- For a few years we have been making our own microwavable oatmeal packs. Making our own instant oatmeal saves us a ton of money, but we also know what we are eating which is super important to us. You can add just about anything you want to the packs to customize them. Add whatever powdered sweetener you choose, any nuts, dried fruit, etc. We make many options and love them all.
Instant Oatmeal Base
1/2c. old fashioned oats
pinch of salt
To cook place your pack in a bowl and add 1/2 -2/3c. milk or water. Milk will give you a creamier texture. Cook in the microwave for 2:30-3 minutes. make sure to use a bowl that is larger because it will boil and puff up while it cooks.
add in ideas (add right into your bags)
We use milk but if you want to use water add 1T powdered milk to each bag to add the creaminess of milk.
Maple brown sugar
1t. brown sugar
1t. maple sugar
you can add more sugar if you like it sweeter.
Chocolate peanut butter
1-2t. chocolate chips
2t. peanut butter powder
Cinnamon Raisin
1-2t. brown sugar
1/8t. cinnamon
1-2T. raisins
Cranberry almond
2T craisens
1t. maple sugar
1T. sliced almonds
1t. flax or chia
Fruit and cream
1-2t. brown sugar
1T. dried fruit like blueberries, strawberries, cherries, etc.

Awesome! Simple and inexpensive, and "one more thing I am not buying" anymore. Thanks for giving us a lot of information from beginning to storage. 😘( yes, just turned 60 so saving money I don't have is good)🥰
Brilliant idea!! ❤
BTW I LOVE your apron!
Great idea. I will purchase some small glass storage containers to make them in so they can be heated in those and then reuse the containers
Great idea!
love this!! thank you
You're so welcome!
Nifty timesaver. We’ve quit buying commercial rolled oats and purchased a MockMill Flaker. We get organic whole Oat Groats and roll our own. Takes 30 seconds and the taste is phenomenal! Only had it 6 weeks but we love it!
I’ve never heard of this before. Very interesting.
