Oi, Bung! Most of time the O in the end of a word is pronounced like U, there are some regional differences. Banana is pronounced like "banana" or "bĂŁnĂŁna", in fact, the last one is more common.
I don't know much how the vowels are pronounced in Portugal, but the Brazilian "i" would be more like "be", "see" or "heat". Examples in Brazilian Portuguese: Igreja, Ilha, aquI.

Is the oral vowel that's exclusive to Portugal the same as the i in bit? btw the nasal e sounds more like pain than spend to me
