As a Swede who grew up during the 90's and 00's, In Flames and At The Gates are very close to my heart.
Walking home in the dead of night in a cold, almost dystopian urban landscape with nothing but my thoughts, the cold air in my lungs and In Flames blasting at max volume were some of my most cherished moments.
Låter jävligt bekant. ;)
high as a kite
Whenever I haven't heard the In flames sound for a while and then one of their songs come on, the amount of chills going through my body is insane. :)
🤘🤘🤘🤘
It's the guitar tones that grabbed me and have never let go.
Their music just hits differently somehow, its always amazing and never gets old!
@@Howyodoinn In Flames was always about those guitar melodies for me. Beautiful.
I drove the truck with In Flames gear to Sweden Rock, Norway Rock and Wacken 2009 🤘🏻🇸🇪
Nice!!!
@Vinter Vilken Jesper?
In flames is one of the bands that has been with me for half my life.
One of the best concerts I saw from them was during the "in our room" tour 2017 in a very small venue where only a few hundred people fit.
I will never get tired of "My Sweet Shadow" - Live at Hammersmith. If you should do more In Flames here, I'd love to see it! :)
One of their best, agree!
I don't care for "My Sweet Shadow."
I love In Flames older stuff like "Behind Space," "Artifacts of the Black Rain," "Episode 666," "Ordinary Story", "Pinball Map", or "Clayman."
instablaster...
in flames were my introduction to heavier metal around 15 years ago and i still love them. love to see you had a similar journey with them.
Definitely one of my top 5 favorite bands of all time. I've seen them twice now live (only opportunities I've had) and they definitely hold up. Good freaking break down man.
This is one of my all-time favorite songs as well! Pretty much nothing beats old In Flames.
For sooo many years my favorite band --- now I remember the why again :)
I'm way more excited for this than any other band. In Flames is amazing, and seeing them live 3x has been a privilege. In Flames we trust 🤘🏼🤘🏼
The nostalgia... im pretty sure that there was a two year time frame where all I did was listen to these guys, soilwork, and a few other Scandinavian bands
Oh, In Flames. Such I huge part of my early 20s. I got this DVD for my 24th birthday from my then-girlfriend-now-wife right after it came out (and I still know where it is 😁). What they've become doesn't resonate with me any more, but that doesn't take anything away from the awesomeness of their early output.
Haha! Uncannily similar story here. Only difference is I got the DVD for Christmas 2004, not so long after my 24th birthday from then-girlfriend-now-wife. 🙂
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼 love the song choice haha 😆 so many memories of rocking out with my brother in his old pickup
There's something truly magical about this Sticky Fingers performance they did in 2004. I mean let's be real, In Flames from the Jester Race to Clayman era was a magical thing. Some would include Lunar Strain in that too but for me, Jester Race was their first album that truly floored me and really opened my eyes to this genre of metal. I still like and appreciate all of their albums up to about A Sense of Purpose but after that, I wasn't really invested anymore.
In my teens and 20s, I fucking lived and breathed this band. I went to as many shows as I possibly could whenever they were in the northeast US, and they were always phenomenal. By FAR they put on the best live show of any metal band I've ever seen live. Let's put it this way: I even went to one show where they had to have last minute fill-ins for BOTH Jesper and Bjorn. I was devastated when I found out because it was a last minute deal, but they didn't cancel the show and even without the most important pieces of the band, they STILL crushed it and put on an unforgettable performance. That's how good this band was back then.
If I had to pick just one song for them to perform live, it's Colony. This song is just so much better live than it is on the album, and if you've ever been to an In Flames show back in the day when Jesper was still in the band, and they played this song, you know exactly what I mean. The intro riff is so epic and powerful sounding with how they harmonize it, and then when they break into the next riff at 2:55, it's just instant goosebumps and head banging for me. It's spontaneous, exactly like it was for you here lol. It's not a complicated riff by any means, but it's so heavy and groovy with the drums, and how Anders carries his scream over it after it starts...perfection.
If you were one of the lucky 400'ish people who got to be at this gig @ Sticky Fingers, you witnessed something truly magical, there's no other way to describe it. The rest of us will happily settle for the DVD though lol.
