As good of a man as James Evans was, John Amos is even better. He made immeasurable sacrifices to protect his integrity, and promote manhood. Salute!
Thanks for the insight OG. Please continue to spread the knowledge of this systematic country we live in💯
My main man Willie D. Let me explain something to you. When you start talking about a man's man. I compliment you . You kind of remind me of James Evan. I'd like to compliment both of you fellows. Both of you strong black men. The real stand-up type You dig?
Willie D Live, I am also one of your subscribers and I want to thank you for your countless hours, hard work and dedication that you are providing for our community. You're our "James Evans " in these CZcams streets 😊.
May peace, happiness and continued blessings be with you and yours.
PURE FACTS ! Willie D !
As good of a group the Ghetto Boys was, Bushwick Bill was even better. He made immeasurable sacrifices to protect his integrity, and promote manhood to the group.
James was the realest black father on TV.
Philip Banks and Carl Winslow
James didn't have two nickels to rub together, but his character was the epitome of a man.
AS A "BLACK" MAN
I'm a Black woman, and he's a Black man, so that's obvious. 🙄
Hello beautiful woman.... I like your words... On the clock here in Melrose Park Illinois USA watching this video.... His Character Mr.James Evans is an example of a black man who is a positive attitude Father for the black man in the United States of America....
Florida punk ass was always hating and keeping them struggling 😂😂😭😭
@@brandobee2264 - Nah, she was a good supportive wife that helped her husband remain an honest man.
He looks better than JJ does now.
JJ look like Bruce Bruce now.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's not nice to say that about a person guarantee you when it's all said and done you'll be old and"ugly" too ..also cause you know why that's one of our punishments from God.. You can't sin and stay beautiful forever..
@@rachealbailey7054, then let he is without sin cast the first stone.
@@rachealbailey7054, that person didn't say anything wrong they just gave their opinion.
Glad to know he's still alive and well
💯👌☝️👏🤗💝💕💖💞🥰😍🌷💮🌹
All facts though, I thought he died
Even after being "fired"..he still has respect for Norman Lear.. "Mr Lear"..what a respectable soul you are🙂 thanks Brother Amos‼
What a gentle, good looking man. Would love to see him on TV again!
Thought vlad was the worst in interrupting people he interview🤔. I STAND corrected
President Popoff yeah but vlad should know better because he’s trained but she’s not
Verseanda Turner trained or experienced?
😂😂😂
It was a full 2+ minutes into the video clip before we heard John Amos say 2 words. I doubt that anyone clicked on this video to hear Luenell ramble on. 'Just shut up already!'
loooooooooooooool
It's not working. She needs to be trained.
He played a true role model on Good Times.
Would have loved to have heard more from John Amos. Too many interruptions.
Agreed. Love her personality but she gotta learn to listen and allow the person she’s interviewing to speak.
When he said “ And you to Willona “ man that took me back 😂😂😂
I caught that to
Yep, me too. Now she has passed😪. 2020 has been cruel:(
I think John got about 25 words in this interview
Wow Esther Rolls told norman lear "that's my husband" nice!
3 minutes into this and he's got about 10 words in so far.
Yeah... She's terrible at this
I think she's just super excited to be interviewing an icon like John Amos.
DAMN DAMN DAMN!!! - Florida
John Amos has played some incredible roles but his role on Good Times was the most important and legendary one despite towards the end of the series...true or facts?
The Alkebulan Trust facts
No ! he played a pretty strong role in Roots!
If you shut up he will tell you 😔
Absolutely!!!!!!!!
lol :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣 right
Cmon na its luenell, shes use to being on the opposite side
Ikr! Every time she asked a question, which was not cLear some of the time, she would cut him off and then jump to the next question!
John Amos is an incredible actor... and still holds the title for me as TV's most beloved and respected Father (figure).
For those that don't know, Laurence Fishburne was originally cast as Michael.
Really? What happened? Why didn’t he keep the job?
He sure was!! Bookman was supposed to be...Lamont Sanford!! Rowan and Martin's Laugh In wouldn't release him because they loved him on that show.
Gtfoh!
that's crazy
@@gl6996that's wouldn't have worked Demon Wilson was skinny as hell when was on Sanford and Son
Dear Mr. Amos, I trust you are doing well. My best wishes to you, to all the other surviving cast members of Good Times, and to your loved ones.
