Thanks for the review. I have bought this and will be paring it with my GoPro Hero 4. I have watched a good few reviews and yours was the only one to really discuss the base attachments and also the app. Great to see it auto rotates for time lapses if you want it to. I will be using this feature for sure.

This is by far the best review for a gimbal suited for a Go Pro. I’ve been torn between the EVO GP-Pro and the Feiyu Tech G5. I’ve seen multiple reviews and most of them suggest EVO. What I like about Feiyu is the size, rubber grip, spash resistant, performance (based on your videos). One thing however I wish you included in your review was the battery life and the ability to plug my Hero 7 Black in while recording. Go Pro batteries suck and having a gimbal with an eight hour battery life, with the addition of being able to charge your camera at the same time is HUGE! Thank you for your review.

one question, when you put "wind only audio in protune", have you configured only wind only? or have you placed in Protune? and if it was protune, what option have you put, low, medium or hight?
Great review! I have this gimbal. I place my Hero 5 in the mount backwards/upside down so the mode/power button is actually to the outside and accessible. I shot quite a bit of footage in Colorado and it worked great. Enjoy your reviews!

I too have owned this gimbal for awhile and mount it upside down without problems using the Hero5.
But you lost the function to charge your gopro, I think...
You do lose that option by placing it in backwards. One has to decide what they want to do more, charge or have access to the function button. Either way you won't have access to something.
What I've done is placed my Hero5 a fingers width from the velvet lining. I can just insert the finger and use the power/mode button. I can now use the gimbal like it's meant to be and have access to all the buttons without losing any functionality.
Air Photography, Could you please explain what those buttons on grip are for? Are they totally substitute GoPro camera's mode buttons? I mean are those buttons on grip are starting/stop recording and changing camera's mode? I just got confused, as I saw people's comments that they put their hero5/6 upside down to reach buttons of mode on their GoPro

I’ve had the G5 along with the Hero 7 white for the last two years. As a consequence, I need access to the mode button. That means that I have to completely unscrew the clamp. It’s a real fiddle at home when accessing the memory card, charging port of the GoPro. As such it’s lost a lot of love from me.
From what I’ve seen, the newer G6 hasn’t solved this. It would be far more preferable if they figured out a quick release clamp that worked not only with GoPro mounts, but those of other brands.
I’m thinking my next camera will end up being the Osmo Pocket 2.

When your camera is in the gimbal, You should be able to change your settings. Via the GoPro App on your smartphone.

KhangYou Leong V2 of the G5, has foam where the camera tounches the gimbal to minimize the motor noise.

Maybe they were confused, some refer to it as just an updated version. As for which one is best for you it basically all depends on how he will be using it the most. Both can be used as a handheld unit or wearable unit but the Wg2 excels at wearable mounting Where is the G5 is better for handheld. So basically just decide how you will be using at the most and that will probably be your best option

How much does the GoPro Hero6 EIS help in making the footage smooth when paired with a gimble? I have a Zhiyun Smooth Q and a Hero5 but there is still some vibration in my footage, even if i turn EIS on. Can you please make a comparison with and without EIS when using the gimble?

How long did the battery actually last?
Is the Feiyu Tech G5 soft case large enough to allow the Feiyu Tech G5 PLUS the attached GoPro HERO6 to BOTH go inside the soft Feiyu Tech G5 case at the same time (while attached)?
My Hero 5 does fit attached to the gimbal in the included neoprene case, though it is snug.

I don’t think Motor noises bad at all on this model. You can watch the samples to see for yourself. I’ll gimbals have slight noise there’s no really way around it. But the audio is quite Usable
Hmm i wonder if there is a way to mount it on the seeker?.. maybe the Karma mounting ring would fit on it?
+Crypto is Key There is a quarter inch thread tripod mount on the side of the unit. All you would need is one of those threaded go pro mount adapters I think they are a couple bucks and it would mount just like the karma grip

Unfortunately, no, it is not powerful enough or designed for that
Is it better to use the gimbal in 4K 30fps with stabilization on or just in 4K 60fps?
These gimbals only stabilize pitch, roll and yaw. They cannot correct for sliding left, right, up and down movement, such as one would make happen during walking. The EIS of the camera can correct for those at least some.
Can you have the gimbal in the case with the GoPro on it? I like that the gimbal is slim. Also the selfie mode is great. Thanks for the review. Always enjoy your videos. :)

Most monopod with the standard 1/4-20 stud will work. The Feiyu monopod is actually pretty nice and a perfect match to the look and feel of this gimbal. Solid, light, and not too expensive.
Could you review the Evo Gimbal? Higher build quality and American made.

