Thanks for making videos like these, Jared. It's awesome that you take the time to go over every option on these cameras.
#gotthisfar Thank you for the video. It was a great help. I am new to the camera world. I was waiting for you r7 video, this will work it just a few more features. What is your recommended Micro HDMI cable for these camera? What is the one you are using in this video?
Crushed it, wonderful video! Thanks you helped me find the vertical video setting that I had a hard time finding, among other things. Keep it up!
Your tutorial is excellent and very much appreciated. 👍
I just bought the R10.
40 mins in and I want to buy this camera :) I have not come across a more fun and detailed guide to using your camera before. Awesome, thank you so much.
it is, R has more pixels...
Just purchased this camera and this video is exactly what I needed to know all these settings. Very thorough and covered everything the camera can do. I will be saving this video and definitely be referring back to it again. Yes I watched it right to the end.
Just ordered one of these and then you upload this. Perfection.
Thank you for ALL you do. Especially for those of us that are brand new to the world of cameras. I discovered you when I purchased a Nikon D7500 last year. I am now selling it after purchasing the R10 yesterday. I could not wait to watch your tutorial for this camera. Please keep up the great work! 🤙
Question: I wanted the Nikon D7500 but at the last minute bought the canon R10 instead. As you've moved from the D7500 to R10 are you glad you did? Was it an upgrade or a side step?
not sure what i like more, the content or your hair
thanks for the awesome video and explanation!
Just got my R10 and I love it thank u for the help on settings, this video definitely helps
Thank you Jared. That is the most detailed and exceptionally clear user’s guide for my R10, or any camera, and it helped me greatly. Even though I am an experienced amateur photographer, the extensive and ever increasing menus have seemed challenging until now. You have helped me immensely to understand the menu functions and now I can make changes with good understanding. Thank you. Cheers.
you're welcome
Very helpful! I use this camera now for a week. I was hoping for a walk through of the menu like this. Thanks a lot!
Well I just purchased this r10 and I will receive it next week and so thank you for this walkthrough through the menu I am ready to use my camera already but I suffered through the entire video and I love how you flew through the ending on the video part because I was getting tired too.
Thanks for the in depth video! It was extremely informative to a newcomer.
I was waiting for this video as I recently bought R10. It helped a lot . Thanks for the amazing content Jared .
#gotthisfar
Thanks Jarod, very helpful, will watch again in a couple of weeks.
#GotThisFar Can't believe how much info was jammed into this video. I don't feel like I'm missing anything in the menus now. This is a great place to get started with the R10. Wasn't sure I bought the right camera for my situation but this beast has it all... Thanks Jared.
Really, really useful video! A big thank you from a total beginner!
Thank you for that turorial. I will take a new look at my settings and make some changes.
Awesome video. Beginner here so appreciate this greatly.
I'm getting an R10 for Christmas. I'll be back here again setting it up. Many thanks.
Did you get it?
@@richardnixon4958 I sure did. I love it.
Hey, how was your last 11 months with r10? Which lenses do you recommend?@@Texray1
super lesson, learned some cool features and tips
26:18 - *actually pretty handy* . Yes, hardly usable in original format, but you can convert it to JPEG right in camera and get a nice boost in dynamic range not having to shoot real HDR (no three shots in a raw loosing time, disturbing surrounding and waiting for it frozen for several seconds to stitch into one). HEIF simply substitutes JPEG and shoots instantaneously, of which you can get HDR JPEG later. Tested it on R6 and it works.
Many thanks. Able to set up my new camera now with relative ease.
Don't own the camera, but gotta leave a like and comment for support 🤙
These videos are always super helpful when I pick up a new body ✌️
I was waiting for this video!!! Thank you so much 😊
Thanks for this guide !
I thought it would be important to mention that color space only affects JPEGs (not raw), but it also affects the histogram (since it is based on the JPEG). Since Adobe color space has a wider gamut you will get a slightly different histogram (more precise).
Thanks, this is so helpful!
Thank you, great information. My second time viewing this video.
Just picked up the R10, great video. Thanks Jared! Liked and subscribed. #GotThisFar
thank you for this video. learned much more than reading the manual
Grazie mille, ho comprato questa fantastica fotocamera ed ora posso finalmente seguire un tutorial. Grazie
I know i'm late to this party, and this may be old information, but I managed to find a good use for the control lock button! There is a setting for what locks and doesn't with this lock on. I set everything to be untouched except for the touchscreen. No more worrying about changing settings inadvertently when i'm gripping the camera wrong at a weird angle LOL
Just bought my R10. This video was great. You are AWESOME! Let me gon head and hit that subscribe button.
