He popped the soccer ball and said “no more soccer”, because the movie he made before this was a massive international hit, about soccer. The world was hoping for a sequel, or anything, from him again, so he wanted to make it clear that this isn’t a sequel to Shaolin Soccer.
The movie is called Shaolin Soccer and hilarious.
yeah. he just wanted to reference his last movie before this.
Did you notice...that soccer ball was fake CGI?
KingOfGamesss
Genius! This is call a Movie and 95% of the movie contents are fake.
You must do Shaolin Soccer next. Classic. They are a perfect double bill.
Stephen Chow is so good directing. This movie has so many details and references to other things, like the reference to "The Shining" or "Batman" when the axe gang claims for reinforcements, even using a reference to Danny Elfman score for Tim Burton´s Batman. Also he knows so well what he is doing in the action and fighting scenes. And the music is really good too. Its really brilliant and genious in my opinion.
What’s the Batman reference ?
@@tempsitch5632 the axe symbol in the sky? for batman it was the bat symbol in the sky...
@@zellrang Not really a reference.
the harp fighting scene is still one of the most iconic fights in kung fu cinema.
Fun fact: The landlord and landlady, were the martial art big brother and sister (classmate) of Jacky Chen in real life during their teenage years. The landlady, Yuen Qiu, was in the James Bond movie The Man With The Golden Gun. She was one of the school girls who save Bond when escaping from the Karate school. Her husband the landlord was played by Yuen Wah, who was Bruce Lee's stunt double in Enter The Dragon. When you see Bruce doing the acrobatic tumbling and back flip, that was actually Yuen Wah.
I loved this movie so much! I remember watching it with my dad all the time when I was a kid. And so glad you reacted to the cantonese version instead of the dub
That instrument the two dudes were playing is called a zither.
Shaolin soccer next?!
17:26 that's weird, I still have this dvd and mine translated that as the landlord being like "I don't understand what you just said, say it again in Chinese" to the guy randomly speaking English lol, they even do a callback at 25:12 where once again the landlord can't understand someone's dying message
@24:43 This moment, in the background, when Stephen Chow tries to hit The Beast in the face with that little piece of wood is one of the funniest moments ever. Congrats to the Beast actor for the stonefaced acting.
Fun fact: Dragon ball actually inspired many Asian films with it overpowered final transformation. DB was first published in 1984, 20 years ealier than Kungfu hustle.
One of the best movies!!! Saw it for the first time in 2004 and have it on DVD. LOVE IT!!!! Funny as hell but still emotional during many moments. The ending is* cheff's kiss*
I absolutely loved this movie.
Such a great movie! 🤣
Stephen chow made this with Eastern and Western comedy and action movies mixed with cartoon jokes. Absolute masterpiece I wish it could've been more noticed
Kung Fu Hustle is in my opinion the best Kung Fu comedy of all time due to it's unique style and story. Stephen Chow hit his stride with Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. I really hope Shaolin Soccer is on your watch-list since it's a "spiritual prequel" in a way (as explained by Temp Sitch). It's also a Kung Fu comedy and top notch. It was a big hit which led to Stephen Chow getting twice the budget to make Kung Fu Hustle.
Its a seriously good film
The knife throwing scene. Hilarious.
The translation for this is pretty different from what I remember, that's so weird!
for real! haha I was laughing at the translations, hopefully he got to enjoy the show though
I do speak cantonese and I can say it's really bad translated. Hope he still can enjoy this movie :)
Jay check out Jackie Chan in The Legend of the Drunken Master (1994) alot of action and comedy
The subtitle is not accurate.17:25 that guy is actually speaking English "What are you preparing to do?" And the landlord replied "why don't you speak Chinese"
Stephen Chow is an absolutely master.
If you are interested in more foreign movies, please check out Baahubali 1 & 2. You'll love them.
Bruce Lee Tribute: When the Landlady is seated between the Boss and his assistant, she faces the boss, and mimics the gestures Bruce Lee used while also facing a crime boss in Return of the Dragon. She wags her finger at him, then closes both fists, then just the right (while knuckles cracking can be heard), she jerks her head up, and the boss nods he understands, then she thumbs her nose, exactly like Bruce Lee.
stephen chow is absolutly amazing , funny , and i reccomend his films , his facial expressions when hes trying be serious
Great job Jay thanks

this dude is what mellverse wants to be
Mellverse has developmental disabilities. Nobody wants to be him. Also, this guy was here first.
Check out Kung Pow Enter the Fist.
Very funny 😂🤣.
The English subtitles are really bad. This movie relies a lot on its dialogue for humor, but the subtitles ruin many of the original jokes. They feel like a humorless recreation rather than a faithful translation. For example, the opening line "What are you looking at? Want the address of my tailor?" was originally "What are you looking at, never seen such a handsome boss?" Clearly, the latter is funnier.
Your editing needs work bro.
How so?
This is more like a black.comedy
These subtitles are bad. they do not translate accurately the words. Many meanings are Lost in translation.
Your subtitles not that good...
wonderful movie, horrible subtitles
Why didn’t you watch the English version ?? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Because he’s not stupid ?
You should have gone the English dub version
