In this video, I will show you Vancheron Constantin Overseas, starting all the way from its history back in 1977, and to how it transformed into the third generation, which is what we have in the video, its macro and closeup shots, wrist view to show how it wears on my 6.5" wrist, and my personal thoughts on why I think about where its a winner and where could have been a little bettered.

Great review! Excellent quality shots. Well done. A beautiful homage on a fabulous watch. Could agree more with everything you said. I can just add that the watch is extremely precise. After a year of wearing its around +/- 1 sec per day
Thanks so much for watching and the feedback. Yeah, that’s why i quoted COSC certification in the video. This watch is meant to be accurate as anything.
Wear yours in great health mate :)
I have just put a deposit on this watch at the Miami boutique. The only negative that I have heard that relates to me is that the crystal has not been treated against glare. After a year what have you discovered. I would appreciate your input.
@@roberthiers5606 no problem whatsoever with that. The dial is perfectly legible in any condition.
@@jb6587 Thanks
I just received my new Overseas 4500V. on Christmas Eve. I went with the black dial and i am over the moon with it and lost for words. Its the most beautiful piece Ive ever owned. Thanks again for your review, . It was really the review that totally convinced me to pull the trigger..
Thanks so much for watching and especially to come back and update of your purchase of this beautiful timepiece. It’s a soeciaycualt piece indeed and you’d only love it more each day.
I’m really happy to know my video was able to help. Thanks again and wear the timeless piece in good health :)
Same as above.
I have just put a deposit on this watch at the Miami boutique. The only negative that I have heard that relates to me is that the crystal has not been treated against glare. After a year what have you discovered. I would appreciate your input.
10 months later No dissapoirnents. Never ending honeymoon til this day. A true 41mm that not only looks but feels fantastic on the wrist, like a DJ41 on steroids, just substantial and weighty enough and well distributed with it's 50/50 feel of the detailed bracelet. Love the bezel, dial, date window and sparkling hands/indices that jump off the deep black dial. Inside AR coating would be a welcome on any piece but I see no glare problems. Hacking seconds? I got over that quick and really don't miss it. Very very happy!..
@@nickrice7535 Thank You. I am picking mine up early Jan.
Great review. I've owned this watch twice (regretfully traded) and really miss it. Just a stunning timepiece, especially in blue. The only thing I'll add, in slight disagreement to your fine review, is about the date window. It needs to be that size, with that amount of white space around the numbers, to balance the white hour marker on the other side, at 9 o'clock. Visually it is harmonious that way.
Splendid cinematography and review as well. I like how you spend more time talking about the watch than most others out there, particularly how you perceive it. Your lighting setup is superb, and macro work is on point. Keep it up!!
Thanks so much for the feedback. Soon I’m releasing comparison video of this with AP Royal Oak too. Stay tuned :)
@@HafizJMehmood Perfect, I cannot wait. I'd be interested to see how the dials play in the same exact lighting setup at the same angles. I also wanted to say how I liked how you said it is tough to shoot the Overseas. What is your set up for your shots (Camera and lens)?
This dial is amazing. It looks like it's lighting up like LED when the light hits it at the right angle.
quick switch strap/bracelet, included strap options, anti-mag, water resistance, bracelet micro adjustment. just a few ways in which this leaves the PP and AP for dead.
coincidentally, i was looking at the wg ultra-thin of this model just a few days ago
it is indeed very beatufiul and the design is timeless too. At current secondary market prices of AP and especially PP, it is a steal and makes more sense. I would still not say it can still kill them. It's very close but not yet there.
Hafiz J Mehmood in what ways is the overseas inferior?
I’ll do a comparison review for in depth details.
But in quite a few ways:
1. Date is not instant change rather changes in about half an hour.
2. Brushing on bracelet is good but overall is lesser refined than one on AP.
3. Hour markers have one lesser facet - horizontal.
4. Date window is poorly designed. Lacks aesthetics.
5. Crystal is not AR Coated - reflects light very badly and takes charm away.
6. Time accuracy is questionable. I’ve a mate who’s overseas 4500V is gaining 9 seconds a day.
Hafiz J Mehmood ok I’ll look out for your comparo review
Yeah resale it doesn’t leave patek and ap for dead. I also find this a very uninspiring design which quite frankly leaves me cold. Ridiculous amount of money for such a plain Jane watch imo.
