  • The OTO STRALES is a very cost effective solution
which keeps any advantage related to gun technology
and boosts performance by increasing system
accuracy to missiles level. Conceived as an add-on
kit that can be integrated into the already in service
OTO 76/62 gun mounts, OTO STRALES includes a
Radio Frequency Guidance System provided with a
mechanical frame to be connected to the gun-mount
    structure

Note how at 1:08 the operator says "15,000 meters to useful range".
This confirms that the effective range of the Strales+Dart is 15km, not 5km.

Nope, it means they need to close an additional 15km to bring the target in range. The range varies depending on the round being used and the type of target.

In Italy🇮🇹 the range of a ranged weapon(Arrow, Gun etc) is measured in:
      🟥Maximum range(Gittata massima) = it's the maximum distance the arrow/bullet can reach
🟥Useful/effective range(Gittata utile/effettiva) = It's the distance from where the arrow/projectile becomes useful, capable of hitting the target.
In this video we talk about the 76mm Strales/Davide with DART ammunition, which will have a maximum range of 20km(I assume like the old SAPOMER anti-missile/anti-air/anti-ship ammunition of the 76mm, father of the Dart) and an effective range of 15km.
🟥Obviously it's easier to hit a target from, for example, 11km than from 15km.
Also the 76mm Strales + Dart is the best CIWS system in the world(can replace defensive VLS for short range missiles)

It all depends on the targeting system what this gun can do in real combat.

A few days ago the david/strales system shot down an houthi drone at 7 KM distance using 3 or 6 shots

CIWS over at all the CIWS systems. It can even take down ships with a few shots below the waist, tanks and artillery on land, intercepts the bolts of ZEUS

Not Zeus lighting bolt, lighting on earth travels at 270,000 mph. That approx 30 to 35× faster than the reentry speed of a fast ICBM warhead. 😊 Capiche

Yeah, thats the main point of higher caliber ciws like Millenium Gun, updated dardo fast forty and progamable ammunition, to give a fighting chance to shoot down hypersonic anti ship missiles even if fire rate is reduced, lethality is still increased by these technologies. Laser technology just isn't ready for the job yet and layered defence is essential, multiple types of anti air and anti ballistic missile, then RAM technology, and Ciws. True, hypersonic missiles might have made phalanx, goalkeeper obsolete but actually makes ciws more relevant, ships have reduced their numbers of gun Ciws due to thinking it redundant but now as hypersonic missiles have better chances of penetrating those defences, a serious number of weapons of last resort becomes important. I think we will see more destroyers with larger secondary arments of 76mm, then perhaps 4 gun ciws of 35-40mm, a couple of ram launchers on destroyers and even more large 'frigates' will standardsise on a 76mm main armament rather than 127mm guns because the anti missile potential of thise is more important than gun size

No. You need to shoot down hypersonics in long range for reaction time and kinetic energy of the missiles sparks.
With a mid caliber gun you don't have this long range and no reaction time. And if you are lucky and hit the missile, hypersonic sparks will hit you.
