Panic wasn't trying to take anything away from The Band's version of this song because it will always be the best and I'm sure that they realized it but this is an excellent cover of the song. I personally think that it is the best COVER I've heard of it. You don't need to call the band douchebags for simply doing a cover of a song. If nothing else they helped to introduce a classic song to a younger generation. I say well done.

I don't get why people hate on this band. I actually like them, and I hate most music from this decade, but I feel like they are real band with real good music. They don't sing about stupid shit like artist today do, and they did a fine good cover of this song, so did Weezer.

okay guys, you might not like panic at the disco, but there are plenty of places you can go hate on them, but on one of there videos is a bit ridiculous...when you gain some musical talent, and get big enough to play at reading festival, i'll watch the videos, and say 'oh no, panic at the disco's cover was MUCH better... go hate somewhere else?
@TheZombieJC I love Jimmy Page/Zeppelin and Jack White is easily my favorite musician in the entire world... but their version is hardly the best cover. They got the lyrics wrong for starters. Granted it was impromptu with no rehearsal, but still wrong lyrics are wrong lyrics.

I was amazed when I found out that Panic At The Disco did a cover of The Weight! Great harmonies, definately the best "modern" cover of this song.

A pretty good cover of a classic. And mculver7 is right, it does help to introduce a classic to a younger generation.
