- In this lesson, we will discuss machine learning and neural networks. We will learn about the overall topic of artificial intelligence (AI), with machine learning (ML) being a subset of AI. Neural networks are then a subset of machine learning. Neural networks are a technique where a computer network performs a task without human intervention and trains and improves over time. Applications are in artificial general intelligence, finance, speech recognition, image recognition, self driving cars, and more. We will discuss the networks weights and biases and learn how a real neural network operates and how it is trained.

I am a seventy five year old retired lawyer. I congratulate you on your excellent teaching methodologies.
I have improved my knowledge regarding the Periodic Table and now nn or ml learning. Thank you sir.
After reading your post, an old, favorite quote came to mind:
"What we become depends on what we read after all of the professors have finished with us. The greatest university of all is a collection of books.". Thomas Carlyle
OMG its you when i first start study electronic engineer at univercity at 2017 i was struggle understanding on circuit analysis course becasee the professor went too fast he didnt recall about any principle knwledge so i search on internet and found your course i learn 2 or 3 course from you and now 2024 i'm about to change my career and its you again thank you so much for everything sir you are one of my great teacher i respect you from all my hearth
Really cool that you’re doing this videos Jason, in this format. I have done at least 100+ hours of math at your website, and you were the one influence that made me realise that I was “smart” enough to study CS and Math.
This means a lot to me! Happy for your success!
Your explanation is good sir, nailed it easy and simple lots of love from india, my youtube math and science teacher, thanks a lot sir, you dont know sir, how much you are helping students
Thanks and welcome! I appreciate it!
😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Back a few years ago when I took a 5 five plan on your website I knew you were the best tutor out there. The particular attention you give to me (us) is more valuable to me than a college class. Thank you Jason for all your hard work and all the lives you are impacting. I hope you get more subscribers and continue making more videos.

Finally, I've got an intuitive idea about this topic. Thanks for this. More videos please.
the first time i subscribed to your channel after listening to you, i developed a new hobby to study even more. You make the complexities assiciated with learning very simple .You are a great teacher
Only who understand well can make it simple and easy to grasp.
Good teacher is a talent, hard work, dedicated to your job and having the will to give your best, I think you enjoy teaching too.
it is a great achievement to make people like science and you did it.
Thanks a lot!
One of the Best explanation of neural network ever watch. It's clear and simple! Thank You Very Much!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for the nice feedback!
Thanks so much for this clarification, please we need more of these...NN, ML and DL
Thank you!
man i been searching for this video all day thanks
im a senior citizen and this guy did better than a lot of other "smart" people in youtube
As usual, the best explanation from Jason.
Actually I’ve been waiting for you having a course on ML and DL long time ago.
Kudos for you Jason, you’re more than amazing!!!
As a cell biologist I am happy that finally somebody made the basic principles of deep learning very clear! This is exactly what a very interested non-AI specialist should know. By the way you do that for ALL your contributions. EXCELLENT and thank you!
Dude, your explanations and way of teaching are really incredible! The pace, the simplicity... 100% on point, I'm also glad that you went back to describe the math basics as they were needed. Thank you man!
Brilliant Teacher.. Such a complex subject made easy to understand.
I definitely want to see more, in particular how it relates to tensor flow, Karas, etc. GREAT JOB Jason.
Finally, a quick and simple overview to explain the basis of neural network for a computer geek. Thank you!
I watched hundreds of videos to understand the topic, they all started from an advanced point that's only understandable by professionals. You sir explained the basics very good that a non professional like me (I'm a radiologist) could figure out the basic idea. Thanks so much 👍
You are a real teacher. Always following keep it up
Thank you very much, Jason. I am following your lessons since you started. You are the best!
Your presentation on this subject is truly exceptional. I was particularly impressed by how you incorporated visuals like pictures of cars, trees, and stop signs to deepen our understanding of the topic. Your passion and dedication to teaching shine through brilliantly
I liked the way you present this presentation, it encourages people to learn something that might appear to be difficult. Good job !!!
I would love to see more videos about this topic done by you. You make the poison sweet by your sincere and unique way of presenting it. The key word is math. It’s the ambit that makes everything looks nice.
Excellent teaching and explanation on basic machine leaning concepts and terminology.