Does he know how many people looked to him as a father figure??
I know i did
Of course that's why he did what he did
He was the most relatable
Ive never heard anyone ask him that questiom
And you know what they say about assuming
His Looks aint change good old days when tv was television 70's-on 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
He has a great vocabulary. Very well spoken.
I watched Live on ABC when they redid Good Times, Amos played Alderman Fred Davis, he looked much older than he did on this interview. He looks good for 80. John Amos is a very good actor.
Always loved John Amos. Good Times was definitely a fav of mine growing up, along with What's Happening and Sanford and Son.
He looks good for being hella old. BLACK DONT CRACK

Mr.Amos 🤗 I adore you thank you for your contributions.

Great interview Lu! Love Mr. Amos! Rest in peace Ja'net Dubois! ❤❤❤
Loved this man. He had standards and ethics. Much RESPECT SIR.
Lunell interrupted before he could finish the story about Ester Roll and the unemployment check.
Coach B yeah I really wanted to hear that.
EXACTLY!!! I was just about to post that
She learned that from Vlad

@@KHALIAGREEN right!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
The thing about James Evans is he got knocked down all the time and always got back up - one job, two jobs, whatever it took. Just like my father and grandfather and me. He even died working to save his family
I still have MAD love for James Evans Sr# TrueBlackFather
He aged well, but on the other hand jj aged horribly and I don't know if it was drugs or what
Coke Lord right. Jimmy Walker seems extremely negative in interviews I’ve seen him in. Especially when he talks about the show. That’s why he looks like that. John Amos looks way better than him even though it’s not that big if a age difference between the two.
No not JJ, the actor who played Michael aged horribly. For him to be the youngest, he looks the oldest.
jj was only 8 years younger
Jimmie "JJ" Walker was never a pretty boy, but at 72 years old he still appears to be in good health. The age of the characters on Good Time was not in line with the actors they portrayed.
Or what..
Mr. Amos is still looking good. Love me some him.
Cabrini green projects got torn down years ago and when that happened all the gangs that were in there got spread out to other gang infested neighborhoods across Chicago and the murders skyrocketed
Yeah they closed down some projects in Brooklyn too. The result wasn't as bad luckily.
Damn that sucks. I visited Chicago when the gentrification process started. I was so excited to see the high rise in real life. I'll never forget that time.
JJ was one of the gang leaders fun fact!
The greatest realest TV dad ever James Evans from Good Times he didn't play no games with ya... Especially in Black culture at that time and still now in my opinion.
She needs to do more interviews
James Evans, Sr. wasn't the father you had but he was the father you needed!
James Evans used to be checking all his kids off RIP, but he was a real family man till the end 💯
Batman Pop's hey friend 😃💜 & yep you’re right 💯
@@ashleyl1267 wassup Ashley LOL 👀😃🤗🤗❤
I hope there’s more of this interview. I love Lu, but she interrupted when John Amos was about to speak when he and Ester Roll were at the unemployment office. 🙄
ABSOLUTELY he was the favorite “black” father on tv. For ME, personally, James Evans and Andy Griffith are my 1A and 1B fave dads (shows) in no order. They’re both my favorite.
Me 2😀✌
I hate to say this but Bill Cosby is still my favorite. Ill just temporarily forget about his drugging of women for 5 seconds.
Do we have fathers on TV like James Evans and Phillip Banks anymore? I don't watch much TV anymore so it's a real question.
Good to see John again 😍😍😍
Such a dignified man. Hope he has continued health.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Mr. John Amos
THAT WAS A TIME WHEN LIL BLACK CHILDREN RESPECTED THEIR FATHERS!!!💯💯💯💯❤️🖤💚🇱🇾💪🏿✊🏿✌🏿
John Amos came to Annapolis Maryland and did a One Man show. My brother Mike got to meet him and spend time with Mr Amos and he really enjoyed the time spent together. He still talks about it to this day.
excellent energy!
Thanks Vlad and Luenell! Great interviews!
Wow his vocabulary is amazing!!!!!!!!!
Esther Rolle did plenty of television for years before Good Times, including Maude.
Reggie D
Good Times is the spin off from Maude. As Maude is a spin off of All In the Family.
