The eulogy Cher gave at Sonnys funeral was very moving, I have watched it a number of times, it's full of feeling, both happiness and sadness, and humour as well as she remembered the good times they shared. You can have many different feelings towards someone you are/have been close to, but they are still nevertheless valid, real feelings, if you truly did not care for that person any longer you would feel nothing.🌹
Cher was so connected to Sonny & loved him so desperately..but Sonny was never faithful & when she divorced him is when Sonny realized what he really lost. I have watched Sonny eulogy by Cher so often & yet it still makes me cry..

I remember The Sonny and Cher Show and when they welcomed Chasity and she was such an adorable child. The show was fun to watch but then the affairs started and the marriage was soon over. Cher removed herself from the shadow of Sonny. She had the talent and he had the business save too keep her uninformed.it worked for awhile
It’s the story that broke so many hearts 💕 sad for both of them but they tried really hard ! What happened behind closed doors was their story we can only let it be - I’m sure it was hard being in the public eye so much - they did their best 😎🇦🇺
Yeah, this story broke our heart too. But we guess somethings just aren't meant to be and that's okay. Cher moved on happily, and she takes everything with so much pride. Just look at her, she's not phased by any of it! ;)
The song, I got you babe told the story that the public wanted. In reality of course,the relationship had big ups and downs . Like most duos they eventually split.

You could tell that David Letterman show meant a lot to Sonny - to be able to sing that song with her again. I didn't know it then, but apparently it meant a lot to Cher too. It's funny Carol Burnett and Cher had the same clothing/costume designer. And, also that the Donny & Marie show was very similar to Sonny & Cher, with the female putting down and making fun of the male, plus they all had the same guests on their shows.
After the Sonny & Cher show ended, that kind of show was considered tacky, and I didn't like Cher's disco song "Take Me Home". Cher was a has-been and a joke. So, I thought (a lot of people did) that Cher's career was over. But, she got a part on Broadway and got rave reviews, she did more movies - great reviews - and she legitimized herself in the eyes of the world and became a superstar on her own. When she decided to go back into the recording studio and sing again, I thought that would put an end to everything she had worked so hard to achieve, but, no... She had hit records and her career carried on even bigger and famous than before. It was like someone flipped the switch and everything she touched turned to gold.
Living in Hollywood for 30 years, I used to see Sonny in front of his restaurant to greet people when they would arrive for lunch or dinner, and he would walk them into the restaurant - the restaurant was at the crossing of two streets in a "Y" configuration. I also worked for a photographer that had worked with Cher on some very of the more famous pictures of her, but they had a falling out, so I never met either one of them.
But as a kid, we watched Sonny & Cher, Donny & Marie, and a lot of other shows that are part of my memories of growing up.
I still like the Cher joke that - There are only two things that would survive an Earth-destroying nuclear holocaust - cockroaches and Cher.
Cher was sabotaged by Letterman with that song. She said it was too emotional for her. My husband and I saw Sonny and Cher at Melody Fair in Buffalo NY after the divorce and when she was married to Gregg Allman. Sonny joked about it, saying things like "Is he here, is he backstage" but it was tense even though they gave a great show. It was the '70s and we all remembered how great the show was and how happy they seemed as a married couple and Allman wasn't the husband she thought he would be. She's not had an easy life.
I've always admired her ! She's very stunning and beautiful. I loved her in all her movie's! My favorite was she played an atty. She was great in that.

Yep he sure did - ! Cher was devastated Bless her soul she was always there for him but he just kept breaking her heart ♥️- so I guess she decided it was time to move on - it’s hard to keep relationships together especially in the public eye - I respect them both - they tried !! 😎🇦🇺
and Instead of letting her go _(get divorced)_ like she asked multiple times, he decided that they would just _stay together, but "separated" and involved with other people_ without the public's knowledge. I'm glad Cher filed for Divorce after she met the Exec producer who helped her get out of Sonny's Contract and left Sonny for Good.

Wow, I guess that's when they could keep secrets in Hollywood .I grew up watching them . I always liked Cher so much. She reminded me of a model . I was really little and didn't watch much t.v. but that one show is what I watched.
Cher has been many things in her career including being a model- she had the figure and she could wear anything and look good 👍 > As well as a great singer she has remained relevant for six decades - she certainly made her mark in history not only in movies but on the top charts - 😍 I think she’s a remarkable woman 🌹😎🇦🇺.

The marriage to Gregg Allman was doomed before it again. No drugs/alcohol, didn't matter. Cher said later "Gregg, being from the South, thought women's roles were "make it in the bed, then make up the bed".🤣 Frying pan to fire with Allman. edit They also remained friends after the divorce. Allman always spoke highly of her in interviews.
We lived in Buffalo NY when Cher brought Gregg to see an addiction specialist. She got off the plane looking horrible. All of the heavy make up she had to wear for the shows had poisoned her skin and she was a mess but she didn't even care. She would have done anything to get him off the drugs. Gregg was like Elvis Presley when it came to women. They were put on the planet to make men happy and their needs didn't matter so I heartily agree with you that the marriage never had a chance.

What does being a Republican have to do with Sonny & Cher being musical entertainers that split up. Sounds like you just want to bring politics into this-we are talking about a marriage relationship & their only child-if they cheated on each other, then that would likely be the reason for their divorce. Only the two of them knows what really caused their marriage to end. It seemed as though they did love each other, but adultrey is never acceptable in any marriage & they were very young, had an age difference which might have caused some problems as well. It is sad to me that they could not stay together, I liked their songs & their show. I'm sure there were probably regrets on both sides later on. It sounds like a complicated situation for them, doing a show together after things were different between them. That must have been somewhat difficult. They did make a good team for awhile anyway. And when they sang for the last time together on David Letterman, it was great to see that they still cared about each other. AND that was a historical moment in music. We don't always know what goes on in marriages especially those public & famous people. But these are memories from my own youth, listening to them on the car radio! Those were the days.
