    Eve, thank you so much for taking the time to thoroughly swatch these paints. It is really helpful to have such close up shots of all the colors.

    I was debating buying a couple of these paints on etsy, but was not sure which ones I would like best, so I greatly appreciate you swatching all of these out and sharing. I felt the color charts they had did not show me everything I wanted to see, especially regarding how strong the color is heavily applied vs diluted with more water, and how much they granulate (or even marking which ones did, which tend to be my favorite). It looks like the Mars colors, Cobalts, Potters Pink and Manganese Violet are nice and granulating. Sometimes a brand has a color you think will granulate based on the pigment used, but then ends up not being as textural. I notice that a lot with ultramarines, especially with Daniel Smith vs Schmincke. It looks like there was a bit of shiny residue from these Renesans paint's binder though, uncertain how I feel about that at around 16:23 on that Potters Pink. I look forward to seeing what else you discover as you play with these :)

    I LOVE the Brown Madder! Very useful in mixes. It can nearly substitute for burnt sienna, with a much deeper mass tone, as needed. Gotta love it!

    Thank you, Eve! I am a Renesans fan and I use both the half pans and tubes. I love each formula, as for the intention in a work. I needed this video, as I will shop them again and again! Blessings!!!

    it takes those paints a few weeks to get somewhat firm, like I had a few pans that had about 3 days of drying and still spilled when I stored them upside down 😂 I love those paints it's my favorite brand!

    You and MoW have been making me want a set of these paints but unfortunately the global distributors on etsy only ship to america and aus :(
    So.. I'll just watch this video and fawn over them instead.

    My potter’s pink from Oto Kano also has that dry putty consistency! Maybe she has some insight?

    Hi! What a strange, slowly- sneaking liquid it is :) Your Potter’s Pink swatch looks very shiny. Too much gum arabic? My experience with other Renesans watercolours has been that they’re very matte, in a very nice way.

    • @KimberlyCrick
      @KimberlyCrick Před 5 lety +2

      I just noticed that too. As I looked closely there were a few paints across multiple swatch cards that had that shiny reflection... I am not sure if her batch just had an unusual amount of gum arabic or not, but I'm hesitant to try them because of all the shine. Did you try the tubes or pans that were all nice and matte?

    • @SPQRKlio
      @SPQRKlio Před 5 lety

      Kimberly Crick In my set (24 pans and 4 tubes), only the Potter’s Pink has any shine. The tubes I have are Indian Yellow, Red Ochre, Chromium Oxide, and the Potter’s Pink.

    I found online that these are not as lightfast as the manufacturer claims. Is that true?

    • @EveBolt
      @EveBolt  Před 5 lety +1

      I haven't tested these for lightfastness, but seeing the pigment lineup, there's nothing to indicate that these would be less lightfast than other professional brands.

    You have some very nice compliments so I'm a little bit unsure if I should pen a negative post. But, here goes.
    It's not about the paints.
    When showing the side by side comparison, you went a little too fast for the eye to follow, especially when the swatch colors didn't match side by side.
    However, thank you for sharing

      Feedback is always welcome! I'm sorry I moved on from the image too fast, I'll try to keep that in mind for future videos :)