Thanks for a great review .. I have one in blue and love the dial when you are in the sun .. it’s a very dressy watch ..i also love my 15450 silver dial which is just right for me
The Guitar Spa Singapore it’s indeed a beautiful watch. Silver Royal Oak is another stunner. Congrats on very beautiful Duo.
Hafiz J Mehmood and today I just got a call from my AD .. my rolex gmt rootbeer Just arrived .. lovely watch and would be good if you did a review of it .. warmed colour
I have just put a deposit on this watch at the Miami boutique. The only negative that I have heard that relates to me is that the crystal has not been treated against glare. After a year what have you discovered. I would appreciate your input.
I just checked this watch in the metal few days ago. The depth and quality of its blue dial are mesmerizing. I would say it's quite comparable to the famous FPJ Chronometre Bleu(probably they are both made from the same factory?). However I totally agree with you that lacking AR coating on the crystal is almost a crime to such a beautiful dial. Not only you can't photograph it well, even just appreciating it with naked eyes is also hard under some lighting, which is a big shame.
Thanks so much for watching. The dial is breathtaking as you say, but the reflections from the crystal just take away the charm. The date font and lack of hacking ability is another issue.
I have another VC coming to channel very soon so stay tuned 😃
@@HafizJMehmood When I tried to photograph the FPJ CB, soon I understood why I've never seen a good photo of it. I agree your opinion of it and that's why I like the GMT model more than this time-date one(however, there seems something wrong with the GMT movement). Looking for your another video!
Nicely done. Gushing where appropriate, critical where necessary. And beautiful filming throughout. Thank you.
Your reviews are truly impressive and on par with the very best... anywhere. Many thanks.
Love this watch. 3 straps to change the look of the watch for different occasions. My next watch... sick of waiting for the 5711. Been waiting for 4 years now.
Now discon 😩
Very nice personalized review. I want this piece, the only problem I have without being able too see it in person is I'm torn between the blue or black dial.
Nick Rice thanks for watching and the feedback.
The blue is absolutely spectacular. Black is more versatile but if you have black watches already, blue is the way to go IMO.
I just bought mine Today. Get the blue, it’s amazing color. At first I wasn’t sure about the blue , but then I remembered a time I was on a boat in the middle of the ocean. That’s the exact blue for deep water. It’s beautiful and meaningful
Great video. I bought the chrono version with white face, though I prefer the blue in the non chrino version. I never it take it off. Except for my vintage watches and a GMT Master, I ended up selling my modern Rolexes, just because I don't wear them. This is probably my last watch.
Great review from a year ago, Hafiz, thank you. What can I say, the watch is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you Hafiz for the review... very detailed and stunning camera work... I’ve made the VC Overseas 4500V after watching this... with your level of details on watch review, you should definitely have more subscriber
Early Congrats to the Hour Club Robert.. You'll love it. Can't wait to see your Incoming pics.. 👍
I own both overseas and ro 15202st and I think the overseas is a better daily watch. I personally not too concerned with the sapphire reflection as it actually gives the dial and hands a better sheen when light strikes (i can still read the time perfectly). And the date is trivial as most ppl don’t need to check the date when it’s 11pm onwards and probably already asleep. Also the stop second is not important even though good to have because if you want pure accuracy on time just use your mobile phone or smart watch.
I have just put a deposit on this watch at the Miami boutique. The only negative that I have heard that relates to me is that the crystal has not been treated against glare. After a year what have you discovered. I would appreciate your input.
Finally got to see this blue version in person. It was really dark and I actually thought it was black at first. Did not find it that impressive though.
What a brilliant review. I recently tried this watch out and was surprised how nice it was in the flesh. Completely stunning!
Great review! Your camera work is amazing Loved seeing the brushing on the bracelet up close. The 4500v is the best all-rounder imo. The date window kind of looks like an afterthought but there really is not much to complain about this watch.