You are the best instructor then Harvard, Columbia, either other top colleagues…thanks for outstanding presentation and teaching style…thanks so much as always…
Finally, the master has touched on machine learning!!!
If there is "Gunness Record " for teaching , then that should have been given to you by now. Great work ...thank you
By far the best intro I a have seen! Thanks a lot!
This is the best and simplest explanation of above terms.
Excellent and well-thought-out presentation. Your encapsulations and examples of the basic concepts of a neural network were very helpful to me.
Very nice intro, thank you. As a theoretical physicist trained in quantum mechanics (aka Hilbert spaces) it was easy to follow. And I know how difficult it is to develop such lectures, with the interested but not very experienced student in mind, so thank you again and congratulations!
This is a nice lesson. I was a volunteer for the Galileo Project and helped identify aircraft for their machine learning to Identify UAPs. I think I classified almost 3,000 images and about 20 other people did also so it takes a good bit of data input to teach AI something :)
Very cool!
You're someone I trust for honest information on the subject. You don't need the flashy background since we come here to listen to your lecture.
I appreciate that
I bought the whole collection of Jason's DVDs when my kids were smaller -- and it certainly helped them. Even now I yell at them to review the right video when they appear confused about University topics.
Awesome. Thank you and tell the kids hi from me!
This was an excellent video. Thanks for explaining this subject in simple terms.
Pls continue i want to learn machine learning in depth with you !! thanks for the things that you did teacher ...
really appreciate your lecture here, you're a great teacher
Very very nice video....No words can describe your explanation...
Thank you so much 😀
thats a priceless masterpiece
this guy is the only legend fr
Awww thanks so much!
Fantastic overview - thank you!
Oh wow, Jason killed it. This is the best explanation of Neura Network iv seen. Yiu made it understandable for any dummy. Pls do more of this on AI/ML concepts. You are just the best.
Excellent! You really have the talent to explain a complex topic in an understandable way. Great job!.
Thank you! Your lecture is very helpful for my understanding.
Excellent teaching technic and presentation of substance, Bravo!!
Sir I'm a teenager and I'm from Pakistan 🇵🇰 and I'm poor and I have no access to higher school and colleges so continue your work especially about the new discovery AI and MACHINE LEARNING and Quantum computing I will be so thankful to you for this act of kindness
This is a great introductory video in the AI area. Apart from physics, math, chemistry, bio, electrical engineering, etc. I never thought you could do a great video in this areas, i.e. AI, machine learning, reasoning. You are an exceptional educator.
Glad you enjoyed it!
A great intro! Very well presented! for some 15 years ago, I took my first stab at AI, in the form of a genetic algorithm, and some time later I did my first neural network. I wish I've had this tutorial under my belt before starting on those projects, it for sure had made it much easier!
Thanks so much! Appreciate it!
Many thanks for your time and great explanation !
Excellent summary of the essentials!
Very well organized and presented.
Thank you very much.
You're very welcome! Thanks so much.
Awesome explanation. Look forward to more sessions on this complex subject. Appreciate your classes.
Thanks so much!
You deserve a great appretiation for your solid passion in teaching..
Wow, that was very good. Thanks. Please make more videos on this topic.
Thank you Jason.
Love it ♡ Thanks a lot for the lecture!
Thank you so much sir !
This is one of the greatest lectures about NNs. I thought I have a good idea about NNs, but this lecture really opened my eyes about what is really under the fancy term "Neural Networks". Again, thank you so much.
Hope there will be following parts to this lecture.
You are most welcome
The algorithm of YT somehow led me here, based on related videos, which ultimately stemmed from one of the many AI alignment concern videos. It kind of feels like figuring out the degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon, lol! But after watching this video, I am sitting here thinking about how I ended up landing here, based from the inputs times the weights, and adding a bias, from my previous viewings. However it worked, I am thankful for it! You are one of the very few creators that completely grabbed and held onto my attention AND interest. You explained things in a logical progression, with adding layers of context, to get a much deeper level of understanding, with just enough of the side reminders on how the math was calculated. I subscribed and look forward to learning more!
And to add to my comment - The last (and most enjoyable) mathematics class I ever took in college, was Finite Math(I think that was the name), and that was when I was introduced to matrix multiplication, etc. I have never had a need to recall how to use it in real life since then, until now. To give you an idea of how long ago that was - I was sitting in that class when I lived in NY, and 9-11 happened. We were all sent home after that class. But, of all the math courses I ever took, I truly enjoyed that one. So with you bringing that up in your teaching, it really helped me to start having a better grasp on it all. Thank you!