26:13 - probably should have talked about it, as it distinguishes more advanced cameras and was never included in cheap DSLRs. Nice having it here. Can save you in many cases. Say, if you shoot with 50mm, you don't want the shutter speed be lower than at least 1\100s at any times (to avoid shake), so you set this particular option to 1\125s and camera can go higher (shorter exposure), but not lower (longer). You're safe. The same with birds, e.g. I usually put the minimum to 1\1000 and let the camera shorten it if the light allows.
Thank you for this great information!
Thank you, you are extremely knowledgeable.
Thankyou .. it was very much helpful.
Thanks so much, good job 🥳🥳🥳🥳
This guide was great, learned a few things I didn't know from previous videos or guides. The preview AF thing was driving me absolutely bananas so I'm really glad I am able to turn that off.
Just got an R10 this week as a beginner, this guide is so amazing thank you! #gotthisfar
#got this far. Great video thanks. Im all set up now & ready to go out shooting
Awesome, what where is time lapse movie option in it?
These user guide videos are so fucking incredible and will help people for years to come
New buyer here, and this is my user guide.
#gotthisfar. Thanks Jared, you have equipped this beginner with a great start
#GoThisFar - Jared, thanks this really helped me understand some of the settings. I actually wrote down all the settings in Notepad and listed the ones you changed. I have only been shooting for a few years. Your explanations were great, the Light meter was something I did not know about. FYI, I shoot with some old manual FL lenses from my Dad with an adapter. You have to set the "Release Shutter W/O lens - on" to ON to take pictures with these manual lenses. The camera does not know they are attached as they are not electronic. (You asked yourself why would you want this setting on?? In the video :) ) The manual lenses helped me learn faster as they don't have any help with focus or aperture, it is all on you. Thanks again your videos are great. I will be buying your presets when I get to the Lightroom stage.
I've used Sony Tough 128 GB SD cards for years.
In my R5, my Ricoh GRIII, and now my R7. (And my previous cameras).
They are fast, and in my experience reliable.
Question for anyone. I’m getting my first 70-200 2.8 for sports. I have a Nikon z50 so would you recommend a Tamron g2/Nikon vrii +Ftz or spend more for Nikon z 70-200
Thank you for this video. #Gotthisfar!
#gotthisfar - just upgraded from a T3i to an R10 - wanted to make sure I had everything set up correctly
Is there an option to edit your file names directly on the camera itself?
loved this video and loved how you explained everything in a manner that is understandable for everyone
#gotthisfar
good stuff. plus you are a funny man. like your humor
Just purchased this bad boy..Looking to explore and take it out in the real world
Great camera.
Thankyou
Please reply, in this video you've shown. The Movie rec. size have 5 options. I got the camera few days back, in my camera. The Movie rec. size have only 3 options. Does it differ from country to country? I'm from India .. . ..
Can we do bukeh effect in video by 18-45 mm lens
1:11:15 - Release shutter w/o lens - you said this isn't useful, but it is necessary for attaching the camera without a lens to a telescope for astrophotography.
Thanks your video nice presentation’ for the new beginners’ I got the EOS R10 .. God Bless idol … 😊 watching in Macau 🇲🇴 🎉 How the extra cover for the Lens 18-150
Super helpfull. ❤
#gotthisfar I was behind on the new tech by about 14 years. Great walkthrough to get me up to speed.
A comment re metering modes. Whilst it is correct to say that mirrorless cameras simulate exposure in the viewfinder, so the shooter can see if a shot is exposed correctly (more or less) it is still important to use a metering mode appropriate to the subject, especially if shooting sports. There simply isn't time to fiddle with exposure for every shot, or even between shots in some cases, because the shot opportunity can be lost in the blink of an eye. Think of a motocross bike appearing suddenly over a jump, against a bright sky, then the shooter wants to follow the bike into a subsequent turn, in shadow. Using the most appropriate metering mode (sometimes a compromise) is vital if you're going to maintain a good keeper rate.
I am hoping you will do an update video when the R10 Mk II comes out in a couple of months.
#GotThisFar Just picked up this camera pre-owned at our local camera store and this was a great review of the features and how to quickly get up and running with it.
These videos are great. To they naysayers out there, these guides may not be for everyone right now, but they will serve a purpose for years to come. Earlier this year I watched Jared's guide to the EOS R in order to set up the camera I use at my then-new job. In the span of a few hours, I was able to set up the camera to function properly to use for product photography. Had I had to rely only on the manual, I'd still be tweaking the camera.
