      candii10 Efik = Calabar people.....Is there a difference? My dad is Igbo but lived in the the area when he was younger, spoke the language perfectly, listens to the music and ate the foods consistently which he made my Igbo mom learn how to cook ...like Edikaikong with perrywinkles which by the way is one of my best soups. From him I understood that Efik people are part of Calabar. But educate me if I'm wrong.

    • @candii10
      @candii10 Před 10 lety +7

      Ndu Odi Kedu! ... Efik is the language that Calabar/Akwa Ibom people speak so I meant it's great that Efik is coming up in the midst of Naija's predominantly English/Igbo/Yoruba dominated pop music scene =] tell your dad he is not alone. My mom grew up in Calabar too!! Speaks Efik, Igbo and Yoruba and just last week, we finally took a break from egwusi and pepper soup to make ekpankwukwoh ... CHAI!!! I need more Calabar food in my life. I haven't had edikaikong in a very hot minute so I'm jealous.

    Africa calling - The Mother and Birthplace of rhythm ,movement and dance. The graceful complexity of the coordination of movements are coupled with the dancers interpreting every word and beat of the music. This is the height of classic creativity unmatched anywhere else.
    Of course , the music sounds like a mixture of Soukous from the Congo and Soca from Trinidad and Tobago. But then again, they are all rooted in the same family of musical traditions. I have heard similar genres of this music across the Caribbean, particularly from those countries with populations originating from Africa. . An infectious song - an anthem of rhythm ,dance, movement and cultural expression. A big thank you to Nigeria -a powerhouse in African music.

    It's obvious for U.S. to be the most popular in the western hemisphere because it's the most populous. With so many people in a nation, comes with countless talents which in turn accounts for national influence around the globe. Nigeria some day, will be the United States of Africa, same as China might become United states of Asia only if they can adjust to getting involved in global issues as well as exposing their culture to other races around the globe. Nigeria still has a long way to go but in this decade it's already the economic giant of entire African continent. Angola and Morocco have higher per capita (higher standard of living) than Nigeria but, the two don't come close to influencing global economy as much as Nigeria. In simple language, we expecting more cultural growth to come out Nigeria as time goes by.

Isn't true that Nigeria now uses revenue from their movie industry in their national budget? I don't favor any African nation in particular, but the numbers don't lie!

      +Asedri Amin Amin and your point is?? Does it matter if nigeria become United States of Africa? As far as I know, nothing like that will happen, and if it happens them that would be nice as far nigeria is a black country run by black people. So no problem with that.......Ur the kind of people who are trouble makers. Trying to get other African people to hate nigeria, sister you have failed. Try next time....