Clearer intro. Thanks.
You took me from the level of concepts...to appreciating the relationships among the concepts.
I got one relevance of matrices. It looks like an intelligence knew mankind would need matrices one day, to develop AI. Awesome!
Glad it was helpful!
Please make a second one, your lesson is the most easy to understand.
Incredible teacher! ❤
Back to HS math for Ai/ML f(x). Very well explanation. Thank you!
Extremely helpful video!
Man, Sir, you deserve a deep respect for this presentation. You have nailed it to the most important aspects and in manner that people can not only understand it but also be able to make experimental setups in the Matlab. I am writing this because I read about it and listen about it , watched other NN CZcams presentations even tried myself , and I understood the NN to some degree before. However, this is the first video , after I have no questions about it. Does not mean I understand all, it just left me to understand enough to be on my own. Thanks so much.
Awesome to hear this.
👍
Great video. Thank you.
No words to say...what a mind blowing explanation...cant stop listening..Tqvm sir❤
Concise, well presented explanation. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Simply exceptional!
You are an amazing teacher sir!
Simply put, you are a remarkable teacher. At long last I became intelligent !!
You did an Amazing job Sir! - Thank you
This is the best video I’ve watched on the explanation on how AI works. It’s the perfect balance of the high level solution and maths for a non-maths person, like myself. I highly recommend investing the time in this video.
Really appreciated this introduction to AI and NN. Are you planing to do more lectures about AI, ML, DL and NN? It would be fantastic!
This will be my go-to video for making an Machine learning based game. I would like to see your take on the backpropagation or error function.
You were very very very great! Thank you! I learned a lot these things for the very first time.
I could easily say this was the best explanation of any concept I've watched on youtube. The emphasis on explaining the building blocks of a hugely misconceived topic such as ML is amazing... Well executed 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks a ton Jason
Assimilated; thanks. Hoping for a sequel or two; I actually already knew this much; what I haven't found yet is clear explanations of what transformers are, and what's _attention,_ as in *_Attention is All You Need._*
This is a a 💎 in a rough of videos on the subject. Hope you still read comments! Please add ML and DL, NN And deep dive into Transformer math to your course work. Would gladly pay.
I appreciate Very Much! that you start with the WHY! what this is the purpose for this! Many presentations if not all start or arr all about HOW ML works without any purpose !
THANK YOU... SIR...!!!
It is great. I am interested to know more about all those...!!!
Thanks again...!!!
Most welcome!
Thanks for this detailed video.
This was an excellent introduction.
Thank you.... please do make another video on this topic... I enjoyed this one
Thank you, I will!
Awsome teacher! Agree with all the best compliments already written up and down here.
Brilliant. The most accessible tutorial on ML. And I do study AI as a job.
Excellent narration, I understood the AI besics
Thank you Jason, great introduction to AI. I hope you make or like it.
Great explanations Mr. Jason. I'm planning to do a masters in AI and ML next year and I've purchased a subscription to your platform.
I'm also following your other maths and stats courses.
I would really love more videos on AI/ML. It is extremely popular and relevant and many people want to go study this.
Thank you 🤗
Awesome 👏 thank you 🙏 Jason
amazing, thank you!
No words enough to describe such efforts, i just want to say : 🌹🌹🌹
Breat lecture - I'm understanding more, can't wait for part 2
Hi Jason. Very good Introduction. Are you planning to come with more videos or a playlist for Neural Networks and Deep Learning
V good simple explanation
Exceptionnal content ❤🎉. Thanks alot
I enjoyed watching your video on the introduction to Neural Networks. This is an interesting field of study. Python is one programming language that is used to develop and build Neural Networks. Calculus, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics and Probability/Statistics are also helpful for studying Neural Networks architecture, design and implementation.
Wow! You make learning fun.
excellent please do another video on this subject
Thank you man!
Great introduction! Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks, will do!
Very informative videos. I enjoy your explanations. It helps me be a better CIS instructor. I view you as my virtual mentor and you inspire me to be better at what I do for my students. Teach the teacher approach. Thumbs Up Jason!
Thank you so much!