Thank you sir
I have a R10 canon which lens needs to buy a extra for sports and wild animal __ please be advised thx EF or STM
#gotthisfar
Great video Jared. I enjoy your channel and have also subscribed a long time ago. I just got this camera and needed help setting it up. Your video was very thorough and helpful. Thank you for your expertise at helping us others out. Spot on video.
#gotthisfar thank you much for putting the time and making video! Learned a lot about my new camera! Appreciate you! 🙏
thanks for the info. Saw is all! :)
Can't express how grateful I am, Thank you. #gotthisfar
#GotThisFar thanks man! this helped so much! especially, since this is my first proper camera....way too many functions for the beginner🤣🤣
Very nice and usefull video. But why can't I pay Fropack3 with iDeal or by bank?
#gotthisfar Thanks! I watched from the beginning to the end. Thanks for your thorough introduction.
#gotthisfar because I neeeeeed to learn all the settings for my new camera! thanks!
I was trying to install the preset in my iPad and didn’t work, spend 80 in #3 and 4 pack. How I can make it work?
I was wondering why my new canon R10 has busy signal when I use AV mode?
Jared, I need to disable the Flash button in the cross keys, where the Set button resides. Too often, my "Thenar region" (fat section under the thumb)of my right hand depresses the Flash button, in the midst of shooting, and my external flash gets disconnected. Aggravating!
Please help me with a solution, thank you!.
30:51 - not exactly fair. You don't have to shoot with FXs, but can apply later. Grainy b\w is very good looking as a preset, fish-eye at lowest setting (only) is usable too if you don't have fish-eye lens and shoot at particular angle, but the most fun is miniature. It really works. Just shoot from very high above (say, high-storey building) and apply the effect. You'd be amazed how realistic to miniature it looks (and I shot real miniatures, so experienced to compare). All the other effects are totally useless imo (although I used Toy Camera few times on IG).
Why when charging the official it doesn’t appear to change for a long time, can you throw any light on this please
#Gotthisfar. It was the best guide for the new camera. Thanks a lot.
Thanks stampy
I have this same camera but it only has options 1-5 under this mode as yours has 10 why would that be ?
Can R10 shoot 16 bit photos.. ??
Thanks for the vedio. I am Not a professional and not ameture,in between! Your explanation, though a little bit speedy for non English speaking guys like me,is fantastic. Own an R10.
#GotThisFar Damn just got the camera, 3 hours later still fiddling with settings. This video was a tremendous help! Thank you a lot!
Have somehow got a screen showing on the digital screen on my camera that shows all the information on my settings eg the TV setting. I can not get it turned off
Hi Jared, I want to get the Canon R10 however was wondering about the small buffer issue?
Can you set the R10 to take for example 8 photos a second, and get a longer time photographing without hitting the buffer at the vital moment. Would you say this is a good option, or should I just get the R7 [budget is an issue] Thanks for all your videos they help me so much!
Get the R
FYI: you would need Canon's DC adaptor to charge with USB-C. Regular USB doesn't work, only USB-PD would work.
What are the major differences between the R6 & R10 settings ?
Notice Canon: Please release the Canon R10 MK II with dual SD card slots. Thank you.
why, 256g SD card is plenty
Hey Jared, what have you heard about Canon blocking 3rd party lens manufacturers for making lenses for the RF mount???
I suspect than Canon includes the 'release shutter without lens' option for pinhole shooting.
Got this camera to help step up from my old pointy shooty.
This is way more helpful than reading the 900 page guide.
Yeah it’s a long video but it’s broken up into chapters and the info here will save you time later.
#gotthisfar
Did you make a user guide for the R7? Or do these settings relate well enough?
Here you go: czcams.com/video/5BGgRgzCsQU/video.html
Now that the R10 has been out for a while, would people recommend it as a good all-around camera? Family vacations, indoors shots, wildlife, portraits, etc? Is there anything that it just doesn't do well? My current camera is a T1i so I'm guessing it's leaps and bounds ahead of it...
yes, it's great for beginners. If you have $$ get R model..
I am really enjoying your tutorial. Being a total newbie, I am learning a lot from you already. I do have one question. Any idea why I can only get one image on the playback button, but the images do show up in the timing speed button.
It may be in there as a group if you took holding the shutter down together. If so click on the image and then scroll left and right to see the others.
Why it shifts my face right to left?
