This is an exceptional performance of Indian classical singing. Unlike the majority of so-called classical singers nowadays, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan's Taans are perfectly in line with the raag and its various prakars as well as following the contours meticulously, and hence making the listening experience that more pleasurable. The bhaav generated is so intense that I feel like exploding. Shaam Chaurasi interpretation of Miyan-ki-Malhar at its absolute best.

Yes, in the ancient indic traditions, we actually have a term for them Gandharvas, celestial musicians who can sometimes take birth, and bring music into our lives! Kumar Gandharva was another example. Kishori ji was similarly termed Gaan Saraswati after the Hindu Goddess of music who is still worshipped by millions in India. Hinduism has many references to music dance and rhythm built into it. Music, dance and drumming have religious sanction built into Indian immensely rich and ornate ancient civilisational culture