Cloudn't agree more
I could listen to this riff all day.
Early In Flames was absolutely majestic man. One of the most important bands when I was growing up and The Jester Race still on my top 3 albums of all time and one of the most important records ever recorded in my opinion, especially as you said, for European metal.
What they did in the trilogy Jester Race, Whoracle and Colony is something that few bands were able to accomplish
One of my favorite tunes, both to blast on a stereo and to drum to, is Bullet Ride!
ahh... In Flames.. takes me back to my early years of metal. Love these guys \m/ Colony is one of my favorite In Flames songs.
Btw.. that bass has a sick sound in that live video.
Love old In Flames. Also, love the use of "Follow the Hollow" for the outro song.
🤘🤘🤘
Flames played such a big role for so many people who 'grew' to the much heavier side of metal through them. They will always be in my heart and because of them my taste still progresses
For everyone who loves early In Flames. Tsek out BLOODRED HOURGLASS just fucking awesome. Waves of black, six feet savior, quiet complaint, perdition, where the sinners crawl.... so many good songs. 🤘🇫🇮
And the new one released today!! \m/
Thank you!
Ahh Colony is one on my all time favourite albums. Just pure melodic perfection from start to finish. I do like the other "old" In Flames albums too, but Colony just hits the spot for me...
Thanks for the throwback! One of my favorite bands growing up. FYI,Anders was not a founding member. Before him Mikael Stanne was singer for In Flames. He switched to Dark Tranquillity, a band that you‘ve ignored so far, but absolutely shouldn’t! „Misery‘s Crown“, but more importantly „Terminus“!
Came here to give him hell again for neglecting Dark Tranquillity. :) xoxo
hehe right he should urgently do something of Dark Tranquillity. fun fact Anders frieden was next to Mikael Stanne founding member of Dark Tranquillity. Since In Flames didn't have a singer for their first album Lunar Strain they asked Mikael and so he was the "first" singer of In Flames before Anders changed to In Flames.
In Dark Tranquillity Mikael had played guitar first and Andres was the vocalist on the album Skydancer. and then Anders joined In Flames and Mikael took over the vocals in DT.
I think it was the best thing that could happen that In Flames and Dark Tranquillity swapped the singers. XD
I love how Insomnium is on the background on the intro. We need more Insomnium reaction dude!
I’d live to do more but every time I try they get blocked. Haha
@@TankTheTech thats a shame...
One of my all time favourite bands seen them live many times and they are fantastic I even got the chance to meet the band a couple of times and they super cool and chill. The fact that on this show they performed their entire album back to back and it sounded so good is a testament to how good that line up was as musicians and performers!
Colony is one of their best songs IMO. Live is even better.
Brings me so much joy to watch people from my second country enjoying music, composed by my fellow, Swedish countrymen!
So ready for this! Can't wait ... haven't heard stuff from that concert in ages!
I saw In Flames two years ago live in Orlando and they played this song just amazing experience, the whole show was perfect the sound and heavy stuff brutal
I Love this band! From the old music to the new! My favorite band ever!
In Flames we trust. This dvd is always on rotation, older In Flames seriously rocks. Keep up the Rewinds Tank 🤘.
Never heard of them before. I love them
OHH MAAAAAAN!! This made my day :D love this performance, the start is EPIC when he counts from 1 to 4!
Colony is by far my favorite song by them. Was so stoked when they played it in Helsinki set last December.
Man, just stumbled upon this while checking your latest reactions. Gave it a like even before watching, 'cause In Flames is my favorite band.
Saw them live here in Germany at Daniel's last gig. Was so emotional. The whole band was tearing up.
Jesper's leaving was a big loss, but after Daniel's exit and then Peter's my world was shattered a lot.
Never the less I love listening to their music. The good old songs and the new ones as well.
My wife is somewhere in the front at this gig.
Sticky is a really small place but a lot of big bands have played in this club.
Nice!!!
In flames always gets me so emotional, they have always been the soundtrack to my life.
