That third and forth swell REALLY got to me. After hearing this beautiful piece, I bought a lap steel 2 hours later, with benders. Thank you for inspiring me, Luke.
I had a very dear friend and musical mentor pass away a couple of months ago, he played pedal steel as well as many other instruments. Whenever I discovered a song or musician that I thought I was just another level above everybody else, I knew I could go to his house, show him and he would share my same enthusiasm. You are one of those players! Thank you for playing so beautifully that I'm reminded of him every time I hear your "untitled" segments.
That music brought me back to a simpler time when my parents and grandparents were still alive and we'd all get together during special holidays. Making the trip for me was "going home". Might make for a nice song title for this beautifully played piece! "Going Home".
I do, rsrs. I checked the price of that guitar on Ebay. Cost more than a 150cc motorbike i bought last month. If you can afford to buy one, ok. But to play like this guy is a very different game.
@@brunosampaio2399 The same effect, gear-wise, could be achieved with a £100 lap slide and buying one of Duesenberg's multibender bridges for it at slim fraction of this guitar's cost. Probably wouldn't sound quite as nice. This guy would make it sing, though.
To say Luke has talent, is an understatement. He is knocking on the door of Third level because this guy is working his assoff for it., and the personal test in music, yeah that’s the Other gift.
Love your ambient improvs, and the comments below agree with me in the 'calming' effect your performances imparts upon us(!) I did see you employ a pre-bend LH technique behind the slide...I didn't know that was possible on a steel...so now I must 'steal' it from you. Thanks again, from the BendBurglar!
I've really enjoyed and commented on stuff of yours in the past, and as a relative newcomer to your channel who comes back for another look, I have to say, your technique is admirable. Great little show of passion for a fine art form.
Luke, your playing and composing/arranging are always heartfelt, thoughtful, and impeccably performed. I just discovered your channel and instantly subscribed. Your playing reminds me a bit of the great Greg Leisz (Bill Frisell). Thanks for the “Good Night, Good Doggies” lullaby! Best, - Dave, in L.A.
Man, I love your videos and your music. I've been looking for a solution to get a pedal steel sound from a lap steel or a guitar and it seems Duesenberg found it. Thanks so much
WOW, der. Klang ist mega Hammer, super obertoll. Wie heisst der Effekt damit es klingt wie eine Paddel Steel Guitar ? Dein Spiel ist sehr schön anzuhören, tolles Timing.
Beautiful song. You are my favorite lap steel player; you capture the soul of that instrument. As a novice, I am not yet able to discern the tunings that you are using. Is there any chance you would share that information? Thank you.
Hi Luke. not sure if you remember me I added some vocals to your Sweet Carolina track & sent it to you. was wondering if you would mind if I tried writing some lyrics to go with this great instrumental & send it to you. Steve :)
Hi Luke, I've been watching your beautiful performances and now I'm hooked on lap steel.. Thank you for the inspiration! I've been playing guitar for about 28 years now and a little slide in open D but this is something different. I live in UK and it's hard to come across a Duesenberg with a multi bender for the right price. I think currently there's only one Pomona 6 on ebay for around £1200 (~$1700). Is it a good price? Also may I ask if you can share your current studio kit rig? How do you record with such a great sound and images? Thank you in advance and keep up the great music. Ben (new follower)
@Christiaan Overgaard That is unbelievable, isn't it. I feel sorry for them not being able to appreciate this. How empty can you be that this doesn't move you
I play slide guitar and I always wanted to get into pedal steel. Does anyone recommend a brand in the $500.00 range. Or are Dusenbergs the only ones worth getting, because this guy makes the Dusenberg sound like a dream.
You play so beautifully! Very nice song, I would love to have your music on an album, do you have any music for sale ? Also, how long have you been playing slide for?
Hey Luke, great videos on the Duesy. Have just bought a fairytale myself. Went alt tuning mad and broke a few strings. Decided to stick with open D for now. Any advice on string gauges, tunings? And or do you ever do tuition vids on these guitars. Cannot find much on the inter web. Keep posting these beautiful sounds. Very inspiring!
Look for the Duesenberg Fairy tale or Pomona instruments Sammyboy 72, they have 'palm pedals" fitted operate on individual strings in a similar way to a pedal steel. Like also uses some very clever string bends under the steel if you watch closely. S
A Cali76 :) With the compression set ever so slightly, but boy, do I love that pedal! It really has become my 'Always On' pedal on the board. You guys couldn't have done a better job on it. Thank you!!
Ah, nice! I guess the Duesenberg has a lot of natural sustain, too. Great tone man! I saw some shots of your pedalboard - I would love to feature it on our website's blog alongside this clip. Would that be OK? If so, you can email jack@origineffects.com to discuss anymore details. Thanks

