Testing Old Locomotives - Will They Run?

I was sent these vintage ho scale locomotives around a week ago and today I finally got around to testing them. Most of them turned out to be runners but there were a few that are future projects. I would like to thank David Z to G scale for sending these locos as it was very generous of him to do so.

Well, Harrison, I forgot to let you know that the Baldwin 🦈 nose wires are not connected, and while your at it, give the motor a once over. The New Haven should have been a runner, maybe something got jarred loose in shipping. Of course, you'll work your magic and get her running - - it's a sharp locomotive. I peeked under the shell, and it has an interesting shaft drive system.

SMT - The Rock Island originally had the black & red livery for freight locomotives. The Rock's original passenger locomotive livery was red & silver.

Nice looking locomotives SMT! Shame the Pennsy and New Haven units didn't run. Still very worthy of a restoration though! Glad to see the Amtrak GG1 worked, that thing is cool!

with the pennsy shark-nose, i think i saw the problem. from the video it looked liked the pick-up wheels were on the same side, so if that's the case, i'm hoping it a great runner when it's fixed.

Didn't know TYCO did the Sharknose in Pennsy. I have Rock Island, Burlington Northern and Midnight Special, plus one that someone custom painted.

Of course they will work its SMT where there's a will there's a way Eh lol. At SMT Mainline service center it may run or it may need some help but most likely they will be runners. :) that new haven caught my eye. Classic FL9. I got mine all painted and decals done on my steamers finally !

Speaking of tyco power I let myself buy a silver streak and it ran fine at first now it has a stop start problem and an apparent pulling problem

I forgot to add something about that new haven FL9 the real ones ran from 1950s strsight thru the Penn central overtake. Then Connecticut trans or metro north took and ran one for the commuter service 80s thru 90s . I believe one ia still running re named CT rail. And the original one number 2002 is at naugatuck railroad Museum still running to this day . nice piece of history for anyone interested . if I'm wrong imput corrections if you like I'm probably not that far off on railroad history stuff however I shouldn't call it a FL9 because those ran on the mainline tbey also ran into New York City and there is a guy that narrates old film taken of the Bew haven trains back in 1960s showing how they ran from New York and all the way to Rhode Island border.