Now that you mentioned the likeness in Anders and Jonathan Davids movement on stage now i cant stop seeing it. Alias live at grammisgalan you can even see it in how Anders moves with the mic stand.. they are almost stage twins
God damn man. In Flames is such an underrated, under appreciated band. They've layed the foundation of what i love about metal from the first time I heard them. I love these guys thru and thru and they will always be at the top of my greatest list. All of that said, it does not even begin to descript their live show. 20 years into their career, they still put on one of the greatest live performances any fan could hope to witness!
Man I miss those days. I was there. Best gig ever.
And I too wanted a 5150 but had an old vintage Peavey head I still have and beat the living hell out of with my pedals instead. Had I only wished for a 5150 at Christmas....
Not only have old In Flames risen from the dead via The Halo Effect, Iwers and Svensson run Odd Island brewery as mentioned in the clip and Iwers and Gelotte have the best rock/burger-joint in town in shape of Restaurant 2112 (yeah Rush).
Go for it.
WoW, I'm from Gothenburg but I did not know that Sticky Fingers had to close, my mothers cousin is a drummer in the band Ailen (most known for a cover of "Only one Woman" by Marbels. Last time I watched them live was live at Sticky Fingers.
OH SNAP! The nostalgia is real with this one! Lovin it! Never seen or watched them live! Feel like I'm reacting now!
My first intro to In Flames was "Touch of Red" on a CD off of Metal Hammer magazine. Got to see them co-headline with Sepultura in Liverpool, UK a few years later. "Whoracle" is still one of my favourite albums so I was gutted that they didn't play "Jotun" but I walked away with one of their plectrums so I managed to cope.
Wow, that brings back memories. Long time ago I've listened to them. Thanks for sharing Tank!
Thanks for this reaction.
Great performance of my fav band.
Older in flames, especially live at Sticky, are criminally underreacted on YT.
This is some of their best stuff, in my opinion. 🤘
@@TankTheTech
If I may ask, what are your favorite In Flames songs? To me My Sweet Shadow and December Flower are best metal songs I have ever heard.
I know it is impossible to respond to every comment so no worries. I am just genuinely interested so if you ever see this I would be very happy if you responded.
Love the channel and reactions, even though I know nothing about music.
Some of my favorites are Colony, Cloud Connected, Food For The Gods, Artifacts of the Black Rain, Pinball Map, Episode 666, Trigger, My Sweet Shadow, and a handful of others. 🤘
@@TankTheTech
Appreciate the reply, mate. Great list.
Thank you.
In 2001 I started guitar tech for Alapeno from Big Iron in Dallas, TX and I got him hooked on In Flames, Soilwork, and many other Swedish bands. Alapeno is a well known guitarist in Dallas who grew up with Dimebag and Vinnie Paul and he had some awesome music with Big Iron and PornLab and later with Hellgoat. A club in Dallas called and asked if Big Iron wanted to do a show with In Flames and of course they jumped at it and was one of our favorite memories back then and was a dream come true for me, they were amazing live and awesome guys to hangout with! In Flames forever!!!
Been on a huge In Flames kick again! Always fun head banging with ya on a song 😂. Free Fall from reroute to remain has been a big tune for me lately 🤘🤘
In Flames yeeah boy let's get it \m/ and speaking of the Used & Abused DVD, the Hammersmith performances are otherworldly as well. The Quiet Place and My Sweet Shadow in particular. Big love for Gothenburg metal
I saw this band in Guadalajara Mexico 🇲🇽. Long time ago. In a small place called Roxy .🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Oh wow. Sticky fingers. What memories! This is truly a journey down memory line. So many extreme gigs that took place in there.
A little funny curiosity about Peter Iwers and Björn Gelotte. They opened a Burgers' n Beers place, called 2112 in central Gothenburg. One of the absolute best hamburgers I have eaten. Great place to hang out over a couple of cold once :D
I can't stop headbanging to this, it's not possible
Saw In Flames for the first time live at Kåren in Gothenburg in 2002. I believe I actually saw them at Sticky in 2004 as well. :)
More In Flames!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My roomie in college introduced me to In Flames. Saw them in concert years ago. Moonshield was my introduction
Dude !!! I almost have the similar story of how I found out In Flames for the 1st time, hopefully we can share experiences. Keep Up The Good Work
One of my best friends got pulled up on stage in Jersey in I think 2009 for Come Clarity and I’ve never been more jealous of anyone in my life. In Flames is the band that got me into metal and will always hold a special place in my heart
I remember hearing In Flames back when Reroute to Remain was around. Unfortunately I never got into them very much because I was listening to Skate Punk and Ska at the time :D Rediscovered them through your channel and it's been a blast man. Just received my 20 year edition LP of Clayman today :)
That’s sick, man! Enjoy!
