Brian, I'm not a painter but own and manage a bodyshop. No offence but a lot of painters I've had do not know the proper or correct way of painting as you do but just because they've been doing it their own way for years, they seemed to believe their way is the only and correct way of painting it. I even took a several automotive paint classes at college just to learn the proper way of getting a paint job done but they don't teach stuff like this you use in real situations besides the paint skills in general.
Although my painters never liked me being picky and learning from your videos, you've made a lot of my customers happy and satisfied and I can't thank you enough for that.
I sincerely thank you for sharing and teaching your valuable knowledge with us. God bless you

Many professionals underestimate the effect of the so called orange peel of 1 stage/uni/2 stage clearcoat. Assuming you have perfect groundwork (zero paint cloudiness, spot on colormix etc) matching a color is very much dependant on the graininess/texture/orange peel of the adjacent paint. be it clear coat or 1 stage/uni coat. so if you do your job too good and have a minimum of orange peel you can adjust the color all day, you may not end up with a good result, because the reflection/absorbtion of what you did is different from the rest of the vehicles (factory) adjacent paint structure. this is where experience and the fine art of this craft come into play: matching the graininess/texture/orange peel of the orignal paint leads to the desired even visual reflection and greatly affects color perception. so yes, a close to perfect paint job means you also have to know how to end up with a certain amount of orange peel after the drying process and with all solvents and additives evaporated. this means deep knowledge of your trusted guns, air pressure, material, adjusting temperatures, distance, speed, viscosity, throughput etc. of course fixing "uneven" transitions by sanding the peel flat, matching and blending via polishing is the standard "easy way out" and works ok, but nothing beats your job matching the original in (almost) every aspect. i only met a handful who really could do that and yes it is the hardest thing to learn, because it can't really be taught.

I have been watching you for a while now and that tip about spraying or watching from the side is one of your most useful, I have had jobs where I finish and find something I did not notice while spraying, a simple fix when actually spraying like chucking a little more clear on it but after you left it it can be a pain

Difference between you and the "rest of us", is that YOU'RE A PROFESSIONAL👍
You make these things look so easy and simple common sense stuff.
Well, my bike paint job isn't so far, Kandy is a MOTHER to spray for 1st time sprayer!
I have a side vents/air inlet plastic piece on the front fairing on my Goldwing that's giving me fits!
Dry spraying and/or striping, it's already got way too many coats of materials, sprayed TWICE...sealer(2× coats) fine silver metallic base(2x coats), mid coat clear with pearl(2x coats), Hawaii'n Blue Kandy(2× coats) and 1st 2 coats of clear.
So, how the the heck do I remove all the paint I put on to start from scratch?!
I'll lose all my(and my wife's) finger prints manually sanding these parts to original paint.
DA will get do far but I'll still have the nooks and crannies to manually sand!
I'm 62, I don't have rest of my life sanding! Is there ANY plastic safe paint stripper available to "non-professional" DIY'ers?

I’ve used several lvmp sprayguns , I gotta say there are some that are very anemic and struggle to put down the paint . Also the fan size is very small I would say around 6-8 inches, now for this particular panel you sprayed I think the gun was right in its elements, on a larger job I think this gun would start to frustrate me lol. Now however, the material savings might be something a diyer would def consider given that paying for material for personal use is very costly Atleast that’s what I’ve noticed on my own projects and side work projects. Regardless good video Brian thanks 🙏🏻

Just picked up my truck yesterday, and the paint job should have costed the painter $10,000.00
Yes, he should have paid me $10,000.00…
All the complements I got yesterday, made me think; these people who are complimenting my truck, IS LIKE, they are seeing me with Jennifer Lopes, when I KNOW FOR A FACT that it’s Rosie O’Donell.