Alex Gichamba thanks so much for the support. the brushing is top notch of course. Yeah, not sure what they’ve done with the date. I actually kinda dislike it for how small the font is in how big of a white space. It’s not even equally centred. Shame as it kinda puts the whole package off for me. But I agree, can’t complain much, when you consider everything else it has to offer.
Thanks for watching.
great review again hafiz! completely agree with your pros and cons about this VC. i'm in the market for a luxury steel bracelet watch and this VC was in the list (daytona and royal oak 15400 or 15500 being others). when i put the VC on the wrist i was slightly underwhelmed with the finishing compared to my ROC. thanks for the great close up camera work which really allows a comprehensive look at the watch.
Thanks so much for watching and the feedback my friend.
I personally was a little disappointed when I saw it upclose. I loved the dial but during this video I found a few other issues like date and reflexive crystal that put me further off.
In a nutshell, I don’t think 4500v is there mate; and I will point everything out in my upcoming video of this vs 15400.
i could watch your videos all day long. Thanks for the spectacular content.
Thanks so much Mark for your kind words. This week I’m working on something that I’m sure you’ll love to bits 😄
Wait for what’s coming out next weekend 😁
Fantastic review and camera work! I have been eyeing this watch as my next piece for some time now. Passed on it twice already as I wasn’t completely sold on it at that time. Will see.
Thanks so much for watching and the feedback.
I understand what would hold you back. Overseas is beautiful indeed, but not quite yet there. But they’re then still 10 times better than paying over price for Rolex 😅
Hafiz J Mehmood very true! I just picked up a BLNR at retail though so that’s good😆
Wow. Very lucky my friend. Grab it with both hands 😅
It’s a beautiful watch indeed. Enjoy in good health.
Hafiz J Mehmood thank you very much! Looking forward to more of your excellent content!
Really like your content. You deserve more subscribers!
Fabulous watch.
You cannot state that no stone is left unturned when you have (legitimately) criticized the quality of the date finishing; this needs to be addressed in the next iteration.
Agreed. I did state at the end that it’s not a perfect watch and it has limitations but I can clearly see that it’s a conflicting statement. Thanks again I’ll be more careful with selection of my words :)
Have always admired vc but never indulged this one is tempting
Nailed it ! great review, good mix of technical information and design /style. Just right , this is going to be my next watch , but some saving up needed first, maybe a years time.
Great review of this fantastic watch. Excellent macro! I agree about the date - wouldn't pass Grand Seiko QC!
Stunning. I really like the date window proportions actually, the space around the smaller text can aid legibility so shame about the printing quality.
F Sohail yes, I agree it’s subjective. I just find a little bit too much of white space in the date. And font also seem a little off when considering all other design elements. But again that’s just me :)
The paint smudge is a little disappointing and you can see that it’s actually not limited to one date only. The watch date on my clips changed from 22, 23 and 24. All date numbers have the same issue as you can see on the clips. It’s a shame indeed when everything else is so mind blowing.
Thanks for watching. :)
Agreed. When you pay this much you want perfection. I would expect no less.
Overall a beautiful watch. I agree with you on the awful date window...how could VC missed out such an obvious flaw?
Because it is not a flow. The date harmonize perfectly with the rest of the indexes. I wouldn’t want it different.
@@jb6587 The date font type and print quality is awful as clearly seen in the macro shot. And the negative space is too large as mentioned by Hafiz.
@@n.hermanto9667 No. Not at all. The space and the font are great as expected for a VC product. No problem there. So for me very much a almost perfect watch. If you wanna think about things VC could do better I would say missing hacking seconds feature. Would be useful to set the watch to a reference time. But otherwise one of the best watch out there.
@@jb6587 No hacking second is another flaw. On the date window I disagree with you completely, however I understand your position to defend your purchase. Case closed. Bye...
@@n.hermanto9667 not a flaw, a technical decision at VC and for me very much the only thing I would change. I do not need to defend anything as I am very happy with my purchase. Just giving alternative thoughts as I own this model so I might know it a bit, cheers.