One of my fave bands from that era and area of Scandinavia. Seen them many many times. I was actually at the Hammersmith gig that was called “Hammered at Xmas” and I’m the big dumb fuck in a Santa hat in the crowd lol. Alongside 3 buddies also with Santa hats haha
You make me all nostalgic here... but for me this is university years... geez, i'm getting old.... :D
and a very good choice from their Strömblad era...
This band was my gateway for the heavy metel and I was in army whyle I started to listem them. This song is the one for me...
Ah, In Flames. Can't be a Swede without loving at least a few of their songs. 😁 I was a bit late to the In Flames scene, too immersed in Linkin Park and the likes back in the day. But Delight and Angers still is on basically each and every one of my playlists.
Oh man they changed my life 16 or so years ago for me . Life altering stuff.
It's always fun to say that "I listen to a bunch of local bands"
- "yeah, any I've heard of?"
- "well, In flames, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, Evergrey, Avatar, Hammerfall, Amaranthe to pick a few"
Yeah, I hear you. I listen to a lot of local bands from my area: Anthrax, Overkill, Dream Theater, Biohazard, Twisted Sister, Suffocation, Symphony X.
@@alexojeda9048 that's nice bro, but, how many people live in there? In my area lives less than 1 million and to my knowledge the only city that have a whole genre named after it "Gothenburg sound". I'm not trying to offend anyone, just glad about that a small town like mine has made such an impact in the metal world.
@Vinter Yes
Nice pick! Love me some earlier In Flames. Clayman was what hooked me initially, but I was into most of their catalog until I phased out around Come Clarity.
I listened to Colony, Clayman, and Reroute to Remain a whole lot when I was in High Scool.
Same. Haha
Love this song!
In flames was the last band I seen live before covid hit. Keep up the videos 🤘
LOVE old In Flames. One of my very first metal shows was Slayer, In Flames and Soulfly in a small amphitheater. Fantastic show.
I"ve been waiting for you to do some In Flames since I found you. My favorite metal band. Thank you for this!
Man! In Flames is the first metalcore band I started to like, it was 20 years ago!
I still have "A sense of purpose" DVD edition, and I even bough "Come Clarity" twice because I lost it.
I listened to the 2020 remastered Clayman album, and it's great, you might want to give it a go!
Damn that is a good riff.
Love In Flames. Or at least the older stuff.
In the year 2000 it was the shit with Soilwork, At the Gates and Dark Tranquility!
yooooo same with me with in flames, i found them out early in high school and i just went on a mad spree getting most of their songs, which was over 100 back then lol. didnt listen to all of them but i had them lol
Already 20 years ago. Time flies man... Time flies
Hi Tank! I'm 36, from France. In flames was such an awesome band at this time! It brings me back so much good memories, from a past time I used to go to concerts every weeks with my friends! I saw In Flames in small places and in huge europeans festivals in those 2000-2010's years and realy miss it today. This was the best In Flames lineup! I hope we'll all blast this covid shit soon and be able to come back to concerts. Take care everybody! Tank, keep on making good job like this!
Cheers!
Ahhh, this take me back to my Early teens (like, 12 yo little me, being a Swedish gal and metal head). In Flames and Soilwork, man
Yeah, I hadn't heard of In Flames before they toured with Within Temptation in 2019. This is my first time hearing their earlier stuff. I liked it, headbanging right on through.
I was SO SAD to miss this live premiere. Love me some In Flames! My first song of theirs was Leeches and I was IN! Thanks for the nostalgia! 😊👍
First In Flames song I heard was Stay With Me from another reaction channel a year or 2 ago. Listened to the I, The Mask album a couple months after that. Really liked it. Also really liked this song. I'll check out the album.
