Laura is such an emotional singer. It is a specific mood. And excellent. Another fabulous, emotional singer who ended up in Canada from somewhere else is Faouzia. Just about anything from her is interesting. She sings mostly in English, but one or two in Arabic or French. For something happy, look for “I, Fly” stripped. Written by Galantis, Faouzia was featured. For something dramatic, “Born Without a Heart” (Stripped) has an interesting musical arrangement and typical singing from this Moroccan born songwriter.

Strong, nuanced, technical voice that somehow fails to move me on an emotional level. The delivery seems too studied, a coldly perfect kata of breath and small motions that provides a bit of tension in what you feel she is holding back, moreso than what she is actually giving you. I'm intellectually, not emotionally, intrigued.