Is it possible to charge the gimbal while using it via the USB on the handle, also if you had a USB going to to the side of the GoPro does it knock it off level. I am thinking it would be great to take the GoPro side door off and be able to plug a right angle USB c cable to the GoPro and have a small power bank keeping the GoPro or even the gimbal charged. Nothing like running out of battery while out doing stuff. Also does the gimbal fit in the bag case with the GoPro in it. I think it would be awesome to travel with it on there and be able to pop it out and film super quickly. Great video!
cody heiser, yes you can charge the gimbal with a powerbank. You can also charge the gopro via the gimbal. There is a charging Port in the gimbal Frame.
The gimbal fits with the gopro in the Feiyutech bag. But it‘s a little bit tight for the first tries.
Raphaelmusic1 oh wow I didn't know you could charge the GoPro from the gimbal. I remember seeing a plug but saw no one talks about it so I figured it was one of those unless remnants of gimbals past. You've pretty much solidified I need to buy this gimbal. I also read that it is splashproof so I can be comfortable in the rain and around water. I wonder just how splashproof it is. I know at expos they show it off in a box with a sprinkler showing it. Awesome thanks for the reply I am pretty set I need this gimbal. Wish there was a way to run a session on it. That be even better to make use of all my cameras but the square is hard to work with for gimbals.
cody heiser i‘ve seen that it’s possible to attach a Session on the Feiyutech G5. May you need another attachment.
I‘d forgot to tell you, that if The gimbal don’t Start to charge your gopro or Starts to Go in all directions, than the cable that came with your g5, might don’t work correctly. Feiyutech Support sent me 3 new cables and now my Hero 6 works perfect.
sorry i should have covered that in the video. it is a very useful feature and works well. my video was already getting to long lol. the other thing i forgot to mention is the fact that it is splash and water resistant (not water proof) so that is really cool as well.
SOMEBODY PLEASE READ AND HELP: Does this really not come with a wrist strap? I really prefer having a wrist strap in case of dropping or so that someone doesn't try to swipe it from my hands when I am in a foreign country. Any suggestions?
You can purchase a wrist strap For a few dollars on Amazon. They have a quarter inch tripod thread attach that screw into the bottom of the handle

With the GoPro 6 Black, turn the camera 180 degrees so the lens is next to the motor. The GoPro 6 will work beautifully upside down.

No this is more designed for action cameras you would be best to use a smart phone gimbals such as the smooth Q, vimbal C or the DJI Osmo Mobile

Hi sorry if I'm writing back. Today an Amazon seller wrote me back about compatibility between Hero6 an FeiyuTech G5 V.2. He took some days to answer. But the point is that he say (very gently) that FeiyuTech G5 V.2, at the moment, can't charge the Hero 6 with the cable. He said also that is a problem that will be solve. I just want to buy it but You say that is working, the reseller that is not yet working...who is right? Tanks

When I plugged it in and powered on the unit the charging light on the hero 6 came on So I assume that means it’s charging… I will play with it again today to see if the battery percentage will go up. Maybe he’s referring to when the unit is powered off? Because then yes it does not charge. I’ll get back to you later on

Andrea Turbolz i had also problems with the cable on the Hero 6. The gimbal totally freaked out. The Feiyutech Support sent me 3 new cables and now it’s working fine.

Spare batteries are almost impossible to get
I also use 18650 batteries with this gimbal, which are super common. I recommend going to the vapor strores. They usually have many different physical sizes, mAh ratings, quality, button top, flat top, etc., and you can try it right there in the store before you buy. If you cant figure out the sleeve you need (to go from 18650 to 22650 diameter), I ended up using one out of those $10 flashlights you buy on Amazon that brings an 18650 battery and the sleeve. The fitment is absolutely perfect, and the flashlight is actually pretty good.

Yes it is compatible. This go pro is the same weight as the hero 5/6 approximately. So yes you will use the counterweight :)