I have this DVD it is so good !!!!
one of the absolute best versions of the best In Flames songs. my favorite of all time is till "Jotun" from The Tokyo Showdown.
100% relate in my experience with In Flames. They did the same in opening me up to extreme metal as a kid. Colony is hands down one of my favorite songs of all time. The vocals, melody, aggressions, lyrics, songwriting are all stellar
Episode 666 please Tank... best guitar duet ever! Nightwish and in flames are my two go to bands, play them every day.
this one and Ordinary Story has a special spot in my heart!
Good timing for an In Flames reaction. I literally just received my Clayman 20th Anniversary Edition vinyl in the mail today. Love this song too, that fuzzy bass tone does it for me. Also, love the live video from a few years ago for Only For The Weak.
Time to check out the Finnish melodeath group Bloodred Hourglass, they just released a new song - Drag Me the Rain
How about a tripple Reaction with Chase and Julia from the "Unfinished Story" (her Reaction from the Thumbnail would be priceless :D )
I came here to suggest the same!
Thank you for this! Very nostalgic! Keep up the good work🤘🏼!
Greetings from Billdal (Gothenburg), Sweden. I actually live just a few meters from where In Flames and Dark Tranquillity started rehearsing.
No way! That’s awesome. And thank you!
Loving this been a while hearing In flames ...
Got the DVD. Epic!
One of my favorite concerts still is In Flames in 2003 at Wacken Open Air. Man that was sooooo goood.
Damn Brother. We basically had the same intro into metal. Lol. Zero Signal and not long after In Flames! It was the Clayman album for me! Diggin the fun fucts
In my opinion, to choose this song out of the entire In Flames catalogue shows proper understanding of what the band really is about. Respect 💪
(My top3 favorite In Flames songs:
1. Man Made God
2. Colony
3. Worlds Within The Margin)
EXCELLENT choices.
i cant wait this summer the Megadeth tour with Inflames, Lamb of God , and Trivium will hit near me. To be honest i gradutated high school in 93 and Megadeth is the last band on the line up for me. Never thought id have a chance to ever see Inflames live but i cant wait. Inflame is the band on my bucketlist to see.
I remember first being introduced to In Flames by a friend in High Scool which was around the time when Come Clarity was released. What a rollercoaster of a ride it was diving into their music. To this date my favorite metal band. Also lucky enough to step into it around Come Clarity, I love their new stuff as much as their old stuff.
Ooh man, I Still remeber when i heard In flames THE first time. I was going home from THE music store after just randomly picked som CD;s. I put Sounds of a playground fading in THE var. I remeber looking at THE cover when hearing that aqustik intro wondering what THE f?! And then som guitarrs and drums before THE song really started. I was hooked, really hooked. Still to this Day i have not heard all their album. Just to save that moment of THE first feeling hearing in flames
I met Jesper, Anders, Björn, Daniel and Peter in 2008 on a signing, got a bunch of albums and the classic "In Flames - Probably the best band in the word" t-shirt signed, 2 years before Jespers departure, was a great year =) also went to the concert wich was held in "Lisebergshallen" - Gothenburg, In Flames are SOO GOOD in Gothenburg! Festivals got nothing on their own concerts!
Man, this brings my thoughts to 2012 when I saw them at their club tour through Sweden. That show was similar to this one in terms of audience capacity. It was truly awesome!
One of my best concert memories is an In Flames concert at a festival back in 2008.
A perfect summer night set the mood. Made the lighting and color scheme of the show perfect. The band being awesome as usual.
The outro with smoke, confetti and fireworks was epic! Confetti lingering around in the hot summer night for what felt like forever.
I still gets goose bumps watching a crappy 2008 cellphone video on CZcams.

wow, throwback to later highschool/begining uni for me... heh, I haven't listened to it in a while, thanks!
My first favorite In Flames song was Delight & Angers
3 years ago they were playing as Co Headliner in Vienna, but the night before they were performing secretly in a small venue and just playing their classic songs. I missed it :/
