    Hey Campoholics, any opinions about the two brands? What steps do you recommend for the RV?

  • @ConsidertheWonders
    @ConsidertheWonders Před 3 lety +7

    We love our solid step. It’s 💯 the better of the two products 👍

      We had them on our Forest River and missed them even more after walking on the Moryde.

    We actually have the Lippert Solid Steps also and love them. I could see and understand your frustration with the factory installed steps. They looked a little narrow.

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 lety +1

      They certainly were narrow. We gained 4.5 more inches of width with the Lippert. Thanks for the support Tom!

    I chose the Solid step for ours for the larger top step. My parents who are 62 & 63 just bought their first camper and it had the "diving board" steps so I bought them a set as well to help them from falling as well. Worth every penny.

      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for watching. We agree, the top step makes a huge difference. I think the main issue was the top step and that they definitely were not wide enough. Plus the fact that they didn't stay "up" when we closed tht door. Very happy with our upgrade still.

  • @rogercrawford2447
    @rogercrawford2447 Před 3 lety +7

    Issue I see isn't the MorRyde step and more the fitting of the step GD chose. My MorRyde steps are from door frame to door frame. And pro-tip - it's pronounced MORE RYDE, it has two R's.

      Thank you for the correction Roger, we made the changes in the text. Thanks for watching.

      I have the same steps as you and I agree the dealership put the wrong size steps on that coach

    I"m sorry you slipped off your steps a couple times...that's scary! Your new steps look identical to the ones that are on our camper, and they are great! We've had no problems with ours. Hope you never fall again! :)

    The LCI Solid Steps are the third best mod I've done on our 5er - right after the disc brakes and the 2nd a/c. Love that extra wide top step. MORrydes were not a choice after seeing that top platform along with 6" more width. Ours are Gen 2 without the assist but even so are still pretty easy to raise and lower

  • @waterandlandadventures4319

    Hi Just subscribed. Our old camper had those steps as well. Good upgrade.

  • @Eddiesin
    @Eddiesin Před 3 lety +2

    Nice video, just for your info, morryde has a 24” wide step as well, it’s just that GD installed the smaller one on the momentum’s, you could always use that smaller steps on your garage door with some slight modifications

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you! Yes the MoRyde steps could have been wider on the Grand Design. That would have made it better. Although we must sat we love that top "platform" step with the Lippert. We ended up selling the MoRyde on FB market place so it all worked out. Thanks for watching!

    I am so glad I found this video. I will have those manual life flip steps on my new Brinkley and I really hate them! The day we toured the rig I nearly fell because of having to take a giant step to get to the skinny top one.

    • @TheCampoholics

      @@TheCampoholics according to another channel the drop from inside the camper to the first (top) is a whopping 13”. No wonder I have trouble with it. Even if I step down in the center of it. And going up is awful also. Hard on the knees.

    Great video, many thanks for pointing this out. I`m going to be getting a 5th wheel soon and was pondering what steps to have. The fact you pointed out you took a fall sold me and the width NO BRAINER, I live in South Florida and RAIN is always happening here the last thing I need is fall and a broken ARM/LEG/ANKLE. God Bless.

    Woo! Who is that motley crew? Was alcohol involved? Wait! Do that again, the look! I see what you are saying. Those guy worked really fast. Wow, those are much nicer. Thanks for sharing this video.

    Great video! I’m currently looking to buy these Solid Steps for my Montana 5th wheel. Your door opening looks like it’s the same measurement as mine, 29 3/8. Did you go with the 26” model or the 30”?

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 2 lety

      Hello LD We have the 30" Quad version with the lift assist. The Amazon link to the items are in the video description if you wanna shop and compare. Also you can go to LCI1.com and compare. Thanks for watching!

    With all do respect, that's why when you order them you measure from ground to threshold and widith of nmt. I am assuming the problem is yours not the company

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 měsíci

      Are you referring to the factory installed, original MoR yde steps? If so.. I had nothing to do with the measuring and odering of the steps. They came with the unit.

  • @jesserevilla992
    @jesserevilla992 Před 3 lety +1

    Lippert steps are far better. You may pull over as your traveling and have uneven ground to set the stairs down onto. That space between the bottom lip of door and lip of the stairs allows for opening . Where as the Moryde would not. That was our experience on a rental RV

    • @TheCampoholics

  • @paulnubreu6887

    These are for sure better however your main issue remains.

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 lety +8

      The steps are wider creating a bigger surface area to hit with the first step out of the camper. The side rails of the step are also lower than the MORryde brand. The MORryde side rails were level with the door threshold causing our right foot to make contact with the rail causing the slip. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching.

    That's not the moryde step that's the trailer manufacturer problem those steps are just way too small

    • @TheCampoholics
      @TheCampoholics  Před 3 lety +1

      That's is what our suspicion was as well. Evidently it's standard issue on this model of Grand Design units. Someone needs to change this to prevent injuries.