😄I love your dog coming along just to be near you, and he seems to be enjoying your music too. 😊

The song is so soothing, even your pup is relaxed and enjoying your music...
Many people don't realize you are using some very advanced technics.
I do, rsrs. I checked the price of that guitar on Ebay. Cost more than a 150cc motorbike i bought last month. If you can afford to buy one, ok. But to play like this guy is a very different game.
That bending-behind-the-steel thing blew my mind. I don't he used any slants on this tune.

Those left hand bends behind the slide are something else. Great work
Incredibly beautiful. You really have the touch kind Sir.
I would call it "Speechless" because that's how it makes me feel. Thank you for the beautiful music.
Lucky and the Kind is the dog who is sitting and listening to your wonderful sounds of silence.
This piece drew out some surprisingly complex emotions. Stunning. Thank you. :)
I love this song

Listened to a thousand times and it never gets old. Wish it would be ten times as long. My mouse is getting sore.

I am to get one of these Deusenberg Fairytale guitars, they are lovely. An d on a sidenote, lovely dog in the background.
I've really enjoyed and commented on stuff of yours in the past, and as a relative newcomer to your channel who comes back for another look, I have to say, your technique is admirable.
Great little show of passion for a fine art form.
Thank you very much!
Brilliant!Thanks for sharing that.
Beautiful
Great stuff! I retrofitted an old lap steel with the Dusenberg multi bender after watching your Harvest Moon video, really dig that tuning
This is gorgeous...

Nice...
Kind of reminds me of the Cranberries’Linger.
Good dog
No wonder the dog settles so peacefully…..
WOW, der. Klang ist mega Hammer, super obertoll. Wie heisst der Effekt damit es klingt wie eine Paddel Steel Guitar ? Dein Spiel ist sehr schön anzuhören, tolles Timing.
Take your cue from the pooch, and settle in for two minutes of magic.
Beautiful composition.Do you ever use finger picks?
Beautiful song. You are my favorite lap steel player; you capture the soul of that instrument. As a novice, I am not yet able to discern the tunings that you are using. Is there any chance you would share that information? Thank you.
Thank you David! The tuning I am using is GBDF#AD
@Cosmic Beancounter Open chords on a steel guitar aren't fully descriptive of what's going on.
so very beautiful! I am having to teach myself and given the comment below mine, I probably won't be able too : (
Hi Luke. not sure if you remember me I added some vocals to your Sweet Carolina track & sent it to you. was wondering if you would mind if I tried writing some lyrics to go with this great instrumental & send it to you. Steve :)

As of 4/13/19 , there are 6 people who down voted this. They must have no soul.
@Christiaan Overgaard That is unbelievable, isn't it. I feel sorry for them not being able to appreciate this. How empty can you be that this doesn't move you
Great playin!
Is there any more pedals/effects than a volume pedal that you are using?

This is a lap steel with a Multibender bridge system.
What tuning were you using on your lapsteel? So pretty
How can I order a dusenberg
😊💛
You play so beautifully!
Very nice song, I would love to have your music on an album, do you have any music for sale ?
Also, how long have you been playing slide for?
Does anyone know what tuning he is using?
more like This!

Great, tuning?
Thanks!! I’m using GBDF#AD
I think the dog likes it....
what is that guitar? brand name
This is fantastic, but sounds pedal steely; do you have a B bender on there?
Look for the Duesenberg Fairy tale or Pomona instruments Sammyboy 72, they have 'palm pedals" fitted operate on individual strings in a similar way to a pedal steel. Like also uses some very clever string bends under the steel if you watch closely. S
Just beautiful
What tuning is that
Do you have albums for sale?
Such great technique and tone! I hear a SlideRIG compressor at work!?!

Dude! You're killing it! What acoustic where you using? It sounds awesome too. God bless.
Thanks Jeremy! The acoustic is a Collings OM2H.