Hi Hafiz, I am in absolute agreement with you that the size and font of the date display is wrong and a real let-down on this watch. Its jarring for me as a bad date font is one of the things I often spot and associate with fake copies of other luxury watches.
it's a low end piece from Vacheron. at higher price points you will find the coating ;)
I don't understand the reasoning behind no AR coating, surely it can't be cost cutting. The messy date is also surprising, Geneva seal'd case and movement yet the date almost seems like an afterthought, let's just use something lying around the shop and slap it on.
I like this watch I just think the bracelet needs to have a polished part to give it the bracelet a extra shine it looks like the bracelet is just brushes all the way so there no shine on bracelet apart from the sides .... I love it it’s different. One question do we think this watch will be like the next Patel or Royal Oak ? Soon? I know people will be bored of those soon I think this is next up what u lot think let me know
It’s a beautiful mate and a work of art. I don’t think it will supersede Royal Oak or nautilus ever, primarily due to history that both Royal Oak and nautilus have and it doesn’t.
But with them being already hyped, this Overseas is the next one to shoot to sky in prices. It’s definitely a very compelling contender.
I believe its popularity is just gaining traction and it's on its way to being a top contender for demand outstripping the supply. I'm getting in now.
Hafiz, I'm looking for one watch as an everyday wearer. Would you recommend a Rolex Submariner Date (126610) from a AD for half the price or would you save and get the Vacheron Overseas 4500V with the blue dial? I know that they're not on the same level (horologically or finishing) but they are the two watches I'm interested in at the moment. Is the Vacheron double the watch of a Submariner? I like that both watches have quick adjustment which is a must have feature as an everyday watch? Thoughts?
What a perfection of watch
(It’s art) I clearly understand why VC is part of the holiday trinity
It’s absolutely spectacular in person. They’re special indeed.
Yeah, the date font should have matched the nicer font on the minute track.
Great video! What’s your thoughts on the 7900 Dual Time?
Great review! The fit of the bracelet is amazing! I might get one someday. But I'd get the Dual Time model instead to avoid that hideous date wheel. It's amazing how many high horology brands ruin perfect pieces with cheap looking date wheels. There is simply no excuse for this laziness from these high end brands. Grand Seiko does a much better job on date wheels on $5,000 watches.
After watching this vdo my next grain watch is definite VC 4500 in blue dial
This watch is really super. Very, very nice.
Fantastic camera work. Beautiful watch.
Many thanks for watching and the feedback. Pls do checkout my latest videos too :)
@Hafiz. Excellent watch and an excellent video to boot. One Question....Can this watch be worn on a 16cm wrist(50mm wrist span)
I think you can. I have 18cm and it fits Perfect. Go to a AD and try ist out. Greetings from germany
@@wolper2155 Thank you! Yes the issue is always getting the one you want in the store. Or they wont let you try it since they have it in the back and wont bring it out!
Hi. Yes 50mm wrist span means you can easily wear it. Royal Oak 41mm or 39mm unfortunately will stick out of your wrist because their minimum span is 54mm but 4500V should be fine 👌
@@HafizJMehmood Thank you!
Great review! Do you know if later versions of this watch have improved on those imperfections like the date numerals?
Thanks. This is the latest version as in this video.
Hey Hafiz, since it took you what looks like a whole day ( date changed from 23-24...) to make this video, l’ll make it a point to look at it up close, at the VC Boutique in NYC sometime in the next few weeks, since I’m currently “VC-less”. I prefer the 2nd gen. Arabic numbered dial and do miss the outside big date display, BUT the interchangeable bracelet and straps option seems hard to be overlooked though...
You’re spot on. I mostly spend a full weekend shooting clips and putting it all together :)
VC are beautiful indeed. Gen 2 are far good value for money as they’re not hyped. Gen 3 is also as yet not hyped too much, but I’m not too sure if the price difference between gen 2 and gen 3 leaves it justified. Quick strap change is a very tempting option indeed.
I’m probably in the same boat as you my friend 😅
I love this watch also.... Ok so the £17k question please: this VC oversea in blue dial or AP 15450 silver dial ? Just can’t make up my mind...I don’t want to look like a footballer but at the same time if shelling out 17g I want the watch to look it’s worth...
