I love how this song says something so simplistic, "and I'm sad" and would normally be cringy, but the raw emotion when he says it is so powerful that it just hits you in the feels

In this song, Frank doesn't even do it intelligently, no metaphors or literary devices, he just straight up says "I'm sad" and the way he says it is what makes it so powerful.

So i graduated from HS in 2013. At the time, i hadnt seen my father since I was 10 years old, and even before then, I was probably about 5 the last time I saw him. For some reason still, I wanted to invite him to my graduation. My mother on the other hand told me that if he was going to be there, she would not come. Because of that, i never invited him... I remember being in my room, getting dressed for my ceremony and listening to this song while crying like a baby... frank put into words what i could not say and helped me work through those feelings. I was 17.

I love this song alot. I lost my Grandpa about a year ago. He was a better father figure than my dad and he would always tell me the truth while my parents occasionally lie to me. My grandpa was a really strong and hard working man. Everytime I struggled at my job I always remember about him and told my self to keep my head up. I was happy I finally got to see him again since he lived in Mexico and was allowed to come into the states for a visit. But I just felt like he wasn't going to come back ever again so I spent my whole day with him on his last day and he told me he was very happy that he was able to see me again. Eventually months path and he got really sick and sadly he passed away. I'll never forget you Papa Jose.
