My dear Bruckner ! Celibidache, dear Maestro ! Time really stops when you listen to this amazing Adagio. And isn't this more than just very beautiful music, something that makes you to set your sight on things above. Or, you can just sigh in front of this wonder, this almost painful beauty. I am just so deeply moved and grateful. Of all great music and all my experiences... of all Celibidache's transcendental Bruckner rendition on record, this Adagio is maybe the one that leaves me most entranced. For me this isn't just music: this is a prayer, comforting words, sublime beauty...an overwhelming moment that fully embraces your soul.

This is terrific, and, as it would seem that there are those who are highly critical of the so-called liberties he takes with tempos, I think that he's done a terrific job here...Bravo!...Thank You!....

I always feel a certain kind of "warmth" from the second theme at 3:30, as if entering cozy room with warm lighting and hot food, from an otherwise cold and bleak backstreet.

so interesting, and convincing. i think he included bruckner's frustration of not being possible to play this for 17 years or so. fantastic anyway.

I am "new" to AB's symphonies and enjoying the music. However I have to become used to sudden pauses where I am not expecting them, it seems. It is almost as if the maestro is thinking to himself "Mmm...I wonder what I will put here?"
If anyone had made a suggestion I understand he would have agreed! What a wonderful man! Why is he not better known an appreciated I wonder? May he rest in peace.

It works moderately. I prefer Jochum’s nerve and muscular performance: the drama is more obvious.

    Sorry just ridiculously slow.
For me that’s why Bruckner is still a difficult composer to bring off in the concert hall. I don’t mind some movements being played slowly, the problem is slow plodding scherzos. When marked “Schnel “ meaning quickly, most are played Allegro moderato. ...

    • @lakidarsknil

but u find no "schnell" in the 2thz movement, but u can find "sehr langsam", that means very slowly
