I love swain and he's been one of my mains for quite a long time. I started playing him when he still had to stack 5 soul fragments to get a worthwhile ultimate. One thing that I'd recommend for beginners to the champ when you're still learning him is to actually max your E second if you're not confident in hitting W.
Considering that W is pretty hard to hit and takes a bit of time to learn the finite tips and tricks around it as well as get the mechanics down then you're probably better off maxing E second as you'll more reliably hit it than your W when first learning the champ. It may be a little less efficient but its not worth maxing W second if you can't actually hit enemy champs with it. Once you're confident with your W then go ahead and max it second as the video recommends.
Well, W is generally hard to hit and only reliable when you hit your E. Makes no sense to max E second if you only ever hit W after E anyways

Appreciate the comment! I would recommend trying the new update, even though it's mostly the same, there's a few champs who have come back into the meta.

The w also works REALLY well as a small sneaky split push. It can give your minions the advantage when the enemy team is all the way across the map. I like to use it for that when im doing something like dragon or baron. No one thinks mid lane is getting pushed from bot lane, super fun

i main swain mid and its amezing how fun games can get
only issue i have is grasp isnt listed by far the most fun runes especially top you get really tanky with grasp passive and overgrowth. and you can get bone plaiting
I've found the biggest threat to Swain is the enemy adc + anyone else. The adc seams to put out enough dmg to cut Swain down regardless of what you land. Their teammate will add just enough so you can't kill the adc, either cc on you or defense for the adc. Swain craps on bruisers and mages assuming they aren't fed of course. Anyone have tips for 1v2s vs adcs outside of lane?
i love swain, for me is the funniest champ to play in game, but bro...compared to other meta picks he is sooo weak, specially at master+
Unfortunately, Riot heavily nerfed Swain by citing the fact that with the Q he takes more enemies and therefore more souls BUT since these no longer work as before during the Supreme to say that BEFORE the patch "he needed the team and now NO" is stupid colossal! As you can see in the video, during the Supreme it does not increase in life using the souls accumulated at the transformation (as post patch) or by the minions or champions inside the demonic area (before the leach was seen now it is practically minimal). In short, at the end of the day, as in the last patch 12.10 Riot is making mistakes after mistakes, trying to patch up where the game loses. We will see where we end up.
Idk if conq. is a good rune on swain, it seems like very hard to stack + doesn't heal anything, basically revitalize heals 3 times more than a keystone ! that's just mad to think of. phase rush also doesn't seem to be the best of all time but I think its more usefull for its gap closing or escaping, but again, u don't know if u need ghost then. very confusing champion, very unclear on how to choose the best spell or keystone for him, I still die under tower even at lvl 6 when playing him, this never used to be the case before the first rework, now he's just a bitch waiting to die and I think without a stopwatch u can do nothing + his dmg is so low and u don't know what u should build for him, Idk I'm still lost but thanks for the video.