It's so sweet how he calls her Ms. Rolle all the time
He is definitely my favourite tv dad💯
A LEGEND!! Love that dude!!
R.I.P. to miss DuBois ❤
As far as TV father's went, I always thought James Evans and the father from "the Wonder Years" were the most authentic..
I gotta admit Lunelle is doing her thing on these interviews. I haven't seen her as an interviewer anywhere else so she is killin' this. Peace to the Queen and the original father John Amos. Nah mean?!!! 🎤💯🔥✌
This dude reminds me of my pops. Same demeanor, no nonsense, straight up grown man, no cut.
We love you Luenell, John Amos is a legend!
“Dumpy”??? Disrespectful to Esther Rolle. Come on, Lunelle. 🙄
And the nerve... She isn't exactly Jet center fold material herself. Although she does have some strategically posed nudes in some famous magazine, they knew how to hide the negatives and accentuate the positives. That's the only thing that made the photos presentable. The only thing they couldn't hide was that thick neck. Can't do nudes in a turtleneck. LOL 😜🤣
@@covertLLC OMG I'm ⚰️⚰️⚰️..lol
They the same shape!
Funny if a man would have said that mess he would have got that smoke 💨 (and deserved it). Women need to uplift each other and support each other. Most of us had someone in our family that Ms. Rolle reminded us of. She was a REAL WOMAN.
She lost me with that I almost clicked another video, but I wanted to hear John.
John Amos was my 1st TV crush! He is still so handsome!!!
A living legend!
I remember even as a kid, I really appreciated his role as strong father figure!
Love him!
James! 😍😍😍
i remember watching good times as a kid with my family (reruns obviously), and im a half white/hispanic 20 yr old, that show was great

Loved him in “beast master”
Dorian Greflanel I think many people are asleep on that...🤣🤣🤣🤣. That movie was my guilty pleasure!!!
Long live John amos!
I wanted to hear about Gordy the Weatherman -- glad he commented on that!
He played a great and proud father. He was similar to my father.
The OG of all OGs
Yess love hearing Lunelle
Real Man, they don't make them like HIM anymore...Best TV Father, plus Great Actor, Thank You Kansas City Mack.
Yes, Kansas City Mack, great on Let's Do It Again!
John Amos is a great man.
Do you remember when he gave micheal friend the "big mac". 🤣😂
Hell yeah 😂😂😂
We need to bring that back!
Too funny!
I don't remember
Saw them on Maude, just happened to be flipping through channels
Did she just call Esther Rolle dumpy? The nerve!
James was a g. Took care of family and wife. Good times earlier episodes was great.
Excellent interview Lunell!! Love you!!
Luenell,
Bless your heart ❤️ Interviewing is a work of curiosity. You must ask open ended questions for the guest to answer instead of ones that can be answered in one word.
What are they on about? Mr Amos played Ms Rolle’s husband, Henry on the tv show, Maude. Ms Rolle was brilliant on Maude and had become a favourite. Which is why she was given her own show and asked the producer to consider Mr Amos to play her husband again.
I agree with Luenell James is my favorite TV dad. RIP Janet Dubois she passed today.
John isn't really that much older than Jimmy Walker in real life yet they played father and son .
DAMN DAMN DAMN
The wrong host can absolutely derail an otherwise excellent interview. He is so interesting.
James was a man's man. An example for future generations to follow.
I was just a kid during the 70's. I had a *major crush* on Wilona 😍💕 Back then I called her "Malona" 😄😆....Ja'Net DuBois was super duper fly👌💕 She was such a distraction that I never considered how fine Thelma actually was until I'd gotten older...go figure🤷♂️
"Baby tell me something, you been knowing Wilonna longer than me. What does she look like with her mouth shut?" Lol
I'm ginger white kid and in the 90s I loved watching Good Times, Family Matters, and Fresh Prince. I watched Boy Meets World and Step by Step, but there was something about the black father that projected greater strength, discipline, and respect.
I got love for luenell , she is one of my favorite comedians but she need to work on her interviewing skills 💯😂😂
He was Florida's boyfriend Henry on Maude. On Good Times, James's daddy name was Henry on the show.
No lie, I think it would be a lot less crime and a lot more successful men(black and white) if they had a dad like James Evans!
