era! i get it maybe spots of the Chelsea were maybe starting to show their wear! & may be considered outdated but that's what makes the Chelsea the Chelsea it's one of a kind homey accepting environment with amazing unbelievable creative vibes & a time warp to a bygone era! it's just a unique place in a league all it's own!!... i mean it was considered a new york city landmark in the 1960's & added to The National Register of Historic Places in the 1970's so you would think that they couldn't touch the damn thing! But you know i guess billionaire douchebags can get around anything if they want it bad enough! which sucks! but it's true! it just makes me so damn sad & depressed when i think about the Chelsea in it's current state & what they doing to it! & whatever it id they're trying terribly to accomplish! & i hate whoever is responsible & calling the shots! & wish that they would just piss off!!!.. anyways i'll always cherish those memories of those three nights at the Chelsea!! best time of my life!! i'll never forget it!! plus i went along with my mother who was also interested in the Chelsea & she loved it too! & she sadly passed a couple years ago! & so that makes me cherish the memories of that three night trip to the Chelsea even that much more! because it was a fun time me & my mom had together! & just meant alot to me!... so i will always love the Chelsea period!.....

I've been in a Nelson Sullivan rabbit hole the last few weeks which has led me to learn so more about the Chelsea.
Sad that Stanley died just last month after all this time. RIP to a true artist for keeping the doors open on a sliding scale for so long. That takes more than business acumen.

Boy oh boy the Nelson Sullivan rabit hole! I have been such a fan of his since I got served up a video of him and Dick Richards going to a McDonald's! What a nice and intriguing guy Nelson was. I too am watching this after watching again the video of Nelson qnd Christina before she died at the Chelsea. I find this history important and fascinating.

Stanley Bard was one of a kind. They don't make them like that anymore. He was a true artist himself as well as a friend to all that lived inside his walls. He honored the creative spirit...the same spirit that signified New York before it got destroyed by the money mongers and those choosing to make Wonder Bread out of Pumpernickle so to speak. It is no longer the beautiful gritty city of possiblilities it once was. Forgive spelling. It has been whitewashed and all the charm is disappearing. Sad.
