I DJed with Richard D. James in my bedroom back in 1993 and he gave me a promo CD copy of his first LP! And the next day his Dad called and left a nice message on my Ansaphone (which I still have!) thanking us for the hospitality! How cool is that!
I miss this band so much. I hope they make music together again soon...

Ayse and Fay are so adorable
Savages are so amazing live. I love how Aphex Twin makes the list on many of the artists featured on Amoeba; such a powerful influence. This is such a great series, it helps get into what makes the artists tick and what they're all about. I'd love to see Skinny Puppy featured here, or some other goth/industrial artists. (granted the Peter Murphy and Gary Numan ones are pretty awesome!)

But on a side note; Richard D. James Album, what a pick, that's my respect earned. Not to mention her inclusion of Steve Reich.
You should watch Gerry by Gus Van Sant. Best use of Arvo Pärt Fur Alina ever. Not a romantic thing. Just two guys losing themselves both physically and mentally in Death Valley. Obviously Fur Alina wasn't meant for this. But the void between and inside the notes reflects on the void of Death Valley. Having been there, you can feel how the notes would hang there and be transported by the wind, completely intact. Such an underrated movie.
These women have amazing taste.
If I was in this show I would pick like a copy of Limp Bizkits Chocolate starfish and the hotdog whatever the name was and a blue ray version of independence Day and then give somo esoterical explanation of both just to mess with people's head.

If you haven't seen Savages live, do it, do it now! Even in those awful multi-stage venues like Pitchfork where it's the middle of the day and hot. Everyone I could see around me was either lost in dance or utterly captivated by what they were doing on stage. You couldn't help but smile because it was madness!!
Wow, I always knew she was uber sexy, but I had no clue Jehnny Beth had a sexy accent too. Anyways, love the band, and the picks were really interesting.
