WHO KNEW that the world's most expensive city for expats and tourists is Luanda, Angola?!
That's right -- it's not New York or London or Singapore or Dubai.... Not even close. It's Luanda Angola --, and if you don't believe me, you can ask BBC News, CNN and The Guardian.
I am not kidding you that I just saw a 13'' Macbook Pro listed at $4,200 at an electronics store Luanda -- I just bought the exact same computer in Arizona for less than half that price!
After spending the last 3 days in Luanda,, I've been surprised in many ways... but none more than the outrageous prices. You can learn all about it in this video.
Just curious -- Did anyone about this before watching this video? Or is this totally news to you?

Although I respect Drew's opinion in the video, it's important to note that this information is geared towards those who live in high-cost urban areas. There are less expensive options available. I understand that Angola may seem like an expensive country, but if you travel inland, it can be truly amazing. There's so much to discover and explore, and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Hello Drew! My parents are Angolan so we flew there for the first time last summer. Even though it is a little bit of poverty, Angola is a beatiful country and the people there are so kind and respectful. Just a little quick thing in 2:54 you see you popcorn looking things and let me tell you this. Those are so good

Still, I love my country 🇦🇴🇦🇴🇦🇴💪🏾💪🏾
I love Angola too, proud Angolan in Malaysia
Midê Rafael é essa assim mesmo meu wi, WE LOVE ANGOLA
I was surprised to find that prices in Angola are higher than in Norway.
And what about salaries? One has to earn 6-7k $/month at least to live normally with such prices
You love your corrupt government?
Hello from Luanda! 😁
Well yeah the prices are crazy but idk i still prefer living here than in Europe (using it as an example bc i went to some countries) bc of the humanity you see in the majority. The kindness to help strangers and be polite. And the elders are truly respected cause they are our source of wisdom and the center of the family.
The money fact can be a struggle but theres always a little business you can do or a family member to help you out
I love my country, with his ups and downs... it will get better :)

2:37 he identify the problem with most African nations. The problem is that not that they can't produce, it is that when one black African tries to produce, the others pull him down. This is a huge problem unlike in western countries where everyone sees that as a development for all and generations to come.
Nah, it’s because African countries are the most corrupt and their leaders take total control over their rich resources and exploit them to the maximum. That’s why African nations can’t produce, it has nothing to do with others pulling them down. If Africa’s natural resources were more privatized like the west it would be in much better shape, as you're most likely to be lied by a politician than a businessmen. That’s economics for ya.

[3:20] Here in the Netherlands we also import Tv`s and Mac-books, and is normally priced...419

Ayye finally my parents' country featured in this channel!
Angola has a nice weather, but it's a very expensive place...the price diference is absurd compared to Portugal( were I was born and currently living)
Ur also Angolan…
I was looking at the exchange rate after this video was uploaded and in December 2019 it seems that the conversion from Kwanza to United States Dollars it has reduced.
Now the TV doesn't cost 10000$ the equivalent is 6400$.
Still a lot of money.
As someone who is currently living in Angola the prices have changed a lot it is still expensive but wayyy cheaper than what you’re mentioning on video 1000KZ is about 1€ and Yangos the Ubers here are 1-3€ tops for a 2-3 hour ride me and my family only had to pay 5€ but apartments/houses and good restaurants are sure veryyyy expensive
Good to know, because I want to visit Angola without having rethink my existence.

Very eye-opening. Did not know it was so expensive.

Remember the video where he said I don't complain about the price of anything
I feel sometimes Oil is a curse..In my Town a Big Govt owned Oil company is running for 3 decades.. Initially everything was normal but then came pay revision in 1998. Suddenly some people started earning much more that they have no idea how to spend..many things in our town became costlier than neighbouring towns.. pay revision came for other workers of Central & state departments in 2006.Since then again things are running smoothly.
I live there and we wonder why everything is so cheap abroad. Even earlier today we were talking about how the price of videogames here is literally 3x the price in the U.S, most people just buy stuff from other countries, computers, game consoles TVs are way too expansive to buy here

Ok I’m gonna predict the city before watching. Lumpala, Angola
*EDIT:* Watched the vid and I got it right but I Spelled it wrong, it’s Luanda
I live here in Angola, In Luanda indeed this city is highly corrupt making the black market rates more common to be used than the official rate. Making a dollar about 400 kz that’s what made the prices high.
So happy you came to the country I am a expad working for a oil company in Angola.