These are the exact two that I cannot decide between. I really want to go with the VC but the lack of hacking seconds is almost a deal breaker for me.
That’s a million dollar question. I will put VC oversea side by side with Royal Oak shortly - so stay tuned for a very detailed comparison.
But for your question, you said 15450; which is 37mm Royal Oak. The 4500V wears much larger as it’s still a 41mm watch and the case span with bracket is around 58mm, so it maybe a deal breaker for you only due to its size. If you compare it with 15500/15400 then it will change because both wear the same.
AP silver dial is very, very special; you have to see it to realise how stunning it is.
VC has a few shortcomings that kinda break the deal for me.
1. Lack of hacking seconds hand. That’s a shame but it’s there.
2. Crystal reflections are distracting to an inconvenient level.
3. It’s far too dressy to be called a sports watch (in general).
4. Date; as I said. It’s really very off looking.
desertfox yes same here been going forth and back for last two years...
Hafiz J Mehmood first up I love your reviews on watches. Keep up the good work!! Yes I did see your review on the 15500 and 15450 and I myself tried both of them on. I prefer the smaller 15450 as it’s not as in your face as the other one. I already have a Patek 5296 as a dress watch and a sub and explorer as my everyday beater watches. So I am looking for a dressy sport watch. A dressy sport watch that goes well with a Sunday lunch attire if you get what I mean. I love the 15450 as it’s more restrained for me and same with the VC. If you were attending Henley royal regatta which of these two would you wear? Many thank !!
Nobody goes for VC so these make an excellent used bargain.
Very true. In current market; they’re the best bang for the buck.
Agree. However, the bargains start to disappear.
If you can find any.
@@watcheswhisky948 what about That Grey deepstream pls?
Hi, great review. Are you sure your wrist is 6.5 inches? The watch looks great on your wrist and doesn’t look big at all.
Hi. Thanks for watching. My wrist size if definitely 6.5”. Please do check my community posts here on my channel and I’ll share the photo of my wrist with measurement as I’ve been asked a few times :)
4500V wears smaller than Royal Oak as the lugs stick downwards and don’t go outward as much as they go on RO.
Thanks again. It’s a lovely watch indeed.
Best sport watch ❤️
Indeed is. It’s a little more dressier looking though, compared to Royal Oak or Nautilus IMO.
Many thanks for watching.
Very nice video. Great work. Superb review
vincent nepomuceno thanks so much. Keep the support coming :D
Is this VC in blue dial easy to get ? Or will there be a waitlist ?
What a Beautiful Timepiece
Great Video
for sure a iconic piece. You cannot buy it now unless you are in a list now. i was lucky
I actually can't hear you from the music
Can you do the Cartier santos medium ?
Yeah the date is the only thing that throws me away from this. It should have better detail. It is smudged.
Great review!
The worst part of the overseas is the dial and the reflective sapphire. For the price and the competitive market, they could stay in the game if they fix those two things.
I heard what Chopard is going to release in their new Alpine Eagle, changing their movement. I think I'll lean towards that one. The Alpine Eagle dial is something quite amazing!
Yeah and the Chopard will have zero aftermarket value
The black dial is lacquer as well, right?
That’s right. Black has similar lacquer finish as this blue 👍
Outstanding review Hafiz - May I please ask you: how does the VC Overseas Gen 3 movement feel to wind and set time? On a scale of 1-10. 1 being a SEIKO automatic grindy presage movement and 10 being the glorious ALS ZEITWERK. I love the VCOS but in these stay-at-home times it’s difficult to have the opportunity to handle the watch in person before purchasing. Many thanks in advance 🙏🏻
good,good
Wonderful review. 🙂
Amazing watch, but I cannot unsee the date.
Bow down to the true!
Design wiseNowhere near AP and hublot... looks like a fancy updated iwc ingenieur
Cool man.
The VC makes my Explorer 1 looks ordinary.
The white background on the date window is for legibility purposes. You claiming the date dial being white is less than impressive is just your personal opinion. So don't make claims without having the facts ok
👍👍👍👍👍
